I am looking for a tractor the size of an 8N Ford. I spoke to a man who has a Satoh S-650G for sale. He wants $2500 for it. It is a 74 model and is 25 HP. It has new tires and he says it runs great. He is the original owner. Is $2500 too much for this tractor. It has about 700 hours on it he said.

Try spraying a little WD40 in the air intake while cranking. It's a lot safer than starting fluid and these little diesels usually crank right up on the light oil of WD40.

I was looking for a electric question I had and came acrossed this topic heading. I had the same problem (thanks for the answers) I had cleaned my saw up also, and then I used it, cleaning it with laquer thinner before using it. I then sprayed it down with a rust prehibitor. What a mistake! A few weeks later, I had anouther project! Guess what I was doing again? CLEANING it again. The residue from the rust prehibitor was unreal and a pain in the -- - to get completely off as so NOT to stain the wood. This time I did not put as much on it. Guess what I need to do this coming week? LOL. I will be looking into your answers asap for the next storage solution.

My old neighbor built a home a year after we moved away. 4 years later he was still in court with his GC and about 6 buisnesses the GC had hired to do the jobs. My old neighbor had PAID his GC the final payment BEFORE he got a list of ALL the subs and such. (BTW) The neighbor is a assitant district attorny for the town of 98K that I used to live in) He said he is losing his ass, He will be sueing the GC BUT HE (my old neighbor)is responsible for paying the bills. He had his old GC in court for 2 years and wound up getting nothing! The guy had nothing left to take?
I got a call from a distibuter of septic tanks. He told me that the bill for MY tank was not paid by my plumber friend who installed my septic/holding tank. It was a 1200 dollar bill. I told him that I am sure my plumber would pay even though he was 3 months late! I proceeded to call my buddy and ask WHAT IS UP? He was as emabarresed as could be for not paying the bill. He sent out payment the next week. I followed up to make sure. This is where I could of been stuck with a BILL like yours. The person who sold the tanl to my friend informed me that IF he did not get paid in 2 weeks he would file a lein on MY house. Guess what? He would of been able to do it and I am the only person responsible for that payment.
I can go after my plumber for recovery of money I already spent (gave to him) BUT the retailer of the tank does not have to worry about that because I am the BUYER of his equipment and the plumber is only representing me.

This is why (one of the reasons) we have several draws on a project. The final payment should NEVER be made till you have all the bills and reciepts for ALL the things in your place. If you see something that is not on a bill marked PAID do not pay the final payment till its cleared up.
I agree whole heartedly, being on the job site everyday is paramont.

My plumber buddy? Yes he is still a friend. BUT, I find out later that he has a habit of robbing Peter to pay Paul and is late (extremely) late on many of his bills. SO late that I fear sooner or later he will end up down on his luck and end up running with alot of unpaid bills. Needless to say I will stay friends with him BUT I will not hire him to do anymore plumbing/septic tank work for me especially when I have my new house built.

My heart goes out to you. Sorry to hear your misfortune, I am sitting here and have a sick stomach just reading this, I can only imagine what you are feeling.
You are doing the right thing by asking as many folks as you can, it may be hard to talk about this (the man thing ya know) but fixing it right is your main goal. My limited experiance would tell me to bite the bullet and rip out one side or the other. The drywall out and the fibeglass out and have a reputable contractor come and fix it right with a known process. Maybe (soon) get estimates on your WATER damage, not condensation and hopefully insurance will pay. Who they get their money back from is not your concern after that (thats just a guess). I would think water damage would be covered?

That's a good point. The good thing about a pto splitter is you don't have to worry about another engine to maintain and you can lower it all the way to the ground.

1. ensure no groundwater runs below your polebarn structure by addressing grading outside the structure;
2. add a few drains - say bed ~ 4' below grade and day-light outside structure;
3. add poly membrane below slab to prevent vapor migration (if you intend to enclose & heat in the future);
3a. provide crushed stone for concrete water a place to go.
4. rent heavy "walk-behind" roller - don't go crazy on the vibratory on the subgrade- especially if you have a saturated silty clay / sand soil.
5. ask your concrete supplier about fiber-reinforcement vs. steel mesh - be advised it ain't easy to remove though;
5a. ideal temp is 50 deg & rainy weather -ifff subgrade is compact and firm;
6. try Journal of Light Construction - jlconline.com ? for addt'l input.

