RR, no you don't need one, as Kenneth explained, it allows the PTO to keep turning without the trans. having to keep spinning too. On older tractors, if the PTO shaft was still turning you couldn't shift between forwards & reverse till it stopped because the PTO was still spinning the gears.

Your tractor has a 2 stage clutch, that is you can stop the tractor, and or reverse travel direction independantly of the PTO shaft.

In your case, with a HST, there is even less need for it since other than to start or stop the PTO, you don;t need to use the clutch at all.

The type of grass normally used in my part of the world for summer lawns requires being kept damp for about two weeks for it to sprout. Now rye grass for winter is different issue.

Jason, this brings up a question, how long do you have to keep the grass you are using wet/damp? Also, there is some kind of treatment they now use here where the seed is encapsuled that holds enough moisture for the seeds to sprout.

All you need is one of my tennants at the rental house and my 17 HP Cub Cadet lawn mower. They managed to cut the guy wire off clean at the ground level where the cable wraps around the loop. After a few days or a week the metal shield disappears then after a few more days, the cable itself disappears and the problem is solved. You don't know that it happened or even when and never noticed it.

Here's another reason to keep 1/4 tank or more in your vehicle. And I'm assuming diesels have the pump in the tank like gas vehicles. I've been told that fuel in the tank helps to keep the fuel pump cooled as it's constantly maintaining pressure in the system. Running your vehicle near empty means the fuel pump is out of it's cooling bath and thus wears out faster. If you've ever changed a modern fuel pump they are really pricey, without even including the labor.

Just a couple added comments:

With the cutting edge pointed striaght down, you will be limited in how much compaction you can get before you bottom out on the arms.

Be careful of the "clamp on" forks if you have a lightweight or non-reinforced bucket. Those clamp on forks put a nasty reaction on the cutting edge of the bucket. The reaction imposed at the cutting edge is the load multiplied by the difference in the center of gravity of the load and the distance to the back pad of the forks. In some cases, that can be as much as three times the load you are picking. My neighbor has an ugly belly in his cutting edge. Check out the forks carefully.

We use a 72" blade at times. No porblem for a rear angling blade. For a box blade, I would stick to a 60". It's wide enough to do what you need, but won't be too much to pull.

you guys got me interested in these yanmar tractors.<br>
iam going this afternoon to pick up my first one.<br>
its a 1610d with a new loader and finish mower and<br>
boxblade. payed $6200. i looked at it last friday and<br>
test drove it. it has a strnge way of shutting the engine<br>
down, by quickly moving the throttle to idle. turning the<br>
switch to off doesn't shut motor down. what is the correct<br>
way to do this? thanks.

Congrats on your purchase, I purchased a 3120 last fall. For what it's worth, mine only came with loadmatch, a feature I leave on all the time. I'm sure you will like your 3320. I've been real satisfied with mine.

Do not even think about the rear mount, ita pain in the butt to use. I have one (woods 84") and was planning to mount it on the from and driving it with a hydr. motor. Better still< at leat for me was the Kubota 900 with a closed cab, heater, and power angled blade. Here in mid Maryland it seems to work well. I guess some day I will convert the snow blower to work on the front but not sure if I will ever need it.

I have a ford 1900 with the 7 series hoe. I was told to get a frame or risk the rear case bolts breaking. Woods did not make the frame for mine any longer and I modified it to work on my tractor. The frame works well , it transmit part of the weight and load to an upward push on the front end of the tractor. My bolts on the top link are much larger than the bolts on the case. The bolts on the case are torqued a lot higher than the ones on the lift in order to maximize their holding power and would guess the shock of moving the hoe ie... legs up really puts the hurt on a straight 3-pt arrangement.

Please help me. I need to find out any thing I can about the Hercules Equip Corp. Who bought them? where are they? the ph # has been disc. I have a Herculese 2254 Ser #.N.orM.2254fc030148 4x4 3cyl -w- a loader that was donated to my church. I need to find out who made this for them and manuels- parts-anything I can go on. I'd say the 2630 would be the best with a five foot bush-hog mower although the others would work a five foot finish mower with no problem.
