Well Bill, I called MetKit today, Sat., same guy runs both CadPlans and MetKit. Wanting to purchase the Super Boom side plates, but he said he can ONLY sell as a kit??? But since I already have the metal purchased, bronze bearings ordered and bearing plates done I was not interested in wasting money.

I did the drawing in AutoCAD LT and put in the 30 deg angle and did overall measurements old vs new so I know the cut length of the 2.5x2.5x 3/16 steel.

I sent him a email telling him that I felt it was unfair that he makes design changes and will not sell the improvement either as a extra cost drawing change or a side plate cut out that will let customers who are building now like I am not pay twice for the same thing.

<u>IF I do not get a response</u> then I will do the reverse engineering needed to make it work and make it available to other people who feel cheated on this design correction. I can look at the main boom and see that it is too long in proportion to the dipper boom and a drive by any equipment dealer (or website) that sells backhoes will see that the angle of the main boom on commercial backhoes have been that way for years... ticked in Iowa.

this is our first year with the shed. We had to refill approx 250 gals of propane, but we had the heat set to 65 degrees from 10/20 - 12/20 for the season. I have not looked at the propane gauge lately...

For damn good BBQ I'd suggest 2 places, if you're ever in that area. My number 1 pick would be Wild Horse Mountain Bar-B-Q, near Sallisaw, OK. The place ain't much to look at but they make it up in taste. Number 2 would have to be Bodacious Bar-B-Q in Longview, TX.

Hi, My 4300 3 point lift rases very slowly and requires high throttle to lift. also the lift lever is very hard to move.<br>
I (dumb) did operate it with the drop rate valve closed.<br>
Any help would be greatly aspreeciated,<br>

we interplant- so we need to get between rows that vary between 6' - 7' and I suppose there are spots where it is 5' between. I think I need to go narrow.

Wallenstein was a small family owned & operated farm implement manufacturing company named for its location in Wallenstein, Ontario, Canada that was sold a few years back to an engineering & fabricating company in the same area.

The Wallenstein area is an old Mennonite (like Amish) area that was known for it's quality workforce, I've never heard anything bad about a Wallenstein product.

The new owners have expanded the product line to include some forestry and power equipment also.

If you have lines to the back of the tractor you likely already have a set of remotes and a valve installed.

I think the remotes are part of the package if you have a loader on the tractor. The Northern website mentions it in the description of several machines like this; "High strength mounting brackets for load distribution and GB tractor mounted joystick provides permanent dual remotes for the tractor.".

See if it's mentioned in Operators Manual for the tractor.

EW, any places that has horses (and a lot of cattle operations like dairy farms), race track, pleasure riding, competition, etc., will have a need for a great amount of sawdust as bedding material.

It is delivered by truck, usually a large straight truck, equipped with a high velocity PTO-powered sucker/blower unit.

It can load light stuff like sawdust at the rate of several yards a minute depending on the distance and height involved. The sawdust bins are usually elevated so it can be gravity loaded into wheelbarrows or carts below.

In theory you could build a trailer mounted stand-alone unit but it wouldn't be a cheap experiment. Mulch is heavy dense stuff to move around by air.

In your first post you said most sites would be inaccessible by even a wheelbarrow, so what good would a conveyor be? It would be so heavy you would need a loader to move into place. If you could get a loader in there in the first place why would you need a conveyor?

I believe the units Frank is talking about are basically big septic pumpers, like the ones so popular now for excavating by vacuum, Badger is a big franchise for that stuff now.

I know that the hydraulic filter is located INSIDE the fluid tank. You have to drain the tank, and unscrew it from the bottom.

I'm not sure on the steering box oil, I'll have to look and see.

NAPA can get oil filters too, I just can't remember the number right now.

From my other postings where I was initially looking at a mig welder, I ended up buying a very nicely kept used Miller 250DX tig welder with the running package (H2O torch cooler, gas rack, wheels and handles on the welder). I have been looking for used equipment for a while, I stumbled on this excellent package (ton of accessories included; electrodes, argon cylinder filled, ton of fill wire/ rods, nozzles, collets, helmet, etc) on craigslist.com. It appears the gentlemen that was selling the equipment tried his hand at fabrication but it wasn't his thing, so lucky me :)<br>

Now I am continuing my tig lessons at work where we have an old (1968) tig welder (no HF or square wave etc.) from my certified friend. I am getting OK with the basics with DCEN, and boy I am glad I went the tig route, because I just need the control that tig has, from welding razors blades sharp end to sharp end to welding heavier gauge basic mild steel or aluminum for my tractor applications, tig is the way to go for me.<br>

I used to carry a pistol at all times. I no longer own one for my own reasons, but I spend a lot of time outdoors, hiking, canoing and biking and always have a substantial Dozier knife (horizontal kydex sheath) readily available, a quality multi tool (leatherman), a good pocket knife (case), compass and quality lighter (weatherproof butane), matches, flashlight (surefire), and a walking stick. I am trying to no longer be afraid of being afraid. Preparedness vs. paranoia. If I go down then so be it, but I will try and do some considerable damage before I do. FYI, Black bears don't bother people. I have heard there has been only one reported death by one to a human in North America in over a hundred years. That info may be incorrect and if it is I stand corrected. Cougars and brown bears can be a legitimate threat and can understand the concern there. Though I have also been told that most guides in Alaska will use mace on a bear before a firearm. Most of all pay attention. Good luck to you all and hope you never have the need to have to use any of these self-defense strategies.

Dont remember what mod it was but back when I was a kid, I worked in the summer pruning christmas trees, the old man who owned the plantation owned and operated a front cut graveley, he took that thing up and down grades that I suspect were 30 percent or better, ran chains on it year round.

he had broken his back turning over one tractor, so it always amazed me what he's still do on that gravely

It's funny that this thread came back up when it did, I just put a set of "Goodyear Assurance, featuring Triple Tred technology�" on a little Volvo I have for my house-keeper to drive.

The snows are on it now, but I noticed that the 'summer' tires I have for it are getting pretty smooth. The local tire shop had a big sale on (buy 3 at the sale price and get the 4th free, plus free install & balance) so I thought I'd get them now.

In the paperwork they gave me is the details on the "Drivers Assurance Program" which is a warranty on the tires, plus roadside protection and the usual feel-good stuff.

The warranty was caught my eye, the tread is guaranteed for 80k miles or 130k kilometers. If the tires don't go that far, and you have done the recommended rotation, etc., they will warranty them.

Now I doubt that they will give me 4 new tires, but they will do better than say "sorry".

Unless you are doing more than 80,000 miles a year the tires should last more than a year, if not, make a warranty claim.

I purchased this machine 2 years ago and just love it as a mowing machine. I mentioned in another post that I do my pulling and dirty work with an old Gravely 8122. The JD LT190 has a 16" turning radius which is tight enough to go around many trees without backing up and is a fairly fast mower.<br>

I really thought about getting a zero turn mower but I really wonder how much faster I could mow my lawn with one of them. I am sure I could mow somewhat faster but would maybe save 15 minutes? And I am not happy with the fact that most of the residential zero turn mowers have the deck underneath rather than out front. <br>
