I have a John Deere 1050. it is two wheel drive and does not have power steering. i found ou this week that Deere offered a power assist kit at one time. does any one make an aftermarket kit? or does anymore have a kit of any kind. <br>

I'm trying to compare the lift capacity of an LA854 with other brands. The Kubota website doesn't say if their lift capacity is at max. height, 59", or what. Does anyone know? I'm comparing to a JD 400X, and wondering which has more lift capacity.

kt - that's a good thought. I hadn't thought that smaller is easier to get into cramped spots. In fact, now that I think about it, I'm not sure a larger tractor would have fit in our existing barn.

Yet, another good reason to be happy with what I have :)

Looks like the old frige is kaput. We tried all the things that were suggesated, but it still stinks. It must be in the insulation somehow. The stink is gone for a while, but within a few hours it comes back. I called out utility co., they offer a fifty dollar rebate on a new frige that has the blue "Energy Star" label on it plus will pick up the old "Working" frige and give us thirty five dollars for it. Thanks to all who offered their advice, I guess it was just too far gone. Frank.

Sounds to me as though the Cub Cadet folks have their service schedule in good order.

I might add something for you to check. Winter is coming. Tire pressures drop 1 about pound with every 10 degree drop in temperature. (general rule of thumb) For me, that's a loss of 14 pounds of pressure, per tire, from summer to winter.

It's not necessary to inflate your tires to full rated pressure in the winter, as you'll have better traction in the snow with slightly under-inflated tires.......but a loss of 14 pounds is a bit too much.

I run my turf tires at 5 pounds under, for better traction on the snow and ice during the winter months. If you have industrial tires on your Ex3200, you might want to run them even a bit lower than this.

Thanks for the update. Keep us informed as to your impressions of the Ex3200. I like the machine, and may consider trading within a year or two.......unless Kubota comes up with something that really catches my attention before then.

Brokenarrow, the pressure is always there to drop brands. It sure would take the fun out of the business!

For the 60 acres knowing that with a five foot mower you can only mow about three acres an hour I'd be doing some good time evaluations of the mowing.

I'd like to know the lay of the land and maybe recommend a 80horse two wheel drive cab tractor that is large enough to run a ten foot mower. Minimum of a fifty horse with a seven foot mower.

I'm afraid that if I were purchase a white tractor, I'd forget where I parked it half of the year! Either that, or my daughters would back right into it, since it would blend in so well with snow.

I never have a problem finding my Kubota during the winter......and the hunters don't shoot at it either! hehehe.

Ten years on a single battery isn't bad at all. I have a New Holland battery in my Kubota, and it has performed well. (My New Holland dealer is just one mile from me.)

Due to the severe winters we have here in North Dakota, I don't expect my battery to last 10 years. The most I've ever gotten out of ANY battery, is 5 years.

I do recommend putting some grease on the battery terminals, when you replace your battery. This will help prevent the corrosion that takes place. It will also make it much easier for you to loosen the terminals when you do regular battery maintenance.

EW, we certainly seem to be one the same page!! ;)

The system I am developing mounts to the standard 3pth to form a tongue by which to drag it as well as level fore & aft. There is also a rear portion which both forms gauge wheels and gives the ability to level the BB side to side.

I've never used the DeWalt system, but it doesn't matter, it's just a matter of having the electric output from the system activate 12volt valves.

My system would also allow you to run a 3pth BB on the front or rear of a SSL, again using the spacer to gain length and form the bridge effect, as well as giving you gauge wheels. As long as you didn't turn sharp corners, or were running an ASV track type of SSL forward facing /front mounted would work just fine.

Everything is Murphy Built from the ground up but will accept any 'standard' 3pth implement.

Just out of curiosity, how many hours are showing on the meter?

The deposits you mentioned probably came from a slight leak in the head gasket, especially since it was only on that one piston. Either that, or you had one valve that wasn't closing fully.

The push rod that you bent.......did it show signs of wear at the end that goes through the head (top) --- or near the base, where it contacts the cam shaft?

And lastly, what was the reason for tearing this engine down? Did you notice something that caused alarm?

I'll get back to you one way or the other. Mick has a shop full of manuals. I'd be surprised if he didn't have one for the 850, but if not I'll be sure to let you know right away.

Bob, at the time I had a fellow that was in that industry tell me about the two units and their life span. There maybe more now. He was looking at the Kubota,s as well as Mitshibitshi and the better grade honda for comparisions. He wouldn't consider any others in the economy lines and he told me of the story of basically two companies. At the time I had his card and we did communicate after although I didn't sell him a Kubota as he know long before us that they were not going to build them for long, he was looking for a good price and he did like it but not well enough for Dad! He had seen both manufacturers and knew of quality issues with consistance of the wiring.

I agree with Art and Murf as I have had both situations happen. The not-quite connected quick disconnects can be sneaky! Usually when it happens you'll hear the relief valve hiss.
