I normally look at the accounting. The TC33 was about 17.5K new here. The FEL is 3.5K, the mower is 1.5K and the snow blower is about 2K. So new you would be about 24.5K on the low end.
How many hours are on it?
What is the waranty and dealer worth to you?
Is the 30% discount worth it?

Could you elaborate on the electrical problems?

I ask because I found a 2004 DX 33 Case about 2.5 hours from me with a 72in rear discharge MMM, snow blower and L 114 loader with 39 hours for 18,900. Another member here said the 33 series has been known to have some electrical problems like you mentioned but that he would'nt let that prevent him from purchacing the tractor. Just wondering if you encountered enough problems with your tractor that would make you worried about buying this type tractor without a warranty.

You would be surprised how different noises are relayed thru the unit, to sound TOTALLY different than its origination. Case in point, take a look at the rear wheel hubs. They will have a thru pin approx. 3/8" dia. that positions the hub on the hex axle. Then there will be a hex headed bolt and nut assembly that clamps down thru the hub onto the axle, to solidify the hub to the axle. Over time this bolt and nut jamm assembly will loosen slightly. When it does and you drive in either direction, one could swear that your driving over a glass bottle and it is shattering.
(Metal on metal, but under load at low speed.)

The tube should be able to be seen originating from the top of the engine. It will be connected to what appears to be a small square block (about 1.5" sq. +/-), and then the tube travels reasonably straight downwards as a breather mechanism. The tube itself originally was a rubber tube/hose, about .5" O.D.. Keep in mind, this unit is several years old now - it may have been changed along the way.

The assembly on the forward side of the HST, is what is known as a "drop box". This is a gear box that allows a belly mower to be driven off the tranny, at a higher speed than the output gear set of the tranny. The mower driveshaft would quick couple to it. Unless the PTO was engaged, I believe this would be inactive, thereby NOT causing any noise, as it would not be turning.

Check the fill cap for a center breathing hole. This hole may be somewhat plugged causing your whistle. As you speed up, the flow of fluid increases thru the tranny, and consequently, the whistle will pick up in intensity the faster you go.
You could also check the cap underside. It should have an o-ring for a seal. If this is broken or missing, the pressure built up in the tranny housing could be releasing thru this void, and because it is below the seat line, could be making it appear that it is under the tractor.
However, I am not sure why it would intensify under two wheel drive conditions vs. four wheel. Typically, the more load or strain on a system, such as engaging the 4wd in this case, would have a more negative effect. (HMMMM, gotta think on that one)

The seal is located on the backside of the pump. It is really not a big job, merely a messy one that invovles a certain amount of finesse, as one needs to pull the pump and change the seals without damaging the new ones upon installation.

Question - Does this unit have a loader on it?

Well most of the Sentra's of that era were a collection parts barely rolling in formation but it was the era of the lean burn experiments. Like Ken said they ran well for a time until they burned a hole through the piston. As he wrecked it who knows. They were also experimenting with ceramic pistons to over come this but it is still just a dream.
In the mid 80's a company in Australia had a fuel injection system that used air and fuel like a paint gun to inject fuel into the cylinders. In theory this provided greater atomization of the air. I noticed the other day a car manufacturer talking about the same concept in a new car.

I have done some extensive research on importing a tractor from China. Several people who had imported a single tractor contacted me and every one had done it successfully and all reported saving "some" to "a lot" of money.<br>
Most dealers will tell you horror stories of the risks of self importing. It is not in their interest for potential customers to self-import so they understandably want to discourage this line of talk.<br>
I will say that it is indeed possible to save the mentioned $1000 figure on a 25 hp Jinma over the price offered by a crate tractor sold by one of the drop shipping dealers. You can save more if you can live with the Chinese loader and need a spare set of turf tires ordered along with the tractor...enough to make these items almost "free". With a 35 hp purchased w/same accessories the savings are more substantial. Still, the real way to import is to do it by container load as mentioned in thread above as the expenses to transport and clear is reduced by almost half for each unit. <br>

I was told that the 25 hp Kohler motors did not have enough oil flow passage to the upper end of the motor. A neighbor bought a new Sears lawn tractor last year and went through two motors for the season.

After further review, I went a head with a Cub Cadet GT 1500 series with a 27 hp Kohler.

I have just under 4 acres of land that now has new grass coming up for the first time.

Took me 2.5 hours to mow. Was surprise on how smooth it ran over the old corn field.

Any advice on how to maintain it is greatly appreciated.

Having no s/n to go by, let's assume that it is a "mid 80's " unit and call it a 1985 (?).

Based on the info given, if it is a 4wd unit, best guesstimate would be between $3500-$4000 range, and one could add about $250-$750 for the mower depending on condition.
If it is only a 2wd unit, then it would be valued at a bit less again.
That is what I come up with, but, as mentioned earlier, many variables play into the REAL value of it. Do not expect this as a trade in value towards a new unit - you'll never see it.

Scams have been going on since man has been walking on this earth. New technology/old technology; silver coins/yellow metal; good ole American Green Banks/Counterfeit money.

Even commodities have been scammed. Remember when the Hunt brothers darned near cornered the silver commodity market? Remember when JR Simplot the Potato King from Idaho darned near cornered the Spud commodity market? Remember the infamous Tulip scam of the 1500's? They actually traded tulip bulbs as currency until guess what? That too collapsed. See link and read thru down thru it.

I'm a banker (please don't hold that against me) and yesterday I saw 10 new $100 bills that I guarantee if I bought your tractor with them, you would have taken them. They were complete with the embedded hologram....talk about scary. Some poor local store owner took a $1,000 loss when we determined they were darned good counterfeits. Only our sophisticated machine could determine they were fake. I've seen a lot of counterfeit bills in my days and most are easy to spot. These were by far the best I've seen.....and after we just changed all of our currency so it was supposed to be harder to counterfeit. So much for that idea. Now what do we do?

So....scams are as common as your next door neighbor....and it's a good possibility that he's one too. What can one do? Know who you are doing business with and even then be careful. Even if you take silver coins, good ole American cash, you still have no guarantees.

We can't go back and even if we did, it wasn't any better then than now....

Generally, OEM's don't like giving oiut who makes their parts for several reasons---one being lawsuits in cases just like this when someone wants to modify an existing part. If it didn't come with a fold down rollbar, you'll likley pay through the nose for one that does as the folding or non folding have to meet rigorous and stringent roll-over standards, plus the cost of liablility insurance is passed on to you (which could be several hundred per rollbar). You are ill-advised to make it fold down yourself by cutting/welding and it's done all the time. But you compromise structural integrity which means your safety. If that doesn't faze you---cut and weld on, brotha'!

I have a 60" mowing deck on my Kubota BX-23 and wish to purchase a lawn sweeper to match. Trouble is, I haven't found a sweeper larger than 46" (Agri-Fab). I suppose I could overlap during cutting, but that kinda defeats the purpose of a 60" deck.<br>
