I'm not familiar with the type of blower you have but is it chain driven off of a PTO or hydraulic driven?

You mention running the blower from your FEL hydraulics.

If it is a hydraulic driven blower, your tractor does not likely have enough hydraulic gpm to drive the blower sufficiently. Most hydraulic driven, tractor mounted snow blowers require a minimum of 16 gpm and your tractor is rated at about 6 gpm.

Your mid-mount PTO runs at about 2300 rpms, but it would be difficult, if not impossible to put together a PTO linkage from your mid-mount PTO to the front of your tractor and have it work the way you would want it to.

Murf, likely has the best solution in mind....as usual.

I would be very suspicious of this method. Growing up on a farm in southern Idaho as a kid, I trapped hundreds of gophers. In those days, the farmer gave you $0.25 for each gopher tail and then you could take the tail to the local conservation office and get another 2 bits.

I learned all the tricks to catching gophers and sometimes when I ran into one that was too cagy to catch I would try to smoke him out. We had an old Massey Ferguson tractor that had a manual choke and we would hook up 3 inch flexible hose to the tractor muffler, pull out the choke and put the smoke to him. We would step back and could see exactly where his tunnels were by watching the smoke seep up through the ground. It was always amazing to see the complicated runs they made, how far they went and the many complex intersections.

In my opinion, by the time the gas mixture found it's way to where the little bugger actually lived, it would be too weak or not the right mixture to explode. And then you never know if you got him or not.

The only method I believe in is the trap. When he is in the trap and dead, you got him. Same with the moles we have here. All sorts of stupid concotions people sell to get rid of moles. But the only thing that I know that truly works is a trap. I get so obsessed with trapping the little buggers, I keep track of how many I kill every year with a grease pencil out on my fence. It's my wall of honor! My neighbors laugh at me, but I don't have any ugly mole hills any where on my 2 acres....or if I do, it's only for a day or two and then he is a grease mark on my fence! :)

Ok folks, I hit every auto and truck supply in town on my way home from work as well as two "other brand" compact tractor dealers in the area. Not one of them was able to cross reference the number either on the pump or the Cub Cadet number. Good thing gas prices are down...$1.75 here in case you wondered. I bought a Mr Gasket #12D made for diesel fuel. It's rated at 35 gpm and 4-7 psi. Should be plenty. Got it at Advanced Auto for $54.00. comes with a 90 day warranty, thread in 100 micron filter, fittings, and hardware. This pump is the same size and very close to the same mounting. Earlier in the year I kept busting the fuel line to the injection pump so I ran a steel line with 3 inches of high pressure fuel injection hose at each end to hook it up. I hope to get the Mr Gasket pump in this weekend. I'll let ya'll know how it works out. Denny

If you are careful you will not need gaskets. One nut, as you know, holds the individual valve covers to its respective head. That nut has a copper washer under it that is reusable. The gasket that seals the cover to the head should be reusable, use a little silicone gasket maker to be sure.

As to your problem. Are you sure this is where you should look? Can you explain just what the engine is doing or not doing? Does it only turn half way with the starter, or, can you not turn it over by hand fully? Use the nut on the front of the engine in the centre of the crankshaft pully and a wrench. Let us know.

We have a GL3240 with FEL and BH75 hoe. When the hoe is removed and the 3-point installed, the trailing arms of the hitch rub the sub-frame of the BH. The tilt adjustment for the 3-point is almost impossible to operate.<br>

I have both. The single-stage works for light powder, but heavy or wet snow will at best barely make it out of the chute, at worst continuously clog.

BA, you are talking about two VERY different animals here.

A trail, even one that will get the occasional truck or tractor running it, will not need any sort of base, or anything but grass on top, in fact topsoil & grass is probably about the best choice you could make for keeping it in good shape.

A driveway however, even if only designed for light cars will need some substantial prep work, including a properly drained base and suitable aggregate on top to hold the surface.

I stand by my early remarks. Get a guy who knows what he's doing with a small dozer to build your trails. If, in the future, you decide to convert some of it into a proper driveway, it will be far easier to do with the route already cleaned and leveled as a trail.

All you need for maintaining a trail system is a good box blade with a hydraulic top link on the back of a 4X4 tractor.

I found a generic picture of a the inner workings of a manual transmission. This one happens to be used in Chevy trucks, but most manual transmissions are generally built using the same principles.

Please note that parts 87-121 are all contained in the upper cover assembly. The entire top right assembly comes out in one piece. The forks can then be removed from the cover assembly on the workbench, and then be re-attached to the transmission. The forks simply slip over the shift collars on the main shaft during re-assembly.

I doubt that your transmission is much different than this one, other than the fact that you don't have the externally mounted 5th gear assembly.

If you can access the available one, you could check the mating surfaces (the ones you can't shim or squeeze in) against the factory engine.

Update:
Culprit found. While moving the upper oil control ring to the lower groove discovered that one of the three rings used in the oil control groove was gone. The oil control ring is really 3 rings in one groove, 2 wipers and one spring ring behind the 2 wipers it pushes the wiper rings into contact with the cylinder wall. This was the rear cylinder and the one smoking most.

The two cylinders cleaned up good and the deglazing worked well. Pick up rings and gaskets wed and install by the weekend.
