I suppose it's possible that the pressure you're placing on the brake pedal, could be just enough to force you back into the seat. When you remove your foot from the brake pedal, the pressure on the seat could be reduced just enough to break the circuit in the seat safety switch.

This should be fairly easy to troubleshoot.

The last year the Matrix had AWD was 2006, I guess most people in the AWD market want something the size of a Rav4 or a Honda CRV.

It's NOT normal for a cold engine to emit black exhaust during the start cycle, unless it's unnecessarily "gunned" before it's permitted to warm up properly. Gray is good, gray going to uncolored is better. <br>

White however, is not unusual from a cold engine while the starter is cranking. It's simple condensation produced when the cold intake air is heated by compression. It should go away in seconds, changing to gray - then uncolored. Volumes of white that persist after starting suggest water in the cylinders; typically a bad head gasket or perforated water jacket.<br>

Once a properly fueled engine is warmed up, a brief output of black is not unusual when the engine is subjected to a sudden heavy load. The governor will initially overcompensate, but the black smoke should quickly return to gray - then uncolored - as the fuel delivery matches the engine load. <br>

I have recently purchased a Hinomoto E250D tractor and I don't know where to fill the hydraulic oil unless it is the black plastic cap behind the gear stick? And how do I know the correct level as I cant see a dipstick , Please help regards Paul.

Hi Brian,
You may have figured this out by now, but there is an adjustment knob under the seat. Turning it clockwise slows the speed of drop. Yours might be almost closed, in which case you would get very slow dropping, and also overheating the hydraulic system. On my 955 I have is wide open so as not to chance that. It is there as a safety feature so as not to drop the implement accidentally on your foot or some small animal. I also box scrape in low range most of the time, except when I am finishing up and have the box set so that it is smoothing, and not gathering up too much material. Then I run it in high, with the five-eighths minus gravel flying. Great fun.

Howdy guys, I may be looking for the perverbial needle in the hay stack but I sure would like to have a woods 417 loader for my 7235 cub cadet. I know they made bushels of them but finding one not being used is quite a chore. If anyone knows of one please let me know. thanks<br>

I purchased a L2800 (which is identical only w/ 29hp) 1/1/2 years ago w/ LA463 FEL and BH75 and love it. It would run you 1,000 to 1500 less new than a L3400 and will do everything you need (hydraulics, specs and pumps are the same) The only difference is the PTO hp. I run a 64" 3pt snow blower in two feet of snow, 72" finish mower, 52" tiller and have never even been close to running out of power. You would get brand new w/ 0% financing, full warranty and the pleasure of breaking it in yourself.

I do not consider anyones post paraniod. I believe most show good sound sense.

40 years ago, as a teenager, I used to hitchhike all over. I could get from FT Dix, NJ to upstate NY almost as quick as a non stop ride. Girls could hitchhike also. I would not even think about it today let along pick one up.

Just a note about a recent purchase if you looking for a log splitter at a decent price. <br>
$996 at tractor supply 22 ton auto return 190 cc briggs engine, horizontal/vertical...you can start/stop the wedge any place you like, its fast and strong, made very well.<br>
I think i could use this splitter for 10 years or more and still sell it used for 700 bux. <br>
Was very happy with this thing. It split everything i threw at it with no problem at all and its fast too. The actual cycle time is much less than the posted ones since you can start/stop the wedge anywhere you want.

Mitch; If you plan to change the fluid at 100 hrs. I wouldn't worry about it. About all I've ever found in the strainer of a new tractor is a few metal chips and some small pieces of gasket thet didn't get completely flushed at the factory. We would likely be shocked to know how many screens that have never been cleaned. Frank.

Thanks for the great responses....My main purpose for this machine is mowing with the 72"mid mower but do burn wood 24/7 in the winter and use the loader alot. I was always using the high and only used low couple times. I see the advantage of the low and the limits of the high now.
As far as mowing...I have always been a fast mower and do mow with this thing in high at what i think is about 10mph on average on the straightaways. I have fairly level ground and do not bounce around much and feel very comfortable at that speed but cannot cut it full speed though. The machine feels well balanced and not tippy at all even though it does sit high.

OK, yes that's right, a belt-driven starter is a sure sign it's also a generator.

Note I said 'generator' not alternator. It is a simple thing to do, any motor when spun will give you back some power when wired correctly.

You should have 3 wires coming off of it. A single wire at one terminal, and 2 on the other, the single wire is the "field" wire, we'll call 'F' here, and the other two are "armature" wires. We'll call them 'A1' & 'A2' here.

Now the way it works is, when you step on the pedal (or hit the key) you connect making a complete circuit in 'A1' between a 12volt battery and the motor and 'F' causing the motor to spin starting the engine. Once the starter solenoid is out of the circuit 'A1' (between motor & battery directly) once again becomes an open circuit, leaving only 'F' & 'A2' (which runs to the regulator) intact, and since the motor is still spinning (and now a generator) because it's belted to the engine, the battery should charge.

In your case though something went south. Check first that you have power between the two terminals of the starter / generator while the engine is running. I bet you will, they rarely go. Now check all connections to see if there is corrosion messing things up, a generator has a very feeble output, it doesn't take much. If everything is clean and making a solid contact, you need a new regulator.

LOL I only wish i had your snow to push. We never get much here in NC we did get a little sleet and snow this week and maybe some more tomorrow. I am like a school kid wanting snow. I have had mine two years now and never used it for snow !!!!

On our 345's I just put my finger under the blade switch when I back up and they keep running, it has gotten to be such a natural motion that I don't even realize I do it anymore. I did consider bypassing the switch but we have two grandkids, ( 11 and 13 ), who spend a lot of the summer with us and like to mow, so for that reason I leave all the safety switch3es hooked up.
