A lot of guys like the Supersteer on those machines. They do increase maneuverability but in tight quarters like your barn but also can cause some issues. It used to be that the SS axle would reduce loader capacity some but that may not be the case anymore. I like a hydro transmission for it's infinite speed ranges but if you're doing lots of ground engagement work a gear pulls better. Tires? Personally I really dislike R4s since they are really stiff and don't get good traction in clay soil wet or dry. But if you work on both turf and in rougher areas they may be the best bet. The NH guys can probably speak more to the specifics of the TC40.

Green as green can be!!!I rented a skidsteer last year....fun but I was jerky but ...fun. I operated a baby escavtor 15 years ago, don't remember operting controls but fun fun fun. Like I said ANY tips would help. I thinking slow and easy at 1st, diging dirt up and moving it around. Then ROCKS.

Murf, thank you very much, you are a nice guy. I don't believe what everybody else says about you!!!! hehe. My brother-inlaw works for a truck company, may take a month, did not give me a price. He call in some connections and got $500.00 to Sudbury for an other company (towing). I would like it tommorrow!!!! but the wife would not be OK with me digging up the yard. I'll wait and see, if I get impatient I'll pay the $500. I don't think that's bad. I just drove it won't do it again.

I checked the push rod and they were all fine. I emoved the pan and foubd a rod bearing spun. Replaced those, put it back together and still the same noise. I filled the oil but noticed it does not show on the stick. Where could the oilhave gone????? No leaks and plug in place. Did not se an oil pump ,where is it located/ These may be dumb questions, First time working on a diesel engine.

I have just started having the same problem on a L2650. The lever has been a little stiff lately, freed up real good for an hour or two and now will not move at all. I have it torn down ready to pull off the top cover but have run into a snag. Is there anywhere I can download a shop page for this before I ruin something or can anyone here give any how to's? Thanks!

Ken, if possible talk with who ever had it and find out why they got rid of it. If they tell you it was just too small or would not handle what they wanted it to do, gently prode them to find out if they might have abused it somehow to know that. I bought one slightly larger sight unseen based upon relationship with the dealer and never regretted it. I would not be scared of a few more hours either. Especially if the dealer had dones the recommended service on it.<br>

I forgot the price, in my area the used price on Kubotas hold very well. Went 80 miles and it was a few thousand less on the used ones. Same on new.<br>

Art I assume it could be done but is it a kit to add a center PTO to a 7800 or do you have to buy each piece? Is this something that needs to be done by a trained professional or could someone do it who had plenty of mechanical skills? Roughly how much would it cost and how long of a job is it?

Thanks for the reply! My TC30 is the hydro model which should work just fine for "easing" into some heavy snow. I'm contemplating stepping up to a larger tractor like the TC45DA. I've been doing a lot of snow removal lately and a little more power would be nice. I use the FEL in conjunction with a box blade on the back end for dragging snow away from tight spots. Don't get me wrong, the TC30 is a real little workhorse but you know how it goes, bigger is usually better!

Front wheel drive cars like my wifes Camry have the same clearance problems. The answer there is a set of low profile cable-chains.

Maybe you could find a set that will fit your fronts.

The other point to bear in mind is physical size.

An L2800 doesn't have a whole lot of physical size to start with, so any work you do with, mowing, FEL work, or B/H work will be done at a speed that sort of falls in line with it's size. So, if your tree farm is a weeknd thing, some jobs are going to take most of the weekend to do them. On the other hand, if their not urgent jobs, you will probably find that if you wait till you have a few jobs lined up, and rent a full size TLB (like a Case 580 size) for a weekend, or a few weekdays during some vacation time, you will get all of them and likely a few other things done in the same amount of time.

Having your own stuff is however, much more convenient, but unless you need a B/H on a regular basis, and don't mind putting it on and taking it off when you want the 3pth for other things, it's nice to be able to do things when you want to.

The other option is, especially in areas like yours, you can often buy an older (but still very serviceable) 2WD TLB for about the same money as a new B/H for your 'Bota would cost you.

Things to consider, The truck and trailer to move them. Do you prefer the gst gear style transmission or the hydro? If your work list might make one more valuable to you do to it's size.

Rragent; The serial number plate is on the right hand side of the front frame just ahead of the engine block below the steering shaft. Give me the number and I can look it up in a jiffy. There are also tons of websites on old tractors that have all that kind of info too. There a neat little tractor I've got one that I finally have completely rebuilt tip to toe, but not painted yet, that's one of my summer goals. Enjoy the Cub. Frank.

No problem with the HST. I pull it in low range, WOT.

The 14" plow is really too big for the width of the rear wheels. By that I mean that the plow cuts 28" and the distance between the rear tires is only 26". I have turf tires. To set the tractor up correctly it should have wheel spacers that set the inside track of the rear wheels so they are the same as the inside track of the fronts. That way when the tractor is in the furrow the front tire can run up against the furrow wall and the rear tire will also run there. As it is, the front tire should be held away from the furrow wall an inch or two so the rear tire does not crowd the furrow wall. I don't plow much, just my garden and and a couple of small areas that I planted to grass that were weeds before. I have the crossbar of the plow adjusted so that it tracks correctly and cuts 14" on the first furrow. It takes some adjustment time to get the top link length correct, but not too bad. I grew up with Ford tractors and 3PTH plows so that helps. I keep notes on the length of the top link so I can set it where it needs to be when I want to use it. My top link gets used for other implements, too. I keep notes on all the settings so I can readjust it when I change implements. Save a lot of time.

The chassis of that tractor is used for cultivation in some areas. That is light work with little load on the rear axles. Depending on your uses, I like to see the reasonably close to the tractor to cut the stress on the axle.
