Many years ago, under the command of General MacArthur, the U.S. sent one of our best scientists to Japan, in an effort to help rebuild that nation. IT WORKED!

Dr. Demming is generally credited for the excellent products being produced in Japan. We first started feeling the effects of Demming's efforts in the early 1970s, when Datsun, Toyota, and Honda started making big dents in the market share.

Dr. Demming tried to teach his system of management to the U.S. corporate leaders, but he was brushed off, like lint. It's now some 60 years later, yet Dr. Demming's system of management and production controls are still being shunned by American corporate managers.

Murf, made a call to local rental center. Their only excavator is about a 25 or so hp Cat.(size is what I think I would want.) Rate is high to me for Saturday just below $300. For a week $757 and 2 weeks right at twice that with a 9 hour limit for a Sat and 40 hr per week limit. The best I can guess I would have about $2,000 low side in rental fees.

You're absolutely correct, Sir. The 810 chipper mounted on a 50hp tractor will certainly burp a few times when asked to perform at maximum capacity.

I read the spec sheet on the 810 chipper, and I'm impressed with the size and weight of the machine.....especially the flywheel. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the flywheel on this chipper weighs in at over 600 pounds, and has four very large and adjustable blades on it.

It's going to chew some ***t up, even with a smaller tractor attached to it. It's not easy to stop a 600 pound flywheel once it begins spinning, especially if the blades are maintained. The feed monitoring system is the key to making this machine work properly, even with the minimum horsepower tractor attached to it.

Yes, it will burp a few times on the larger stuff, but those large diameter pieces are short in length, allowing the machine to work at full capacity the majority of the time.

My problem is personal. I almost cry when I hear that someone is going to chop up a tree that's more than 6 inches in diameter. I'd give my left arm to have that firewood available for home heating. But, without my left arm, I'm not sure how I'd get the firewood into the house. There's always a catch. hehehe.

If the load was in the center of the bucket then likely it is the bucket that is twisted, general purpose buckets are made from relativley light material and are intended to carry a load very evenly spread out.

If however the load was off to one side, and the FEL was loaded to the point the rear wheels came up, and then the FEL was manipulated such that the tractor jerked around trying to yank the stump free, it is VERY likely the loader frame itself is twisted. I've seen them racked from nothing more than lifting a heavy load that was way offside.

As has been mentioned, a good tape measure and a flat level concrete floor will tell you all you need to know. Start measuring diagonals across varoius points of the FEL.

Well I was to get mine back but.... while they had it just sitting there so long and noticed that my front end was leaking, again so they went ahead and replaced the seals. Much to there surprise they were working on it again and found it was wet yet. Had a hairline crack that look some real close looking for. Had to order that part, so the thought is now that I should get it back this week early. All other repairs that I have had done they have come out picked it up and delivered it again at no charge with in a few days, but the other repairs were also during the slow time of the year. Now just crossing my fingers and toes for the next 30+ days on cost. Thanks everyone

I don't know all of your uses but the independent Pto has been a stronger unit in the grand L-series then the standard units.
When the tractor's used mostly for back forty work the the standard has been a great value but as the tractor hits into the front yard with a few options then some of the standard features of the Grand series makes a better fit for the long run.

I think both models have their place and used appropriately they both can grate between ranges but the shuttle on the grand L can be a nice feature if a lot of forward reverse work is being done. The shuttles are normally used from reverse to forward the most, when filling the bucket or dumping normally the clutch is used to be in the exact location needed.

Thanks for your input, I had the clutch changed at 50 hours. It was again changed at 130 hours, it now has 230 hours and needs another. It has been adjusted properly and is only used to rake with. If thats the best they can do for a 30,000 dollar tractor I just don't need it guys.

I have no experience with the Hinomoto tractors, but I have some experience with the Chinese made Rhino.

From your description, it seems to me as though your tractor has several different PTO speed settings. With most U.S. implements, you'll want to run at either 540rpm (common on most implements) or 1000rpm. (common on some hydraulic pumps)

I'm just guessing here, but it is most likely set up to run the fastest revolutions at the rearmost setting. You might be able to tell by just watching and listening to the tractor as the PTO is running. With most U.S. mowers, tillers, etc...... you'll want to use the slowest PTO RPM setting. (540rpm)

If you have a strobe light, you can set the strobe to 540 beats per minute and see if the shaft appears to come to a stop.

one of pedals located by the heels of your feet is to lock the rear differential. I'm not sure which pedal this is, but one of them serves this function. Essentially, this gives your tractor Posi-lock. It will be very difficult to make a turn with this lever engaged. It is only to be used when going in a straight line, such as when pulling a plow down the length of the field. If you attempt to make a turn with the posi-lock engaged, you'll immediately understand what I'm getting at here.

