Maybe the alternative is a MAC. Apple announced today they're releasing some software that will allow their PC's to run windows XP. (Personally, I'll pass on that experiment.)

I deleted the oversize word from Wingwipers post and the symptoms of the problem are solved. Funny with my version of IE 6.0.29 the page rendered properly with the long word wrapped.<br>

They are great little tractors. We will have to wait and see if the models that replaced the 41xx's are as good.

I have ripped through tree root thicker than my arm with the 46 hoe.... no problemo. I don't have a tiller, but I am not surprised that you are pleased with the power output.

Thanks DRankin. I'll call the dealer later today and see if they can't send me some, seeing as how they didn't give them back to me. In the meantime, I have some bronze bushings that will do.

earthwrks, winwiper - thanks, but the 3PH was rubbing against my rear tires, so I definately need to cut down on the play.

4 wheel drive and turf tires on B7800 were just fine for loader work in VERY wet spots on my property. I've noticed that turf tires will save you from getting into too much trouble as far as ripping up your property or digging in and getting stuck in wet areas.

Are you planning on pulling those trees out of the creek? I'm not positive tractors that you mentioned would be heavy enough for that kind of a job.

My 18 got 14 mpg, but it was not fuel injected and was a 1 ton, long box, supercab. A friend had a small box van that was a little newer 85? with a similar set up, he was more like 19-20 mpg.

Here's another alternative: Two years ago I bought a big Case ride-on chain-type trencher with a backhoe (Model DH5). It wasn't running when I bought it and I figured (ok, hoped) that IF the trencher and backhoe didn't work I could remove them and make a big, 4x4, articulating ATV out of it. The "truck" portion of it has 31x15 Ag tires, stands 6' wide and about 8' long---"naked" weighs probably 4000lb. Sadly, when I got it home it ran like a champ and was "forced" into service. (But it's for sale now and maybe someone can make my dream a reality!). Another cool idea is the trencher with the digging chain boom removed could be turned into a hydraulic winch to be used as a log skidder or to pull yourself out. And since it's steered and controlled by a single joystick you could turn the seat around and drive it "backward" with the engine and winch behind you.

Me thinks If you only left the key on and the top of the coil melted you have bigger problems than just a melted coil.

Start tracing all of your wiring. The Ing switch is probably also fried. The points and condenser if equipped are probably burned. If its electronics you already know the answer.

Check a service manual for the sechmatics and start tracing from the battery.

you can make the top rounded, pointed or whatever. At most hardware stores you can get the color to add to the concrete and then touch it up with spray paint. I have used a brush to add dark areas and stains. When it weathers it looks great. Leave some holes in the boulder and you can add small plants depends on the size of the hole. The flat bottom makes it look like it is just the end of the rock sticking out of the ground. Down here real boulders are around $300 starting out. Concrete is $2.50 a bag. I try not to make projects a mission any more I leave that to the wife.

John Deere is offering 0% for 3yrs. Doing the math, that's a better deal than buying a slightly used machine. I'm waiting for the dealer to get back to me on a price, the salesman on Saturday, when I test drove it was useless. I agree, it seemed like a very competent machine. Good luck with yours.

I run a 60" KK tiller on a JD 4310 with no issues. It leaves a beautiful seed bed behind it. After the first time I used it, I nearly bashed my head against the side of the barn thinking about how much work and effort I used to spend using a walk-behind tiller. It's a "why didn't I do this sooner?" experience.

I run mine in harder soil that contains lots of clay. It does fine.

I know alot of the guys here like the bigger tractors but it seems like the TC24 might be big enough for me. I also like the fact that they are offering 60 month 0% financing. I will be using the tractor for some front loader work (moving rocks, pushing small stumps, etc) mowing fields, and doing some tilling for a garden. Here is the price I was given<br>
This is for a 2006 TC24DA tractor, with the 60" belly mower, the 12LA loader w/ 54" bucket, R4 industrial tires, and rear wheel weights (4 of them). After all of the rebates and discounts it was $18,400.<br>
We were also looking at 2000 TC33. It had 500 hrs on it and they were asking $14,500 for it. It had a FEL on it. So I would have to buy a mid mount mower for it at $2300. I also found out the old 7380 loader only had a weight rating of 900 lbs (the 12LA is 750). I also would have to do financing of 6.75% for 5 years.<br>
It seemed to me that the TC24 was the better way to go. I know everyone says that this is a good dealership, so that is important, too. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of the price and the type of work I will be doing. If you think another tractor would be better, brand or model wise, please say so. <br>

I have a 1997 Toyota Tacoma xtra cab vr5 V6. It is an automatic and seems to get around 17-18 miles per gallon. It seems to be happiest just cruising along on country roads. On the highway at about 65-70 it will get about 19mpg. I have never gotten over 20 with the truck. A standard will supposedly get around 22mpg. Hope this helps.
