like other tractor companies different models are made in different places, i think the compacts are korean, some others are long tractors and some are ford down to the last nut and bolt and i think they are made in india witch is not a bad thing, the best mahindras are made in india and some john deere's are made 100 miles from the mahindra's in india. the 545 is a ford 3910.

The max for that tractor is 1300 lbs on the three point hitch at twenty four inches back. That means you need to stay below that in weight but you should stay at 60" width.

Ann, you do bring up a good point. However, the kitchen floor was worth it since I did the labor. The old linoleum had it's printed surface coming off. So that would have detracted significantly.

Part of the problem is I am getting hit with the fallout of the Maytag closure. Even though I am 15 miles from Newton, the depressed housing prices are starting to take effect out here.

It is what it is. I need to take solace in the work I have done should help it sell quickly since a new owner can move in and not relaly have to do a darn thing if they don't want too.

You have a point. I had a '99 Silverado where the transmission went bad ~ 2,500 miles. The dealer put a new onein under warranty. After 2 years, GM had the 0% interest and I bought a '02. No serious problems after 110k, just regular maintenance items. Someone told me - buy a Chevy to tow; and a Ford to plow.

Based on what I've seen, it's rarely the valve.

The seals in the cylinder usually let go long before the valve, based on absolute pressure failure points. The cylinder seals are just simply the weak link in the system.

If there is a hydraulics shop near you, or even a good-sized Ag. dealer, just take the two cylinders off and take then to be resealed, it's not much money.

If you're adventurous, it's only about $5 worth of O-rings and about an hour a cylinder (for a rookie, 10 minutes for a pro) to do it yourself. No tools more than a vice, a couple of wrenches and a set of feeler gauges are required.

Thanks for the reply Murf. I figured as long as I'm just feeding the main utility box with this it would be OK, you confirmed my thoughts. For added precaution, Since this is a PTO generator I will also have a seperate ground rod that attaches to the Generator frame outside next to the generator, so that any residual energy that would possiblly travel thru the neutral jumped to the ground would have a path directly to the Physical ground via the generator case being physically grounded. If I do that, I can't imagine why I should have any problems.

Iowafun, when you have a tractor that the manufacturers terms are coming to an end you'd better believe that the dealer would rather sell it for less margin then to have to pay interest on it or to settle for it when a potential buyer is standing in front of him. The cost of floor planning is not cheap and to add the cost to the tractor with the first payment of interest just made that unit more expensive then a brand new one out of the factory! In all areas of the market place including cars and four wheelers and snowmobiles everyone wants market share and they do push for more sales every year. They want more of their equipment in the yards becuase some only look at sold to dealers not at sold to customers to find their spot in the industry leaving the burdon on the dealer to move the equipment.

I don't talk on the phone, or communicate with anyone that would upset me if the government listens. I would prefer the government listen to conservations between individuals associated with militant orginzations than not and let innocent people suffer. It is tough trying to schedule an exclusive interview with a known terrorist with the government listening. I have always beleived if we did not do things that we do not want known the world would be a better place to live.

I'd save the tractor and rent a skid steer on steel or rubber tracks. I have dug numerous lob lolly pines with 4-6' tap roots and two feet across, Live oaks and water oaks, red oaks, all of which have either deep or wide roots using just a skid steer with pallet forks---I can dig a Red oak stump that's 24" caliper in about 10-20 minutes that way. Other trees literally pop out with forks--you'd be amazed what they will do. Set them about 8" apart and stab-cut the roots or slide the forks fully under the stump or full tree and simultaneusly lift, drive forward and tilt the forks---traction is key. If that doesn't work the first time, back up a few feet (which will double the leverage), and repeat. The grapple bucket (which I also use) is okay but takes more effort. I have pulled up to 5" lob lollys out but the tree has to bend over too in order to use the grapple.

Another way is to use a regular dirt bucket on again the same big tracked bobcat and tilt the bucket down slightly, drive into the tree about 5-6' up and use traction and lift to push the tree over. I have pushed some very big trees over this way.

i dont know about the 3525, but with the 4500 2wd you dont need anything on the back to do loader work not even in compact clay. i have run into a couple situations where 4wd would be handy but the work i was trying to do should have been done by a doser. if your like me and dont have the extra money for 4wd, 95% of the time you wont need it and if you get stuck the loader will get you out. 4wd is better but if you dont have the money dont be afraid to buy a 2wd mahindra, they are great with fel.

oh heck no, i didnt take it like that at all, and belive me if i see mahindra pulling this i will point it out the minit i see it. ill tell you this though, the other day i was trying to dig out some shallow area in my drought stricken pond, its a real tricky area thats narrow and turns, anyway the lighter smaller 4wd MX5000 would have come in real handy because i couldnt do it with this machine with fel, could only use box blade.

Isn't it amazing how some companies ship parts? Well, I've seen what some companies use for shipping people. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Especially if they are union personnel. What do they care if it arrives damaged? They can't be fired per union rules.

In 1988 I purchased a "Ford" lawn tractor, I believe it was a LY series, 16HP, twin cylinder Briggs engine, hydrostatic drive, with a 48" mower deck. It listed for $2995, but as it was end of the season in October I got it for $1995.

I sold the tractor in June 2004 for $350. The tractor mowed 2 acres weekly during the season and occasionally a neighbors yard or two.

Other than routine maintenance I only experienced minor problems that I was able to repair.

I bet today's Lowes/Home depot lawn tractors wouldn't have lasted 16 years.

There isn't anything that I know of on line but a dealer could get you the manual. To split a tractor such as that model is pretty basic as far as tractors go. You do need a good hard level floor and several good axle stands to support each half when split. It is a good time to make sure that all the clutch linkages involved are free and easy to move but not loose.
