To a point you are correct. The engagement of four wheel drive as depicted on the tractor, is a lever, which is located on the inner right rear fender. However, to achieve what everyone is eluding to, there is also a lock pedal, left heel pedal, for lack of better words, that will lock up the differential giving you posi-traction in the rear, so that the tractor will act like a bulldozer (within reason of course), when the two controls are locked in - the left foot heel pedal, as well as the right hand lever that engages the drive of the front wheels.

Another item, not mentioned, is rear ballast. Are your rear tires/wheels loaded with ballast weight? I would suggest having them loaded if you are going to continue in the bulldozing mode, or at least sufficient counter weight attached to your 3pt hitch.
To give an example, if you have the tractor in forward motion, low range, and four wheel drive lever engaged, but having difficulty advancing whether it be because the object being pushed or pulled is to heavy, or just slipperyness, by engaging the left heel pedal during the process, you will immediately feel a sensation of pull - it has been recognized that dramatically.

I had a comparable size tractor -B1750- with loader and turf tires. However, I had the rears with ballast. My neighbor borrowed it to push some bamboo of all things. He managed to get it stuck on a bank heading straight down hill.
He meandered over rather sheepishly, and explained that he got my orange stuck. I told him - It does not get stuck!
He laughed, as he showed me the sight. I sat on the tractor, made sure the four wheel drive was engaged, lifted the bucket slightly, and depressed the diff. lock pedal, and proceeded to back up the bank and out.
He was not only shocked, I could not get him to shut up about it for the rest of the weekend. I then proceeded to finish the job FOR him.
I pushed over roots and all, a dozen 5 inch saplings, and all the debris around right down the hill and back. Never once even slipping on the clay pack.

Once you get to know the tractor, you will be amazed at what she will do.

I am rather surprised that you did not receive a manual for the orange. That is an absolute must, if not for operation, for safety. Make sure you acquire one, and read it thoroughly, it offers ALOT of insight to a beginner such as yourself. Better safe than sorry, and with the money tied up in the machinery, you don't need needless repairs.

I am well enough aware of how difficult it is to put a new product on the market and your uncle was hardly in a position to compete with established autoparts makers.

My comment had more to do with your contemptious comment about "big business". Big business exists to make money, pure and simple. Don't expect them to exhibit higher morals or altruistic attitudes. They bought out your uncle's invention because it suited their interest. Your uncle, may he rest in peace, didn't have to sell his invention.

What would you prefer, that we have no big business? that all businesses be small? Who makes just about anything you or I have of any commercial value? Some local mom and pop outfit? Big businesses aren't "good" or "bad" - they are money making operations, and, by the way, they pay a lot of people, including myself, decent wages. Very much unlike Big Labor or Big Government.

I did some homework, made some phone calls, and was quoted 3 other prices between $31 and $34. I called our own dealer and others.

As we were at the parts counter, a customer purchased the exact same filter (PN 6C060-99410) for $34. Checked it out on Tractorsmart also, same price.

Like I said, we've seen disperity before in pricing between dealers, but nothing like this. The filter was purchased and returned. It's during the return that I saw them sell the exact same filter to a customer for the right price. When I questioned why he sold it to us for 2 1/2 times as much, he said we didn't buy the machine from them.

If Kubota expects owners to be able to use their equipment commercially, they need to have a policy that allows you to get service parts at a reasonable price from any dealer. Who knows where you would be when a need arises.

This whole thing is a matter of principle. Still feel that twisting action coming from my rear end. Waiting to hear the snap..

That is a sign of poor blood flow that leads to amputitis. Nerve damage can also give similar discomfort that is permanent from a vitamin C deficiency. Are you legs or heels either cold feeling by touch or your body telling you that they feel hot? <br>

I'm not familiar with that model. If it is a lawn and garden tractor, the starter gear doesn't come in to engage. It needs some grease lubrication. Another possiblity is a poor battery connection. Suggest cleaning them at the battery terminals and also check at the little box next to the battery.

If it is a compact utility tractor, the addition of a solenoid relay has been discussed. If you look under previous discussions under Cub Cadet you should find it as well as under some of my posts. I have a diagram that was gotten from Larry Lutz and have scanned and e-mailed it to others.

I'm not familiar with that model designation. If it is a lawn and garden tractor, the electronic PTO clutch is out of adjustment. If the gap is too wide (from wear) it typically won't engage. I'm not sure but think the gap is .011". If you take off the grille and side panels you can see 3 bolts that tighten down the clutch. These need to be uniform in height.<br>

I have 782's, 1862 and 1864 models. I had a bad muffler on the 1864 and let it go for a while and it heated up the clutch until it fatiqued and broke.

try rocking the tractor with the clutch and then see if it will go in 4wd. Some time it needs to move to where it will go in 4wd.

I don't know about a Chebby gas-burner, but a buddy of mine swears by his.

On my Ford diesels, it was a dramatic difference, but that is mostly because it was a de-tuned big truck engine to start with, I just put it back to how it was originally designed to perform.

In my case I went with a 4" mandrel-bent stainless exhaust from the turbo back, and modified air intake system also.

All told I went from 245 ponies at the crank to about 350 at the rear wheels.

I also gained about 10% better fuel mileage doing so.

I think you will find it is 4.5" not 4 5/8" that's not a standard size.

Not saying a 2004 model is old. But that is long enough for corrosion to show up in an open connection. Open connections do happen at factories also. Just replaced the total wiring on a trailer (factory built) due to that and it is not 2 years old. The push in connections on the lights had corroded enough to act as insulation. The light would work and then not work. Based upon the fact your trailer is new, I would look there first.

Another way to test if you have the option is another trailer that you know is working to your pickup and another pickup to your trailer.

I was in Vancouver in late July for a few days and they were complaining about the record heat they were having that week, I thought it was kind of nice weather. It was just like 'normal' summer weather for Southern Ontario.<br>

On the other hand I flew to Northern Ontario yesterday with a friend to look at a plane he's thinking of buying, the airport at our destination said it was "sunny warm day" there, it was 58� when we stepped out of the plane a little before noon!!<br>

I was told this weekend, by my dealer, that there is an attachment you can put on the bucket mounts of the FEL that will allow you to attach almost any skid loader attachment. You might look into this as there would be a good variety of bucket sizes available.

I have used a "paint" from automotive paint supply store on my disk. It is designed to paint on rusted surface and give you a smooth surface. You can paint over it (may should be) but I just painted my disk black with it. It is a bear on brushes so if you use it, realize the brush is history as you can not remove it from the brush. It probably would work well on the sheet metal if and when it needs to be coated to prevent further rust.

I would have to stop by the paint store it get the name but will if you want me to.

Those are a syphon system for cooling and my first thoughts are that it hasn't bled out. But why does it need to other then a blown head gasket or something of that nature if the cap had to be replaced and why one with such high pressure?
