I have a roto-tiller, a Woods finish mower, a spare parts tractor. You or the other responders must be aware that your PTO runs in the reverse direction of normal!!I also have a reversing gear-box with standard 1 3/8 6 spline. Also have about $600. worth of shop manuals for this. I also built a over-riding PTO clutch for this tractor with the standard 6 spline.The main one I use is 4-wheel drive and has a loader, nice!

The hydraulic fence post drivers are pretty heavy. They weigh about 60 pounds. It works best to suspend the driver from the loader bucket using a heavy rubber strap. No lifting is required.

The best way to do this is to start each post with a hand operated post driver. Once they are all in place, and started straight, they can then be driven completely in using the hydraulic driver.

I believe your pavement breaker would work just fine.

A tractor has a service life in the half-century range, so the $800 gets spread out. It will distinguish your tractor when selling it, whereupon you'll get most of it back. With more sophisticated attachments available, it's better to have a factory option and not need it than vice versa.

I kinda late to this party but I think you went the right way. I was going to suggest that if you are not getting the Cummins engine, go with the 1500. Dodge makes a heavier duty 1500 4WD. I looked at one awhile back. It had the 8 lug wheels. I would also go with the Mega Cab. They are REAL nice. LOTS of extra room in the back as well as a fold down seat for more storage. Did you get the Refuel America special offer for free gas for 3 years upto 12,000 miles per year?

My personal preference would be for the 2500 or 3500 in single rear wheel drive and the 6.7 liter Cummins 6 speed manual trans. I love my exhaust brake on my current Dodge Ram. After the Cummins has had some time to break-in the mileage will go up to near 20 mpg on the 6.7 liter Cummins give or take. I get about 20 - 21 mpg locally and 23 - 25 highway on my 5.9 liter Cummins.

I drive my truck a substantial amount on logging, dirt, and backroads and the extra weight of the 2500 and the diesel helps with traction and drivability in that I can just put the transmission in 2nd or 3rd gear and just idle around easily. I pull fairly heavy occasionally and the extra pulling power of the diesel is nice to have.

With diesel fuel nearly a dollar a gallon more than gas and mileage of gas vehicles improving, begining to rival diesel fuel economy, I certainly understand why you went with the 1500. Be sure to post a follow up later on after you have driven the new truck for a good bit and let us know what you like and dislike. I am looking at a truck for the wife for when the Ford Taurus gives up the ghost.

I have had a Cat 2 PEC on my 45hp tractor for several years now. All my implements originally came with Cat 1 lift pins. I swapped most of them out for Cat 2, to minimize the number of potentially lost/rusted adapter bushings. Nevertheless, my Cat 2 PEC will pick up every implement I own - regardless of which lift pin is installed. On one (the boxblade I think) I reversed the lift pins for easier pickup. So even though I sympathize, you may not yet have explored your full range of options.

The PTO shaft length issue can easily be remedied with a PTO adapter from AgriSupply. They cost under $20 bucks, and effectively add about 4" to your tractor's PTO spline.

You didn't address the toplink. Your PEC will likely require you make adjustments to - or buy longer - toplinks. In my case, installing PEC actually remedied the minor issue of a HTL that was slightly too long for a few implements.

Thanks again Joel. I do have a control for the remote hydraulics. So, a hydraulic center link should be no problem. I just finished putting on Pat's Quick Hitch and with that and the convenience of a hydraulic center hitch I'll be all set.

As a followup to EW's comment about connecting car batteries (in series) to make your own welder:

I have a 1972 GE battery-operated "Electrak" tractor (still in almost daily use). It holds six golf-cart batteries, so the drive motor, as well as all the attachments (mower, trimmer, chainsaw, drill) all have 36V DC motors. The other accessory is an arc welder!

I believe the real question comes in the form of total price at the end of the loan. That is, the total price you pay, including the interest on the loan.

If you're paying cash this isn't going to be a factor in the decision........but if you're getting a loan from your local banker, you may be better off in the end by getting a 0% loan for three years directly through Kubota on a new machine.

The asking price isn't bad. However, the final cost may be higher than it would be if you purchased a new machine at 0% interest.

I've just seen a lot of people make the same moves as you, it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Playing with all the equipment we have helps a lot when I'm trying to help someone find the right fit. I like to put people on the machines which helps them find the right equipment.

You might want to look at a post driver for your fence work. They work quite nice in stoney areas.
Kubota M-series have proven to be a great series of tractors and would fit your needs well. Plus they are some of the best cold weather starting tractors I've seen even without being plugged in if it will get snow removal duties.

That model tractor was replaced by the B-21 and then recently by the B-26 model. That was the first model of the construction tractors Kubota introduced into the market. They have been a success and work quite well with enhanced hydraulic systems for TLB use. <br>
I think the price is about right, do you realize it is a dedicated loader tractor?

Soldering or brazing doesn't help when it is plastic. After looking in the service manual, that line appears to be strictly for draining the system. So I plugged the snapped off hole in the radiator and plugged the line coming from the block to the drain. There is no more drain. I already fired it up and let it get to full temperature. Everything appears to be just fine.

Kt, 2.5' apart is based on tractor rear wheel. since the spray arm is 16 ft wide, it can cover 3 lines. Only the path line has that 2.5' space on both side. The line pattern is like
A sp Z sp A A sp Z sp A B sp B B sp Z sp B C sp Z sp CC sp Z sp C

A, B, C are the first couple batchs celery
sp is that 2.5' space
Z is the last batch celery or other less than 10" crops like Pak Choy.

I am thinking not to use real spray, instead of it I try to make 3 groups, each group has 5 soft rubber pipes and 6" apart. Connecting with a 200-300GL tank with a height adjustable arm in a 12" ground clearance cart. When I apply extra Nitrogen, let the soft rubber pipes sweep the ground between each row to apply liquid fertilizer.

Agree, it is the hard to me to make the all the things under control. Just want to do my best and give a try this year.

Limed May 6th, 2008 and amount. Even type of lime. Be sure to record your yields. That way you have a great reference as the years go on. Even the oldest of farmers only plant for say 50 or so years or 50 or so times. Not many businesses out there where you put so much money on the line with so many things you can not control with so few opportunities to get it right.
