We had a couple of squirrels move into our attic and they raised a brood. Our roof has a big cathedral ceiling but it's open in other areas. I put up a couple of live traps and pulled 13 squirrels out, two adults and the rest little ones. They got in through a gap where three roof planes came together. I jammed some copper wool in there and have had no more trouble in three years.

Wellp---drove 75 miles today only to find out the starter was okay. Seems the dealer back home replaced my starter back in '02 when it had only 20 hours on it not with a new, off-the-shelf part but a rebuilt one! But the technican showed me it was till in great working order, but he repalced the solenoid anyway ($50) since I asked him as was already there just in case that was the problem.

Now the control module is suspect, since the battery is relatively new and is the gell-cell type.

The problem was the rusted up pivot points on the release lever. Applied plenty of heat and finally got them to move. I am probably going to put grease fittings on to alleviate this problem ever happening again!

I don't agree with it, but up here in Cannuckistan, the reg.'s are pretty soft as regards to trailers.

A 'regular' drivers licence allows you to drive any truck (with hydraulic brakes) or a combination of truck and trailer up to 24,200 pounds, provided the trailer itself is not over 10,120 pounds (actual weight, not GVWR).

A trailer over 3,000 pounds only has to have "adequate" brakes for the weight.

This allows some weinnie who has no idea what he's doing to go down the road with a pretty big load.

Further, and even scarier, the annual commercial inspections do not apply, and are not required, for RV's. So as long as the truck is under 11,000 pounds GVWR, neither the truck nor camper have to ever be inspected.

Let me tell you, the thought of an unchecked 10,000 pound 5th wheel on the back of an unchecked pickup, with a driver who may never have driven one before, scary the bejeebers out of me.

Very interesting... It sounds like yours is wired better (more fail safe) in the event a contact fails. I thought it was odd that the "PTO off" was paralleled with another signal vs. being in series with it. It appears they corrected that in your model.

Eitherway, glad to hear your bypass was faily easy to do.

I checked that yesterday after I got back to the shed, but I didnt see anything obviously pulled apart and I hadnt been driving through or working around anything that might have snagged on the underside of the tractor. I will look again though and thanks for the suggestion. Also I forgot to mention that I have an eHydro model if that makes a difference.JP.

I have a L4310 that gets Powerstart diesel additive year round. Also, I plug the engine block heater in about 4 hours (with timer) prior to when operation is planned below 10 deg.

It'll start below 10, but sure doesn't sound good.

After talking to a Kubota rep. out of columbus , he found several dealers that were more than happy to look at the mower , it's at the dealer now said they would look at it asap , Craig.

Ken, there is no doubt that there are not break downs. We have found that the first thing that stops a lot of the problems is education. The problems that arise after potential abuse or neglect from not operating correctly drops the amount of repairs needed. The biggest thing that I refer to is many makes seem to have problems that come of time, your battery on the deeres, the hydraulic oil coolers on the blue and red, strike me dead probably Kubota will have one tommorrow! All manufacturers have different quality levels they use for their products. The other thing is it is tough on a dealer when they have little or no control over the manufacturers desision as to who they represent. The IH compacts that were later to be Cadets and the supply chain of parts. We only need to look at the posts for Belarus for one that has come and gone in the last twenty years. Where will some of these marketing companies be in 10 or 15 years, are they there for a dollar or the passion? I've seen many go out of business and the number of customers that come thru our doors hoping on finding a part for a twenty five year old tractor with a lot of hours left in the chassis, just not all the parts needed to work with it! I do know many different types of dealers as thru the years I've watched them come and go, I've seen them switch towns, change names and then leave the area all together, I felt sorry for the customers because at best they only got lip service. Their are a lot of good dealers both new and old with good help and some not so good. I would hope everyone is happy with their purchase and that they bought the right equipment to do the job the first time with years of joyful return no matter what brand or dealer!

If I remember right mahindra only provides backhoes for 4wd models. I have a 4500 2wd, what would be a good backhoe for it?

What does it have for opening discs? There are single,double as well as stagered. The rods that hold the ground pressure on the discs is how we tell how well worn they are as well as the diameter of the discs. With the price you have found even if worn and with the proper attachments it is a good price.

Good call! you don't seem to have any regular or daily chores for the tractor and with the 160 acres might get into some heavier work. The older two wheel drives are more plentiful and they should meet your price range. To compare a two wheel drive to a four wheel drive just figure an extra twenty percent on the horsepower and you should be fine with the proper ballast.
