Hi everyone. I have a JD 261 grooming mower and I'm trying to remove the blades for replacement. I don't have a shop manual or the owner's manual. The blades spin clockwise (looking down on the mower) and are attached with a single bolt. The deck is 5ft wide with 3 blades total. It is a rear mounted, PTO driven unit.<br>

Browsing around, I've learned that these bolts may in fact be reverse threaded. Before I get myself a large torque wrench, I'd like to know for certain. Does anyone know with certainty whether or not the bolts for this particular mower are reverse threaded?

If all you did was use the FEL to lift it while you backed the trailer under it---wouldn't just a tree branch and a come-a-long worked just as well? I mean the whole point is to use the mobility of the tractor to load it.

I knows you Iowans (or is it Iowanians) do things diff'rnt down thar, so maybe what you said is REALLY what you did do--you used JUST the FEL (no tractor) AH-HA!!--that 'splains it, Lucy!

Chief I do use Stabil, never heard of Berryman's. I burned alot of wood last winter in my Jotul Stove, but it is hard to heat the whole house that way. We kept the oil furnace at a constant 61 degrees the entire winter.

Might need a smaller bungalo ;) to make living more practical.

Based upon my memory only it seems Mobile One has backed off of as long oil change recommendation as they once had. Did they not have 25,000 mile recommendation when they came out? A quick look at their web site you will find they had a Mobile One for Diesels. Plus they have mixtures (my term) of their oil giving different oil change recommendation. Seems they have complicated their product line for the gasoline engine again since I last looked. Oh the simple days when there was only one Mobil One or that I knew of. Now I wonder about the oil change of Mobil One last week that shows it needs to be changed at 3,000 miles. Just which Mobile One did they use?

This makes me wonder, is their synthetic the same it was or have they gone the way of Castro is suppose to have? You do notice Casto does not do any comparsion of theirs to anyone else's synthetic. kt

I remove the FEL bracket and looked at it. The fingers appear to have the right amount of clearance and they do move. Course this was after I had adjusted the clutch linkage. When my garage is free I guess I'll have to split the thing.

There is about 1500 difference. A normal note at current interest would put the BX2350 cheaper unless you have the cash.

Yes, finally changed the power steering filter and oil on my Boomer 1530. It took about 15-20 minutes (I tend to take things slow). It still kills me that the filter cost so much!

I demo'ed a 4100 when they were fresh out of the box. Dealer brought it out with a 6 ft. rear mt. finish mower. Way too much mower for the 4100. They are a neat little tractor in their place, but I think the circimstances being as they are I'd pass and put the 10,000. toward sometning a bit more husky for backhoe use. I get real cautious when someone tells me how with just bigger a hose here and a valve there she will work just fine. Frank.