Had a bx1500 with 165 hrs. on it when I traded it in for a bx23, because I needed a backhoe. Had absolutley zero problems with this machine. The loader will impress you with what it can do and the 54" deck will cut through the toughest grass with ease.It sips on fuel and can take any 3 point attachment you throw at it with no problems.I still miss it sometimes.

I don't disagree with Murf but subsoiler will leave less distrubance than middle buster or should. I have a friend that says he has put down a lot of water lines just connecting them to subsoiler and letting it pull them into the trench it is making. Said it works very well. I have used subsoiler for water and electric lines and been able to take something without sharp edge and push the line down very well. If you do this with electricty be sure it is deep enough for code there.

Murf, how does a Canadian know about rice farming? I know little and I live on the edge of the old rice growing area of the Colonies. Those old rice fields are flooded even now. Suppose to be some of the best fishing and duck hunting there is. Guess ducks and fish really have good taste.

Sonny, I live on and work 20 acres. Own a 15 year old JD322 with blower, tiller, leaf vac and belly mower and had has just over 500hrs, and a 2 year old in May with over 400 hours BX23 with a 60" belly mower. I looked and compaired and price was a biggie for me. This little BX has performed better then I had ever expected and has saved me $ and physical problems like with my back. What I needed was a unit that would help me in the woods, groom the yard keep the stone drive level, clean up the ditch, dig drainage ditches, dig up stumps a (few that were 16 to 20" rnd) & move snow. Not saying that JD would not do the same it was just that this was the size and $ unit for me. Review everything that you will want to do in the short and long term and then get the unit that will give you the most bang for buck. I really bothered me last year when the tractors just sit in the barn doing nothing. This sight also was very helpfull to me on deciding the unit to buy. Good luck

I have a NH TC 30 with loader. There is a used 756C backhoe coming up at an auction. My question. How easy/hard are they to put on and remove. The backhoe has a subframe with it and came off a TC 30. Dealer will sell for $4400 before the auction. Hope to pick it up cheaper at the auction

Peters, we gave up on 'regular' WB tires a long time ago. If you have a construction grade WB, it will, or should, have an 4" x 8" rim on it.

Put a 4.00/4.80 X 8" trailer tire on it.

It is harder, rolls easier, and will last forever.

They cost about $20 each.

I am not sure about Kubota, but I suspect like autos there is a carrying cost for the stock. The margins are better if the tractor is fresh off the truck, maybe as large as 30% if they go to MSRP and decreases as the tractor sits on the lot. Most dealers are looking for about a 10% margin and will acknowledge they make their money off other equipment, used tractors, parts and repairs. Equipment needs to be moving off the lot to make money.<br>
A poor dealer will quote MSRP and then discount the tractors that have some hours on them or have sat on the lot for 6 months to a year.

Most small tractors can complete the tasks of larger ones it just takes longer. If you take your time and don't try to push the little tractor it should handle the tasks.

Johnny1, the 1560 is a real nice rake, well built & easy to operate.I did not buy the flip down grader blade for my rake, i suppose it would work for very light duty, keeping in mind that the tines of the rake support the grader blade, and they are fairly flexible! Personally i prefer a front blade for grading, at present i dont own one, i sold my front blade & snowblower as they wouldn't fit my B3030.

Just wanted to post some feedback on how the clay mix is working. It rained on the spread out mix for 2 days and I have a tamping plate and will be tamping it down tomorrow. A lot of the clay washed off the top and the gravel is showing now so I think it is going to be looking nice with time. A few areas I have already tried tamping down seem to be packing down really hard and I think will make a great temporary driveway ramp into the garages until I have a cement drive poured.
