I have a E14D and the second switch is for the signals, do you have a oil filter number by chance? Can't find one yet.

Thanks for setting me straight on the sulkys behind the mowers. That makes me wonder too, how do they back out of a corner? I think I'll leave the seat on the mower and just ride along. Frank.

Homedog; I don't keep up on prices unless I'm in the market for something, but I don't think the package price you quote sounds too bad. I would however make a few changes in the equiment you are buying. First forget the ballast box and buy a three point hitch box blade with just the manual adjust scarifier teeth, I'd stick with a major brand like Land Pride, they cost a bit more but they are built heavier add quite a bit of weight compared to a fleet store brand, plus they are nearly indestructable, I haven't bent or broke mine in several years of tough use. It will serve the same purpose as the ballast box and it will amaze you with how much dirt you can move with one of them. Chief's advice on the MX5 is good, I've had one for several years and they are a tough machine. Careful as you may be you will still forget that hidden stump or stone that would likely destroy or badly damage a low dollar cutter. Deere also sells the lower cost LX series cutters, but I don't think they would be much better than a fleet store brand. Not knowing your age or if you have any physical limitations will dictate whether you buy the Imatch hitch. I'm big on Land Pride brand equipment so my quick coupler is a Land Pride, but regardless of the brand trying to push a machine the size of an MX5 cutter around to line up the hitch points is a struggle. I've seen some literature on an automatic Power Take Off hookup device that Deere has recently announced to further ease the hook up of PTO powered Imatch equipment like the MX5 or the tiller. I haven't actually saw one but it does sound intertesting. Frank.

Any one of the differences are compelling reasons by themselves to go with the 'Bota, but one is perhaps most compelling....and that is the 4 wheel drive. A SubCUT is absolutely worthless without 4 wheel drive.<br>

It's not even a matter of price, it's a matter of usability. And in this case it is not a matter of Kubota vs. John Deere, because if the features were reversed, I would tell you to go with the JD.<br>

I won't ad anything to Chief or Ihookem's comments, all good advice. I have a 4310 Deere, been a good reliable servant. The only thing I'll ad is a very breif rendition of my old sermon on dealers. Both brands you mention are good tractors. Don't worry too much about a few dollars difference you may save by going to a distant dealer or buying from a dealer you are not comfortable with. Both brands will eventualy break down and need routine service, that's where good LOCAL, RELIABLE, dealership will make or break your enjoyment of tractor ownership. Enjoy what you buy. Frank.

MacDaddy: Years ago I wrote automotive technical manuals. We would have the engineers review the manuals, make changes if necessary and sign-off. We had a feeling they were not fully reviewing them, so we put in many places a bogus torque spec: "Tighten until it breaks then back off one-quarter turn". They still didn't catch it.

Of course there is the idea you would use the come along or boom pole for something. Both are worth having. A thought if you go with the come along, they can be used to pull either a pickup or small tractor from a small bog if it is large enough. kt<br>

Myself and my employees have been working on golf courses now for in excess of 20 years. None of us have ever been (thankfully) hit by, or even seen lightning hit someone.

However, according to the Federal Government, there have been 3,239 people killed, 13,057 people injured, 9,718 of them permanently injured in the last 40 years.

Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't ever happen.

Insurance is a good example, you don't buy it because you plan on having an accident.

Generally speaking any high quality fluid for hydrostatic drive units should be fine.

In our non-Kubota units we use Case-IH Hy-TRAN fluid and have never had a problem.

I am desperately trying to find a manual for the mitsubishi D2650FD I just bought. This is a very rare tractor in Australia and I cannot find a manual here. At least I would like to know the specs to adjust the valves which are very noisy.
I thought that having the same tractor you might tell me where you got your manual. Thanks. Frankie

I had a JD 950 and aways had trouble with my brake shoes and they were at the time $65.00 each. I got sick of that real quick and sent them out to get them reshoed. Some auto parts store can send them out for you. <br>

Don't know about the BX 23 but on the BX 22 SAE 80 or 90 gear oil is an OK lube right in the manual. I would not be afraid to put it in. UDT runs right out of mine but the Gear oil stays in .

I'm amazed you could still find a new BX1500 but that sure does look like the best bargin between the two even with the 455 being the lawn mower that it is.

No flakes...other than the owner:) ...but I have never slipped on it. And it rains sometimes in Olympia WA! The floor is exaclty what I had hoped for in every way.

I too tried some of that "epoxy" from the local hardware store and it begin to flake right away in the tire track area. I have a collector vehicle that is in my shop and it is parked in one place for quite a while some times so if one were to get some flaking, that would be when you moved it after it had set there for 60 days or so.

The 5x25 series is a big jump in size and weight from the 4000 series. The 5225 and 5325 use the same style engine as the 4x20 series although in a 5 cylinder version. The 5425 and 5525 use the older proven design engine. If I were you and was going to make the leap to 5000 series, I would go with the 5425 for the heavier duty engine. Or if that is too much of a strain the budget, I would consider a used 5210 or 5220. They are both available with the power reverser also. I don't see too many changes from the ten and twenty series that would make me spend the extra money on the 25 series anyway. the only problem I can think of to watch for on a used one is to make sure the brakes are not dragging. If you can't push it easily on level ground in neutral, you have a problem that will require removal of the final drives. I've seen quite a few of those. Just my opinion.
