In my phd experience not having down pressure was not a major issue. Am sure in some soils or roots or such it is. I sure would not want to be the person applying down pressure by hand. Do use slow rpms if you are in roots as if you catch enough roots the bit can run down very quickly, even lifting the tractor. If you will search this site you will find many suggestions on PHD. If you use a pto model and you do jam it with roots, cut the tractor OFF, with PTO disengage use a pry bar to manually reverse the bit. Be sure it is removed before you operate it again. BTW, I had much rather use the tractor PHD than the hand held models. kt

I have had the same Craftsman grease gun since I was a teenager. The only thing I can add is that I don't detach the plunger end but just pull and lock the plunger. I then reattach the pump end, and before I release the plunger I turn the bleed screw open a turn and regulate the bleed screw as I push the plunger in, I tighten the bleed screw as soon as a little grease comes out. Always pumps grease first squeeze.

Glad to hear you enjoy the new toy. Did you get the winch? I put one on mine and it has been a great tool. I have used it to recover my 350 and also to save myself when i got in too deep. I was even able to use it to help move my 4000 lb tractor when it froze up this winter.

I am also thinking about the BX1500, contact Precision small Engines, College Park MD at 301-982-0900. You can also call Kubota directly and they can locate units that are still out there. I hope that this helps.:)

Do you have a way to transport the machine? Roading the machine back and forth any distance is not good to say nothing about the hassle factor. Do either of you have dry storage for it or will it always be at the place that does? Do you have equal ability to pay for maintenance and upkeep? Will others in either family use or abuse it?

Joint ownership is great if both sides know the potential drawbacks and can easily mitigate potential problems....because they will come up!

The DK 35 is a nice unit.
I have a 2001 model DK 35, it has been good, solid and reliable so far. 950 hours and the only part I've broken/replaced has been a tachometer cable

Looked at all three specs, I think any will be good for you, you'll love hydrostatic. I'm with prev reply, try all three, drive em, feel the fit, go with what makes you comfortable.

As for me, I like my old Kubota, but I did not have the ability to compare newer mod due to cost restrictions.

I agree with Chip you have a EPA engine.

If you have not already changed the injection pump oil ??? I would recommend you to. Also I would use 5-30 engine oil and see if that helps/corrects the cold start idle problem.

Art we had a guy in town too, who probably for the reason (DUI and suspended license) was riding his machine as sole transporation. He was pulled over several times and the cops warned him that he drives it on the road he'll get a big ticket. So what he do? Drove across the street and cops nailed him.

Many of the terminals are all machine done, I guess that doesn't make much difference as to man or machine but sometimes they don't get a good crimp on the wire and the can easily be pulled out.

I have the same nosie on my 1992 L-2950 with 550 hr on it. we all with this problem need to contact kubota and get a recall on all ever clutch's. and if they dont do any thing about it we should make a class action lawsuit or somthing?
