Mobilus, we may replace the batteries with dry ice to keep the beer cold :) Really - I have a kegerator and have been purchasing kegs for about 20 years. So we have some accessories that we have built up over the years like a keg blanket to keep it cold if outdoors. I have many parties in my driveway with chicken wings and beer on tap for the neighbors. I put that keg on "Bada Bing" for kicks to see if it would fit. But the concept of a roving keg of beer is not far from the truth at my house.

I now have 21 hrs. on my Kioti and I thought I�d fill you guys in on how things
are coming along.
The engine has not used any oil�.not a drop. I can find no leaks anywhere
on the tractor. I park it on concrete in my shop and a leak would show up fast.
The hydrostat transmission really makes mowing a breeze. By backing up, I can
cut all of the grass around my pond even out in the water�s edge. This was real
tricky with my old tractors, that had a manual shift, on the sides where the bank
is steep. It�s very simple with the Kioti to keep things looking neat and manicured.
My wife even noticed how much better our place looks since I got my new toy.
She said the mowing looks professional now. I don�t get tired mowing with the
hydrostat. The old manual transmissions would wear me out after I mowed my
property, and it didn�t look all that great. Several times, I ended up with my old
tractor in the pond.
I have rocks on my place that keep surfacing after it rains. Some of these are
as large as a car tire and weigh several hundred pounds. They could really tear up
a mower. I�ve been using the FEL bucket to get under them and roll them out on the
ground, then put them into the bucket and haul them to a washed out area behind
my pond. When I find loose rocks, I just fill the bucket with rocks and take off for
the dump area. It sure beats a wheelbarrow!
I repaired about 100� of my existing driveway and built about 500� of new
driveway with the FEL. I have run a FEL for 35 years but the �Floating� setting
on the loader is really great for smoothing. I put about 35 tons of milled asphalt
down and I got it very smooth with just the loader. Normally, I would have to
install the box blade to get it this smooth.
A utility company put gas pipelines on two sides of my property. I have used
the loader to re-level this area after it rains. The Kioti in 4 wheel drive and low
range will push more dirt than my old industrial backhoes with 2 wheel drive.
It is really amazing how much work you can do with one of these tractors.
The Kioti has really been a work saver around my place.
I have a BMW motorcycle and it has 12 volt plugs below the seat for heated
clothing. I have a heated vest and it makes all the difference in the world riding
in cold weather. The bike also has heated handgrips. I have ridden for hours
with the temp. below 30 degrees. There are all types of heated clothing available
for motorcycle riders. They even have heated coveralls.
I think I�m going to install a BMW plug beside the seat so that I can use my
heated vest if I have to run the tractor in cold weather. I know Texas is not the
coldest place on the planet, but sitting on a tractor in 25 degree weather for
8 hours with the wind blowing 35 mph is no picnic! Any heat at all makes a
big difference.

Only input I can offer is that several farmers around here use them, have older models and say they are fine. They were cheap as well, at least comparatively so.

As for the age of the machine, I would ensure that common parts are readily available. I turned down a deal on a JCB due to no local parts and British Metric everything.

I believe the Canadian dollar is worth about the same as the US at this point.

A $1000 cheaper and about the same size?- Cub Cadet has just moved up on the list I have going on in my head. I told myself I wouldn't spend more than $15000 for a tractor w/ a FEL and a trailer- and I wouldnt go below 24 HP. So, if CC comes out with a new 28HP, I'm getting closer.

Oh, and that 7.5 digging depth is pretty good. Thats about what my JD 48 does- maybe 8.

If you are talking about a JCB 1400 TLB I can help you out, I've still got one, used to have a bunch of them at one point, it is now called the model 214.

There isn't any forums that I know of per se, but I can probably answer your questions. I might still have some old manuals too.

As Murf sez, there generally are restricted clearances there and the only thing likely to fit would be cable type chains.<br>

As far as tire-to-chain fit, there are two ways to approach it. <br>
<br>
One way would be to measure the width and height of your tires and then go to a tire store and find a truck tire with similar dimensions and buy the chains for that size.<br>
<br>
The other method is to buy a set of chains that you know are wide enough but too long and cut them down to fit. I have done that several times with good success.<br>
<br>
Option three: run a tape measure over the current R-4's and replace them with a radial mud and snow tire with the same or very close circumference. They will outperform the R-4's in every possible way.<br>

Worth these days.<br>
Solid deck.<br>
Two of the caster plastic wheels could be replaced.<br>
Blades are not all beat up but could be sharpened.<br>
PTO shaft is a little sluggish to turn (my hand),I feel this is from sitting in the barn it's been living in for some time...lack of use.<br>
It was traded to me in a along with many other things in a could you help me clean up my shop event.<br>

Thanks again. I had the same thoughts, but you certainly put the last nail in the coffin. Our RTV works great for hauling stuff around to the garden, getting the mail, and general transportation - very useful. But I, too, had some strange occurences when in the rough where no wheels seemed to make it want to go. I had to get out and lift one end to get another wheel down while my wife drove it. I like it for what it is but will keep it out of the snow.

Off to get some chains..... these weird tractor wheel sizes are driving me crazy...

Thanks Guys for your recommendations. I did go look at that new Cub Cadet/Yanmar. I am hooked. That is one nice tractor and smaller than my Kubota for around the house. I had two Yanmars before and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Don't know how it works but it does have four ways and signals. The flasher does however have wires going up into the voltage regulator.

(seems wierd but it works)
