Hettric is correct. The dial on the floor board is to adjust the cutting height of the mid mower or to hold it completely up when you just want to raise and lower the 3 point.
The dial under the seat is to control the rate of drop.
If it still drops slow you may want to change out the hydraulic filter. That has been a problem on my old 755 in the past.

The 'traditional' covers that come from the manufacturers are usually HDPE and break quite readily with age or exposure to cold, or both.<br>

We go about replacements differently.<br>
<br>
We got some plastic tubing just bigger ID than the OD of the hydraulic lines, then cut it into pieces ~1" long and slit it open in a spiral and wrap it around each hose according to it's designation. Then we replace the coloured HDPE cheapie caps with good black rubber ones (that ironically sell for the same money) that last forever.<br>

Coloured electrical tape or zip ties work too.<br>

Most all hydraulic systems will self bleed on loaders as well as hydraulics off the back. The only time you might have trouble is if the cylnders are sequental in operation.

My father has opted to keep my mother out of a nursing home, and she seems to be better for it. He has a caregiver to help him. He is locked into taking care of mom, and I can't get him to leave the house for more than a hour or so.<br>

Once you slip the compression ring over the pipe and tighten the valve, the compression ring is solidly attached to the copper pipe.<br>

When replacing the valve subsequently I assume it is common practice to just use the old compression ring and nut. That's what I have done in the past.<br>

I was wondering if there is some magical way to remove an old compression ring and nut other than cutting off that section of pipe?

You have to find something that works for you. For me some sort of pattern works. Right now I am doing the whole grain, fresh fruits and and vegetables, lean meats lower starch approach. <br>

In the early 90's I used to take a baking potato to work and microwave it at the office for lunch and eat it plain. If I went out for lunch I had a Lettuce Tomato Onions hot peppers and mustard veggie sandwich on a sub roll. Then I would have lots of salad and lean meat for dinner. I combined that with lots of aerobic exercise with a bicycle club. I used to do100 mile bicycle rides in one day on the weekends, I was pretty obsessive. Got my waist to a 33 inch and weight 10 pounds over High School.<br>

But with a family growing I no longer had the time to spend all day out with the club.<br>
<br>
I believe you have to make changes to your behavior that you can find a way to sustain over time, and may be a very different approach for each of us.

I am on release 9, current version is v13.2. They don't seem to have an eclipse plugin. I have not used eclipse in a while, but I thought they had an option where your editing could be done by another editor, have to check that out, though I think that would mess me up, and I'd rather do one or the other. The eclipse editor is intelligent in that it lists all java methods for objects you type in, not so in Ultraedit. Each of these have there uses.<br>

Bill,

An inverter is a electronic device which converts direct current, (DC power) to Alternating Current (AC power).

It can convert the 12 volt direct current used in your tractor, to 120 volt alternating current used in your home.

The bigger (more wattage) the inverter, the better. With this device you'll be able to power a drill out in your pasture for installing gates, for example -- or an electric chainsaw out in your trees. It can also be used for temporary lighting or heat, when the power is out.

I don't yet own an inverter, but I sure would like to have one.

Thanks for the tip on fastening strips--I'll see what's available, and may come back for your experienced advice.

My hope is that by shortening the boards each by 1/8 of an inch, I'll do away with the warping problem. The fastening strips may solve the screw breakage problem.

The current version of the LA463, the LA463-1, has been updated to come standard with a skid-steer type quick coupler. The previous LA463 can be equipped with the L2230A quick coupler to make it skid steer compatible.

You'll need to have a hydraulic block installed and plumbed in. It is best to have this done by a dealer, but you may be able to do this yourself....depending upon your skill level, tools, and experience.

Loaders are available from many sources, but you'll have to make sure you get the proper frame to install on your tractor.

I once owned a Koyker loader. It was a very good loader, and I had no complaints. Koyker loaders are built in South Dakota. See the link below.

Unless you know exactly what you're looking for, it's difficult and risky to purchase used loaders. Look around at some of the sites, such as Koyker, to find out which loader models will fit your tractor. Once you know what you need, it's then possible to look for a used loader with confidence that you're buying exactly what you need.

Murf,

I agree. Putting chains on the rear tires is the way to go.

Most tractors have a rear differential lock pedal on them. With chains on the rear it's possible to lock the rear differential and then have both rear tires pulling at the same time. This is when chains really shine!

The front axle does not have a differential lock. Therefore, only one tire is biting at any given time, and it's usually the tire with the LEAST amount of grip that's turning.

Even in 4-wheel drive, a tractor is really only powering two wheels....one in front, and one in the rear. The other two are slipping, due to the slip design engineered into the differentials.

Engage the rear differential lock, and then watch what a set of chains can do. It's amazing, especially with the proper amount of weight attached to the rear hitch -- such as a snowblower, or a set of counter weights.

The operative words were "over time" Murf. And I don't think the underground tanks at fuel stations can be considered STORAGE tanks - I'd call them HANDLING tanks. The fuel in them is typically refreshed so frequently that the contents have little chance to degrade to the point at which point it can start attacking plastic. <br>

Within six months of refining, most fuels are no longer considered stable. That's when you have to worry about them eating plastic. Part of that six months is consumed by transit, another part underground awaiting sale. Hence it should be reasonable for us to use plastic containers for my suggested 2-3 months. Plastic to transport? - fine. Using plastic to hold backup fuel for a few months? - ok. But LONG TERM STORAGE? - not me.<br>