The other heel pedal is probably your creeper gear lever. If your tractor is moving very slowly right now, it is probably due to the fact that the creeper gear is engaged.

You won't hurt anything by experimenting with these levers and controls, as the Hinomoto tractor is very simple in design, and nearly indestructible under normal use.

Once you determine which PTO setting gives you 540rpm, you will want to make sure that you always start your implement in motion while the tractor is set at the lowest engine rpm setting...engine idle. Once the implement is in motion (mower or tiller is turning) you can then throttle the tractor up.

You should always operate the mower or tiller at or near full engine RPM. There should be a mark on the tachometer that indicates the max. PTO setting. It should be clearly marked on the face of the gauge. Generally speaking, all PTO operated implements are designed to run at full engine throttle.

I caution you --- NEVER attempt to engage the PTO when the tractor is at full throttle. This is to be done only when the engine is at idle. Throttle up ONLY AFTER the implement begins turning.

Do a bit of experimenting at slow speeds, on level ground, and at low engine rpms. You won't hurt anything by experimenting with these controls.

I know nothing of your machine but it would seem that if you do get the pulley bolts off and the pulley, you may never get the new belt on. There should be some sort of adjustment bolt that allows the alternator to slide enough to allow the belt to come off, install a new and readjust it. That said, I have had to in some emergencies used a flat screw driver under the belt to coax it off/on by flicking the starter (with spark plugs disconnected or power off so it won't start). Be VERRRRY careful.

The unit I really like is the 72854 / or the 76854 - but again I am only talking 1.5 acres here and it seems like the unit and tractor may be overkill...

I hate to drop down to a B series or a BX but being on 1.5 acres it may be the "sensible" thing to do and trash the rest of the debri...

mine is a 2002 and page 24 in my owners manual claims that the tractor may be equipped with either a single stage or a dual stage clutch both mid pto and the rear are live , well at least it is on my tractor,some where in my literature the 4wd is listed to have the dual stage clutch.found it JOHN DEERE'S "GROUNDS CARE EQUIPMENT PURCHASING GUIDE" PAGE 2 "790 4WD TRACTORS HAVE CONTINUOUS LIVE PTO OPERATION AS OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT." IT'S A PART OF THE 4WD OPTION.

I've never owned a tractor with a cab. There are times when I wish I had one..... especially when mowing in the early summer......during mosquito season.

I grew up on a Minneapolis Moline U. My uncle had the tractor with the cab. I was always the person who got stuck cleaning the windows, vacuuming out the thing, and wiping up the messes my uncle made when he missed the spittoon.

Come to think of it......I'll probably never have a cab. I rather enjoy spitting over the rear wheels. Copenhagen is better than any air conditioner. hehehe.

Besides that, it's danged hard to shoot skunks from the tractor, when surrounded by a cab. My Colt .45 is the next best thing to Copenhagen.

Is the floating three point system necessary?

Absolutely not. With a little bit of foresight, any tractor operator could raise or lower his three point arms in anticipation of the tractor going into a dip, or over a slight rise. However, for the person who mows several acres each day.... every day.....the floating three point system is a handy feature.

There's a guy who sells gadgets on television.......I forget his name. One of his favorite sales pitches goes like this......"Just set it, and forget it". Well, that television salesman could just as well be selling Tebben mowers with the floating three point system. Once you set your three point arms to the proper height, there's never any need to adjust them again while mowing, and the mower will never skip, nor leave any uneven grass behind.

The floating three point system isn't meant to be used for mowing ditches or embankments. It is designed for use on finishing mowers, where a professional appearance is desired. The Tebben mower will not handle any rough terrain, as the leveling wheels are spaced too far apart -- front to rear -- to make it useful on knobs, or deep dips. It is meant to be used on relatively flat ground with rolling hills, and shallow, wide gulleys........as may be found on most any golf course.

In reality, the Tebben mower, utilizing the floating three point system, makes the Three-Point mower act more like a belly mower, rather than a brush hog. It's a nice feature, but not at all necessary. It will save a lot of elbow grease, and it's very convenient for those who earn a living with their mowers.

FYI My Blue TC33D PTO can be engaged while running and off the seat, but has to be disengaged to restart engine.
