Bill,

I bought a manual and key switch for my MT372 from you last year. You don't seem to have a wiring harness for sale (I've left several phone messages about it) so I'm going to try making one myself.

The diagram shows what appears to be wire size codes - AV2 and AV0.5. Can you tell me what wire sizes those are? 16 ga? 12 ga?

Do you have a source for short (10') lengths of wire in colors other than red and black (auto stores and WalMart)?

A pic would help if you can't find the plate on your own. They have changed the locations enough but they normally are on a tin tag not stamped into the chassis.

The manufacturers design book explains all about drainage on these stacked walls. A perforated pipe is wrapped in landscape fabric and surrounded by gravel at the rear base of the wall and it drains to daylight. I'm not yet sure exactly where that daylight will be but it will be found somewhere.

I not try to complicate this. The valve body consists of 8 (if I remember Correctly) valve bodies. They are simple open close valves there are no fancy pressure check valves etc. If boom in air and hose rupture it is coming down, if boom in air and you loosen fitting it coming down. The dipper and boom have a relief valve on the rod extend side of valve to prevent a hard stop rod bottom out in cylinder. If one of these reliefs sticks you will bend a rod. Ask me how I know.

I have had the entire valve body out and restacked valves to operate like excavator controls.

The System is a very basic hyd system easy to rebuild easy to trouble shoot.

The sag is from oil moving back past the seals in the valve body. Depending on the tolerances in the valves some might be tighter than others. I doubt very much it is oil moving past seals in cylinders but it could be. However you would notice a drop in breakout with out laboring the tractor pump.

JD does have a spec on drop. The exact quote is in the archives somewhere. The search system here is a PITA. I do not remember the exact numbers but was surprised at what JD considered within tolerance.

Yes I agree the sag and the settling in 15 minutes or so is a irritation. I have no problem with it. Yes I operate BIG CATS and OTHERS. But for my use at home my little BH beats the snot out of a shovel and wheelbarrow. New o ring and seal kits are available.

I use the lite oil. Probably should use heavy.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to talk with the person that actually did the work. But he didn't note anything on the record. I think if he had, I'd have heard about it because they have that good of a reputation.

I think the last guy just didn't rebuild the cylinder properly. As for the original failure? It could be I overloaded the loader. I recall trying to dig into a pile of frozen dirt early this Spring when the loader suddenly started to drop on its own. Lesson learned. :-)

Carpetman...I think you found your tractor,or on the right tract. Med size and powerful. The only thing i really don't like about my deere 2520 is that it does not have a temperature guage. I think with a temperature guage i can tell alot about whats going on inside...just at a glance. Other than that, Green was more expensive than orange, but i liked the green dealer alot more better than the local orange dealer. Really don't think too many pro's or cons on the 2920 kubota or 2720 deere...they are both new this year i think.

A car has a design life of 10-15 years and every year's model is different, so whether it's a '91 or a '96 affects its value. But a tractor should last for a half century, and each model typically has a production run of 5-10 years, so its year of manufacture doesn't mean much.

On the dash there should be a dial that shows engine revs and total hours. I don't know Kubotas and there are other variables, but as a starting place if it's a current model in decent shape I'd guess the package value to be $8-12k.

my JD4600 didn't want to start- I replace fuel solinond (spelling?) Next I replaced the fuel pump- it appears that worked. ONE note: I don't know why but the first time running it with new fuel pump- it ran 2 hours. I turned it off- had lunch- came back next day -it didn't start... I when through each fuel line to check if it was getting fuel- they where- expect at base of fuel injection pump...??? Well, I ended up taking the fuel pump back off and re installing it to be sure it was done correctly. It started right up. FYI- I haven't started it since then- but I feel the pump was not "sitting" firmly. time will tell.

I have a JD4600. I love this machine. It one size up from 3000 series. I have debated numerous time- if my 4600 needs replaced what size to go with. I think the 43HP is an ideal size: not too big or small. Thus, the problem: JD has a 3000 series machine & 4000 series machine. I believe that the big frame size is helpful for doing heavier tasks and a little bit better traction -if I where going to guess. The ONLY reason I would think about going to the 3000 series there appears to be more attachments designed for it- but with a little reseach you can get the same type of attachments just not JD stuff. ONLY side note- snow blower. I have not found a "front" mount snowblower. I don't know why because the 4000 series can mount a mid mount PTO.....
Finally- I would suggest the 4000's series. Yes- it costs more but I think you would be happier when you start doing your logging. FYI- WR Long has these grapple buckets. I have one - ITS THE BEST ATTACHMENT I OWN! I believe it's 10 times better than a 4 n 1 bucket.

The brand not sure of but was purchased from Lowes four or so years ago. They did have it in both the "boards" and "panels". Not sure now the length of the panels if 8 or 9 foot but were pleased with it very well. We used the panels but can understand the concern with the joint. Guess that is true for any joint though. EW, can not remember if we had to predrill holes are were able to use a special nail. If memory is correct they have a special nail for it.

Frank I don't think this product has been out there that long and some of the products that were out there in the 70's are not lasting here.

If appearance were a issue I would use the boards, if just sealing it, then I would use the metal if off the ground enough to prevent the bottom edge from rusting. kt

Yeah, sounds like the main clutch disc - but usually there's more warning. Like gradual slippage leading up failure, usually accompanied by the distinctive smell. but it's a two stage clutch. Can you still engage/disengage/operate PTO driven implement - even though the tractor will not move?

And what does it do when you try to go in reverse?

Thanks, I'll take it into consideration. My understanding was to use a chain 'slightly' longer than the top link. But I was very happy with the float as it is, compared to what I was used to!
