I use my box scraper with one scarifier tooth dropped all the way. I have removed many a 6"-caliper stump this way. And the nice thing about using the BS is when I'm done digging I clean up the hole and then tote the stump away on the back. Having a hyd. toplink really helps but not necessary. Driving backward (with the tooth raised) turns the BS into a dozer that does exceptionally well piling up the brush and cleaning up the site without bringing a lot of dirt along due to the geometry of it tending to ride up and roll the brush over. The hyd. top link is used to tilt the rear of BS down to prevent riding up (better attack angle).

RD, there's no secret.

The tires are only filled to the 75% level, all you have to do is make sure the valve is at the very top (12 o'clock position) of the tire.

For safety's sake you may want to give the tire a short blast of air in the valve first just to clear any Rim Guard away before it gets into your gauge.

Generally speaking however, a gauge is of little use on a tractor tire. It will only tell you what the pressure is at, what you want is the correct pressure, and that's not a number, it's a position.

You want the entire tread to JUST sit flat on the ground. Too much air and the shoulders will lift up, and too much air will cause the center to lift up.

In my experience, the best way to do this is to sit the tractor on a flat level surface and add air till the shoulder just starts to come up, then let some air back out till it just touches again.

Gravity, about as dependable a tool as you will ever find!! LOL

You'll like the added traction. Here are some installation tips for the rears.

It helps to have a second pair of hands, and the first time you might want the help of someone experienced.

Do the inside connector first, as tight as you can, and cut off or tie down the extra links so they won't hit. Then the outside connector. After each use, yank around any side-to-side slippage. As they break in you will likely tighten the outside connectors by a link.

I ensure both rears are in the same position, with the connectors on both sides in the one location where I can check them (the hitch area), so after I can check one I don't have to move the tractor to find and check the other.

I have no idea how that engine is plumbed but those symptoms sound identical to a problem I had with an old VW Scirocco. It turned out to be a very simple problem - a flex boot between the throttle body housing and the intake box had cracked, leaking air and causing the engine to run way to lean. Although these engines are generally pretty simple, it would be worth checking for vacuum leaks if there are any vacuum lines on it.

hi ,just to say we ave problems with cold start problems,and we just get a hair dryer,take of the manifold pipe, and in sert the warm air in to the manifold and turn the engine over and its starts straight away.... worth you aveing a go ??? saves us chargeing the battery up and burning the wires up !!!!

Totally sensible, but these that have had nothing posted in over a year keep popping up. They have to come from web searches for they or the ones I remember are from people new to TP. One of the reasons it bugs me, makes me wonder how many think others must think I am a goof and never post here again. I know have made much worse goof's of EW has a long list of them. Sure am glad to be of value to him. Keeps me going.

Kenny, don't forget though, gravity is our friend. LOL

If you run a good-sized pick up tube from near the bottom of the tank, up and over the top and back down to the ground and into the pump, the pump won't really know how far the fuel is traveling before getting to the pump, and gravity will cause the fuel to siphon down to the pump.

In effect the pump will not really be lifting any fuel at all.

I purchased an alternator for my 6x4 gator (FD620D Kaw Engine) but there are no installation instructions (even though the guy that I bought it from said they were in the box). Anybody got these instructions and would be willing to share?? :-)

Ok here is my problem. The passenger side seal on the 4x4 differential is leaking fluid. so i was wondering if anyone has had the 4x4 axle shaft out, and if there is a retaining ring or if the shaft just slides out. any help would be apperciated.<br>

They are real solid and reliable basic no frills ag tractors that are pretty fuel efficient. I suggest getting 4WD if you plan on adding a FEL.

i do know a guy that got one with a side mower for $2500. and i new one in 1946 was around $517. so i would say if in good condition with plow(jd i hpoe) would go for $2000-$4500. i hope this helps
