As much as I enjoy using my JD4310, I think that I would hire this one out. I agree that it could definitely be done, but how much time do you have? Even if you can up-root the trees, that�s a hell of a lot of back-and forth to the brush pile. And after the 5-in trees are gone, you�re still left with a pretty scabby site. A small dozer could knock it off in an afternoon, and would have your entire site rough-graded in the process. Also, the dozer will neatly stockpile the topsoil that will be stripped from the immediate area around your house. Later, you can go back through with your box-blade and/or rake and finish grade the site yourself in preparation for planting grass. JMO. Good Luck.

Murf, I didn't think of that and it's certainly a possibility. It just seems so consistent since it's always one pine needle and there are hundreds of webs. If I walk the trail and clean out the webs one day new webs are built the next and there always seems to be a single pine needle hanging there. Never 2 or three, always one. Some time spent sleuthing with a magnifying glass might reveal more.

Oops, I forgot to mention in my previous post, that the dealer that gave me the $4200 price is by far the lowest cost dealer in the area. They undercut the price for my tractor by almost $2,000. When I took that number to my local dealer, about 8 miles from home, they came within $500. It was worth it to me to not have to drive 45 miles, but for the hoe, I may do the drive. The local dealer said around $5000 for the hoe.

Redrum, I know in Michigan that if you buy a new car and it is damaged before you get it off the lot, the car can be sold as new without disclosure providing the damage doesn't exceed a certain percentage of the value (30%??) (an example of "damage" is like if the car fell off the car hauler---it happens a lot). So I wonder if the tractor that donated your parts could legally and technically be sold as new, and if they would have to disclose that they did substitute parts that did not come on it.

But I'm jis' sayin'

Art, I can not really comment on the new outboards as I don't have the parts catalogs anymore. In the old line even the V6 had the same thing where the difference between the 150 and 175 was just carb jets. I think Deere with the differences in the Yanmar engines being slight ie less than 5 HP, I would guess that you could gain the 2 or 3 Hp just adjusting the pump and the power of the lower HP engine is likely higher than rated. It is unlikely that they would build different pumps to make a couple of Hp so the engines are likely identical except for the tuning.

i have a 05 b7510 turf special bought brand new started noticeing hydrostatic making a strange noise was told it was normal at about 6 mo. old has progessivley gotten louder and started to notice hydraulics getting jerky and p.s would basicly stop working lost topend speed in high range now the pump sounds like a car horn if you have speed pedal down half pedal seem worse when using bush hog have had it back to dealer fourth time as i type this once found a return line with pen hole thought we had it wrong! its like the pump is weak but dealer check pressure was within specs ?? ihave service as recommended in manual used all kubota filter and th superudt fluid sorry for such alongstory but have been searching for simalir complaint some close really getting disappointed in new kubota wishing had old grey market back just thought i would upgrade lucky me to get the bad one any info would help thanks steve1

Kwolf, check my pictures, there is one using a box blade to cut a new driveway. This can be slow work unless you have additional weight and lug tires. Box blades are good for light grading, spreading dirt, gravel, etc but they do not take the place of a bulldozer. My box is a 48" made by Atlas.

A couple of weeks ago I used the box blade to level and workup the soil prior to planting grass seed, it did a nice job.

This may be no comparison but FWIW here goes: 5 years ago, I bought a used Craftsman 18.5 hp (Twin cylinder Kohler Magnum engine) with a 46" deck at auction for $510. Some minor repairs were needed. I have no idea about the age of the model. Right now the engine is great but the body of the mower is falling down around it - admittedly it gets abused and does much more work than it was intended to do.

Do you have oversize tires on the truck? I had a Blazer that I put slightly oversize tires on it and they always tripped the anti-lock.

If it is bumpy (washboard gravel road) and they trip, maybe you're going too fast!

monte; That deal sounds a bit scary to me. The paint, hoses and belts are easy fixes, I'd be suspicious of a cover up job on a bad tractor. Two wheel drive with a FEL will leave you real dissapointed. You don't have to go new but I think spending a bit more at a dealer for a used 4X4 with a bit of machine history or possibly some warranty in a popular brand, Green, Orange, or Blue would be a better choice. My good friend is a conpiracy junkie. About 10 years ago he told me that the government is listening to our calls and when I speak to him never use the words like ATF--as in transmission fluid or the "other" definition as that would trigger surveilance. I thought he was crazy---but when the hijacked plane over Penn. (of 9-11) was about to crash and it could not be found on radar, I heard only once on TV in an interview by a gov. official that "we could hear a lot of chatter but there was so much of to listen to we didn't have time to figure out where it was coming from" then then the plane crashed. It was never discussed after that---so for me that was evidence that they have been listening. My perpsective is if you're not guilty then you shouldn't have to worry who listens. They can listen so long as it's going to protect me and my loved ones. The pill may not be easy to swallow but you have to.

i looked at a john deere 5102 i think, at the hunt county fair. i had already bought a mahindra 00 series and when the salesman talked to me he told me these john deere's are made 100 miles from the mahindra plant in india.
