OK, I will bite..history on this please. Not sure we Southerns even use Purnia gravy train. The more I see what our Federal Government is becoming the more I understand the war over states rights.

I think that is a full price but if it is that good of shape it could be worth it! It never hurts to ask if he'll take less. Some always say no with a general question so a price you may have in mind will often go further.

The first thing is to remove the sheet metal, then the front end of the tractor. At this point the front of the engine should be easily accessable to tear apart the engine to remove the camshaft. Be sure to support the front of the tractor properly so it doesn't fall.

The rebar does seem to work here as well. My carport floor and the apron in front of it is 6" with fiber and 5/8 rebar tied on 24" centers over plastic.Its been 3 yrs now,the apron part is totally exposed. I plow it with the sd and scrape it clean with the tc35da. The jd 8120t has been on it as well,summer and winter for service. Its not sawcut,only because it was oct when we poured it,so it just didnt get done(winter comes early here),and the next summer, I just never got to it.The edges are really chipped up,and the surface is scarred pretty bad from the chains on the nh (park it with the blower on it in winter) and the carbide studs on the 8120t,but no cracks yet.That slab was really overkill,and I wont go the rebar route in the shop,mostly because at 3500 sq ft,its just too much work for my 65yr old ass!But this time I will do the sawcuts!

Also quoted a Frontier RC1060 cutter at $1350 extra - is this brush cutter or grass?

Kuhn EL32-130 52" tiller at $2250?

Can anyone think of anything else that should be included in the 'basic' package

New Holland are just launching a 50HP with an updated (?) version of Hydrostatic. It is called CVT (Constant velocity Transmission. The model is 3050, which is the same size class as yours! The next option is the slightly larger 4055(55HP) & 4060(60HP.)These are EHSS which is electro Hydraulic 12 x 12 EHSS (Electrohydraulic Shuttle Shift) Left-hand clutchless shuttle (4) Synchronized Gears, (3) Non-synchronized Ranges Dash Mounted Gear and Shuttle Controls.

From a purely engineering point of view, I'd say it would be tough to even fabricate the plow and mounting frame.

Since the plow needs to be mounted beneath the JD frame, the plow frame would have to be very wide and go around both sides of the front wheel, leaving enough room for the wheel to turn to steering lock each way.

That wouldn't leave much room for the plow blade to swivel.

After that, I'd say you would likely find serious traction issues. The idea of 4 rear wheels is to spread out the weight and reduce tire loading, snow plowing requires a more traction, not less.

A tractor, by the very nature of it, is designed, and primarily used for, heavy draft work, that is, pulling heavy loads.

From this point of view a tractor has a lot in common with an airplane.

For this it needs to be very efficient at converting the energy into mechanical power, and with the least amount of weight necessary to do the job.

Unfortunately, tractors, just like airplanes, are VERY difficult to convert to electric power. With today's battery technology there just isn't a battery capable of producing enough power, for a long enough period, that weighs the same or less than a comparable internal combustion engine.

When you add tracks to the tractor, even only part-time like yours, it just makes it that much more difficult.

Every pound you add means that much more parasitic losses.

I've had this happen on my woods 750. A little cam slipped on the level and all the sudden the dipper was moving in to opposite directions. Check out the Woods site, they have all of the diagrams posted in a PDF. The lever set-up may be close to yours. My problem was a loose locknut on the bottom of the lever.
