Check your lever(s) that activates the 4 wheel drive. There is a pin that connects the lever your grab to an L shaped lever that slides (engage/disengage) the 4 wheel drive gear on the front drive shaft. Make sure the pin is intact and the levers are in good shape. Tractorsmart.com is a good source for manuals. Good luck. Dave/

Reliable? They're all pretty much "reliable" as the gear boxes so I have heard are made by only a handful of mfg's. Durability is another thing. Most important is deck design, thickness and stiffness. More is better. Whacking anything 2" in diameter, or a big rock, or a stump really stresses not only the gear box but the deck itself--either hitting it with the blades themselves or with the deck itself. The other thing to look at is the quality of the caster wheel and its pivot/swivel. The lowest end models will not use bushings or bearings but metal-to-metal with a grease fitting. And the caster wheels the same.

I have indeed decided now to go with the 2520. One thing I am running into is that it is difficult to actually see one, and even more difficult to see the 62D MMM (drive-over). I have one on order now from a Houston dealer (who had a 2520 but no 62D). Looks like sometime in September before it is all there - apparently Deere is having trouble delivering 62D's to the dealers.

According to the JD dealer I am dealing with, yes - however I am told "you can not use the joy stick to control the loader while using this kit.

This is not applicable to the 2520 - the Web builder does indeed say that. The Web builder also says there will be a mid-mower latch-up kit for the 2520 in the fall of 2006.

This does not make this kit for the 2520 very attractive, IMHO. It would be nice if more detailed information is publicly available from Deere.

This sounds like a completely different situation from the 2520 since you say they added a valve.

all you need to do is connect to that red wire as your HOT and then connect a ground wire from anywhere on the tractor. That will give you what you need......(1) hot wire and (1) ground...... and connect them to your lights.

There isn't a sensor for the HST. It's only on the Japanese version I think. The location on the HST doesn't even exist. I had intended to put a parking brake warming light in that location on the dash, but got used to checking the brake before driving off, and don't need it anymore.

As to the parts stores on belts I agree with earthwrks. There are often companies that make aftermarket belts for such but they normally will give the machine number on their packaging or at least the ones I have seen do. Sometimes an industrial equipment company will carry a better or heavier line of belts.

As to Art's comments on brands he knows much more than I ever will but appreciate his comments on RPMs and such very much. I had the lower RPM advantage argued by a Massey Fan to the higher RPMs on my orange tractors. But I see more and more oranges and less of those red ones, even in the fields. My borther has a Massey with about 8 or 10 hp more than my Kubota M 6800. My Kubota will pull as much and out handle the Massey and it sure is more comfortable in operation.

I can't speak to the price but for the difference it would be far better to go for the dealer with the best service department and reputation. Did you get better vibes from one dealer than the other? When you buy a tractor you marry the dealer (sort of).

If memory serves, you would have the pantograph linkage on that deck, with a height adjuster arm (or more like a stick)to change the anti scalp level....believe it would be a RC60-72 mower for a 60 inch deck - *60* for the deck width, and *x2* (in this case the 72) stipulating the 7200 series

Kubotadave, I have an RTV and am very happy with it. I looked at all models out there and found the RTV to meet my needs for toughness and dependability. It is not an ATV, but I didn't buy it for that. We use it every day on the farm and it handles everything we throw at it. Best wishes. Dave/

Sure, I get your point, but the NH is 18/22/25, the Massey 22.5, and the Kab 18/23. They are all subcompacts and from the pricing I have been getting, the simplicity looks like too much for too little.

Don't forget about the snow blowing too. I get lake effect.

I apreciate you analogy though, it's like starting the tractor, just to shut it off :)
