One other question Art...and I know this is a change of thread, but do you have list prices for Woods BB60C (slip clutch) or the BB72C? And the list price for the Woods BB600C? I can't find this anywhere. Thanks.

Remember you have two adjustments You set the safty and adjust the linkage also make sure the front floor support is not bent. It it is also the back stop for the peddle

I have been thinking about getting a new vehicle for quite awhile. Since my Ranger has decided to start dying in traffic for no particular reason (without leaving a code behind) it's time to buy a new truck. For me the perfect truck would be small, reliable, and diesel (or at least get great mileage). Unfortunately nobody makes such a beast so I'm leaning towards a 4 cylinder 5 sp. 4WD Tacoma. I rarely have a need to tow or haul heavy loads and figure on those occasions other arrangements can be made. Anyone have any reason why this would be a bad choice? A purchase is probably two months away since I want to sell a couple of other vehicles first so I'll have a hefty down payment.

I have a bx1500 with a KK XB box blade. I have about 20 hours on it right now. With rippers it weighs almost 300lbs. The weight is no problem for the tractor. In fact I add 100lbs to it from time to time. I would not go any larger than 48" unless all you are planning to do is grade horse corrals. My BB ran me about $350 from TSC. I could not bring myself to spend $600+ on the other brands because I will not be using it that much in the long run. Also, the KK XB models give you more lift height due to the fact that they are designed with the lower geometry of the BX line in mind.

For my two cents worth.....

The FEL arms alone, plus the weight of the QT plate, and the part of the plow frame it carries will be more than enough front end ballast.

You will definitely need 3pth ballast though. I usually leave the box blade on the 3pth, it weighs about 1,000 pounds. If I trailer the machine away somewhere, I put on the 3pth ballast box, it weighs about 700 pounds, but I can hydraulically move it out away from the 3pth and effectively increase that a bit by leverage.

From a visibility point of view, mounting the blade inside the bucket is a PITA, the bucket blocks your view of the blade and usually means the blade hits the corner of the bucket before it can fully angle.

The angle of the blade can be done two ways, tap into the bucket curl circuit, or run lines from a rear remote, I have done both, either one works fine.

I did finally purchase an old American log splitter this weekend (although not the one I considered at the beginning of this post). Here are the things I am thinking about. I have an open center system on my JD, correct? Therefore the valve on this splitter should be open center. I assume it is but am not sure how to confirm this. The lever does return to center whether you retract or expand the piston. I think the hoses need a larger 1/2 connector for my "power beyond". The owner could not connect the hoses to his backhoe ports on his NH for a demo. (It was previously hooked up to a Kubota.) He had to tap into his loader ports. Finally the hose closest to the lever on the valve should be the input, correct? Anything I have wrong? Any other things I should look for?

ThermoStart and glow plugs are not the same thing. I had TS on my YM240, and it would fire up a below zero engine like it was a summer day. <br>

The TS system is comprised of a small bulb-like reservior for diesel fuel connected by hose to a heating element in the intake manifold. The heating element is not unlike an automotive cigarette lighter, and it's connected to a button or switch on the dash. When you want a cold start assist, you energize the heating element from the dash. The colder the air temp (and subsequently the intake manifold) the longer it takes to warm up the heating element. When it's "at temperature", you crank the engine. Vacuum is drawn, which in turn pulls a small amount of diesel fuel out of the TS reservior. If the heating element is already over 250F, it's possible for the dripping fuel to ignite right there in the intake manifold (hence the other name "flame heater"). In that case, the flaming fuel is drawn into the combustion chamber where it mixes with cold fuel from the main tank. The cold fuel is warmed, making detonation combustion easier in a cold cylinder. But even if the fuel is not flaming when it enters, it's still been warmed considerably as it passes through the cigarette lighter-like heating element.<br>

So after all that, I'll finally get to the point. Thermostart is a dead simple system. But - if only one of its components isn't working, the whole system fails. <br>

If you can start a stone cold 1500D with WD40 or starting fluid, but NOT with the ThermoStart - suspect the ThermoStart. If then - once started - the engine quits, start it again and try to keep it running with the primer pump. If that works, you've got an injector pump problem. If that doesn't work, the strainer in the main tank might be fouled.<br>

But you wrote one thing that needs clarification; about why only one line gets fuel. Would you elaborate on that please?<br>

Roy don't worry about the spacers , flip the wheels load the tires you will be surprised at the huge difference this makes ,I was originally looking for the spacers , Craig.

Whiteturbo; We are both of German decent so she was taught by her mother to cook the old German way. No pink in the middle meat around here, so done you can't keep it on your fork, lots of real mashed potatoes, gravy and home made pies. When I need some grunt work done all I have to do is tell the boys that Mom will have roast beef on Sunday and they all show up. I've found it's best to get the work done before we feed them tho. So maybe better buy a new pair of coverslls and keep the 4310. Frank.

I've got the TC 33D and very happy with it. It's got all the bells and whistles: hydrodrive, cruise control, tilt/telescopic wheel, Super Steer, suspension seat, lights, etc. Back in '02 I paid $13,500 out the door. I could use a loader but have have other equipment for that. If you're moving dirt around but not picking it up necessarily, all you need is a box scraper IMHO. That's what I use commercially for grading after using the bobcat.

Well finaly got a chance to look at the lever for the hyd. lift. Mine has a single nut on one side of the lever and a rubber grommit on the other side of the lever. Gave the nut about a 1/4 turn and now it stays put. Thanks for the help everyone, this is by far the beast site for help and advice, bar none.

I just recently traded in my bx22 for a L2800,29 hp w/more torque than the 7800. I have a Kenneling business with 4.5 acres of mowing, posthole digging (bh75 w/ 10' bucket), trenching, irrigation pond excavation, grading, snow blowing (3pt),york raking and roto tilling. I seriously considred the L3400 which is the same tractor with 5 more hp. The cost was 1200 to 1500 more and concluded that all it would do is use more fuel. Unlees you are going to run pto operated machinery that requires more than 22.5hp the L2800 is a lot of tractor for the money.
