As far as digging stumps I do it other ways, like with using a 14,000lb. excavator (pushes them over no problem)---you might find one for $45-150 an hour. A 10,000lb. will have a bit harder time but can still dig them out at about $45-85 an hour. You can rent a smaller 3,500lb. to 7,000lb. unit for about $250 a day and dig them out. Home Depot rents them. I also use a big bobcat with tracks and a pallet fork attachment. I can dig a 24" Loblolly pine with a 5-6' tap root in about 20-30 minutes. An 18" Live oak takes about 5 minutes and a Water Oak about 15. You can rent bobcats too, but you'll need a 12,000gvw trailer and a 3/4 ton-and-up truck to to tow it. I've dug out whole trees root and all that my machine could not pickup (over 6,000lb. total).

Man we keeping score, if I said it twice it must be true. There was a fellow supervisor at work that told the General forman that he was the smartest person he knew. One minute later when the Nuclear director walked in the told him the same thing, 30 seconds later when the Division head walked in he received the same title. The General Foreman told the Division head to live it up because the Base Comander may walk in at any time. But I still love you.

The only two disasters that have hit Michigan recently is losing to Ohio State last year, and the Automobile industry. We are all suffering the same from both, and niether would be an excuse for trying to take advantage of a customer.

I didn't have an Ohio State tee shirt on at the time.

I recently purchased an old New Holland 450 sickle bar mower to use with my TC29. The tractor carries the mower well and the mower works well on my ditch banks. It was in pretty poor condition when I paid $75.00 for it. A trip to my NH dealer and $125 in parts later. I have a great addition to the farm.
It still needs paint, but it works well and is much smoother than I expected. My neighbor came over and showed me how to change blades.
Its a snap with a 4" grinder and a ball peen hammer and punch.Remove the blade bar from the mower, Grind off the heads of the rivets on the blade side and punch them out. Put the new blade in place and put in the new rivets from the bar side, place the head of the rivet on whatever you are using for an anvil.We used a sledge hammer head for the anvil in the field. Then using the flat side of the ball peen, begin to drive the rivet like a nail. It will swell to fill the hole in the bar and tighten up. Then use the ball side to peen the rivet until it flattens. Check the blade to make sure it is tight and then repeat the process as needed. We pulled the blade bar and replaced 2 blades in about 10 minutes.

Got myself like new quick attach adjustable forks for $700 no tax through the want-ad-digest. JD Dealer told me they could get me a set for about $1000. Seller told me he bought these for his JD 2520, used them about 4 times but 2520 couldn't lift that much with the forks. I am a happy camper today.

I'm not familiar with that model. If it is a lawn and garden tractor, the starter gear doesn't come in to engage. It needs some grease lubrication. Another possiblity is a poor battery connection. Suggest cleaning them at the battery terminals and also check at the little box next to the battery.

If it is a compact utility tractor, the addition of a solenoid relay has been discussed. If you look under previous discussions under Cub Cadet you should find it as well as under some of my posts. I have a diagram that was gotten from Larry Lutz and have scanned and e-mailed it to others.

I don't know about a Chebby gas-burner, but a buddy of mine swears by his.

On my Ford diesels, it was a dramatic difference, but that is mostly because it was a de-tuned big truck engine to start with, I just put it back to how it was originally designed to perform.

In my case I went with a 4" mandrel-bent stainless exhaust from the turbo back, and modified air intake system also.

All told I went from 245 ponies at the crank to about 350 at the rear wheels.

I also gained about 10% better fuel mileage doing so.

I think you will find it is 4.5" not 4 5/8" that's not a standard size.
