Thanks for the info.
Yesterday I purchased the machine for $10K cdn. mI think it is a good deal as it really has very little use on the hoe and loader. They were installed in 2000 and the guy has just worked in his garden with it. There is still paint on the inside of the hoe bucket.

With 1.5 acres stay with a sub-CUT tactor (max 25HP) for your size of acrerage, it will meet all of your requirements without being too much tractor. Nothing looks worse than a guy/gal on a postage stamp lot with a 5 min. mow and a 400 HP combine!

you have raised some very good points, but me not being intimate with these tractors for years cannot make determinations based on this to steer a purchase.

Sooo...Have you any thoughts one which machine you feel is engineered approriately for the jobs that I mention? I don't need bells and whistles, just a tractor that performs the tasks with ease...

Ok, I just get a little cheap once in a while about filters and stuff. I guess it doesn't matter much after the long run. And thanks about mentioning the screen in the hose line. I didn't know it was there. I'm new to compact tractors but with the cost it pays to maintain, even over maintain doesn't hurt I guess. I payed more for my 60" mmm than most people pay for a whole lawnmower. So far the 7510 has been more than what I expected.

the dealer that you bought the tractor from also currently has a synthetic engine oil available.

Many of the trailers will actually have the base frame for the hydraulic cylinder built in. Depending on the location of the cylinder location will dictate the diameter needed to lift the load. Northern hydraulics do have good hoses that are of good quality for your application. If the kit does include a hand pump unit then just order the cylinder and get the hoses to go to your tractor with iso ends to connect.

I did some experimenting and discovered if you go to the JD website and click on "Build Your 3520" it does indeed show the prices. If you click on "Build Your Own" it doesn't show all prices and allows you to request a quote. So whether or not you see prices seems to depend on which path you take.

Scottrh, to play around with prices you can use the JD web site to get MSRP and figure a minimum 10% off for a reasonable deal.

OK, everyone, thanks for the cautions. Some of this sounds like what happens on Craig's List also. So, to conclude, I am off to actually see a 2520 someplace, as this is the one now very interesting to me. And, look for a note in the Kubota forum about my BX2200 going up for sale (it really is agreat machine, just wanting a machine a bit bigger and want to try a JD.....) Scott

As short as 2 years ago my company still had our SS numbers on our checks. Along with that, was, our bank account numbers etc! After many months of bitching my head off. LIKE, " HEY< ! if I am not at work and you mail my check like you always do, what IF IT GETS HIJACKED? Some one not only has my check but they habe my bank and number and SS number!
LOL No more infor but the last 4 digits are on it now!

I've decided to go for the Farm Tuff dump trailer from Northern. I figure after shipping and adding the hydraulics it will be about $1k total. The price is right, the size is right and it shouldn't be too hard to add the hydraulics. I've got some hydraulics questions but will start another thread for those.

I replaced the fuel filter on mine, it was so tight I had to remove the mounting bracket and put it in a vise to get it loose. Reinstalled it and the tractor would not crank. I thought I was going have to use your method. But first i filled the filter up with fuel reconnected everything and it fired right up.

Maybe there is a way to keep up with the successess that we have on TP. When we help someone, solve a problem, come up with a method. Like a score board.

Not that foreign and old american iron are the same but IMO, if the lift arms are part of the top plate, then most likely the hydraulic cylinder is cast into the top plate, which should just lift off. The reason for lack of prssure may be due to an o-ring(s) gone bad on the piston inside the cast cylinder. Old Fordsons use to have a wear condition where the piston rod that connects the piston to the lift arms puts a hole in the piston.
