I paid $24500 for a BRAND NEW 2005 4115, with FEL, Frontier rear 6 ft blade, 46 BH, R4 loaded tires, Hydro, a 9" and a 24" bucket, and a 47 tiller, I had zero hours and a full warranty.
Your 4100 is 6 years old and has 100 hrs and NO Warranty and is gear.
I would try offering $10,000 and see what the response is and wait for a day or two for the dealer to dwell on your offer.
Bottom line is, if $12000 feels Fair to you and YOU will be happy then it is a GOOD deal.

Homes need to breath and I think it is too airtight and yet the heat is making it to the opposite side of the barrier that the cold is making it, giving you condensation that you can COVER UP but will never go away.
I think Grinder gave yousome good advice.

There is a huge auto auction in my township just down the road - I imagine that lots of shady characters visit the place trying to make a quick buck (along with honest car dealers, too, I'm sure), so I wouldn't be surprised if people would scout the area for easy pickings and since neither of us are home during work, my tractor could end up on a flat bed going to some unsuspecting farmer in PA or VA, so replacement insurance would be nice. But maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Here in Wisconsin they call it "Road Base" when it has the binder in it, usually clay. This is what my 1/2 mile long driveway is made from. After the first rains go through it the clay sinks in leaving a locking layer of rock on the surface. In general it works pretty well if it has enough drainage. If it collects water (low spot ect.) it turns into mush and is a mess.

I�ve replaced the band part once and the brackets that hold the band to the engine three times they where all covered under warranty. Check out the BX 24 the air cleaner is part of the radiator mount and not attached to the engine. Hmmmm!

This is my first winter clearing an 2000' driveway. I bought a rear mount blower which works pretty well for me. It takes me about 30-45 minutes to clear the drive and do misc. clean-up. It is slightly uncomfortable on the back and neck, but not unbearable. I'm sure I would love a front mount unit, but I dont want to give up the FEL. I use it A LOT not only for snow-removal, but for moving logs and lots of other jobs. Also, since I have a gravel drive, I have found that the FEL works pretty well to pack down the first few snowfalls so that Im not shooting stone all over my lawn when I use the blower. You'll find that there are many situations where a FEL is more appropriate to clear a path. Then again, I've never had a front-mount so I can't really compare.

Well I did it I bought a Kubota 2350 with front loader and post hole digger....Does anyone know if there is any type of attackment for trenching for sprinkler system.

I have been looking at the King Kutters myself and have been a little concerned about durability. I only have about 11 acres to maintain so it would get that much use. How happy have you been with yours?

I know time is of importance, I usually Tii with my JD 47 and then I put Chicken Mesh up arounf the entire garden and put in about 15 Chickens for a few days and their droppings and love of eating seeds make a good garden, when I till again in the Fall, I put the Chickens there again to eat any corn, tomatoes, cukes etc that are left and then I use Black Plastic over the dirt. I remove the plastic when the snow is gone.
I tried Straw, got weeds from it. This method seems to work the best, so far.
I love the JD 47 and had an Ole 55 on my JD 400 that I used for many years.

This is wonderful feedback. The differing opinions are good for perspective and the encouragement helps make the process of working through the vast number of tractors which seem to be out there a little more manageable.

A couple of additional pieces of information:

The berries will be bush fruit (raspberries, blue berries)and the situation is as Vooperpete suggested. We will be converting what is now mostly a hay field into veggies and fruit so we will likely be using the tractor to till, level the ground in places, and then mow. We are in the Pacific NW so snow removal is not an issue here.

I also picked up a used John Deere LX255 riding mower recently to mow the house lot and help out in tight places. It also seemed like a good machine for the kids to learn on as they move up to a tractor.

From the advice so far, it seems that a likely tractor would be a JD FWD 4100 ten or 4200 ten (or Kubota equivalent) with at least 20 HP at the PTO and Ag tires. Since it will have multiple users, an EHydro and power steering seems like a good idea.

Thanks to all for the good thoughts. I will keep checking in case anyone as additional advice.

Last time I checked, MSRP on a BX1500 with 54"MMM (no FEL) is about $9700. Obviously no one pays MSRP and I'm sure a dealer has plenty of room to move on price, but less than $6000 for a NEW base tractor? Unless there are factory incentives to the dealer to move product, that seems unbelievablely low to me. But hey, if you can get a price like that more power to ya!

They are made about ten miles from me in Rutland, Vermont and I was doing some real searching about a year ago.
Their price was $2000 for the tractor mount Log Splitter and when I talked with them they told me I had to have a minium of 11 GPM Hyrdalic flow for it to function correctly,. my 4115 only has 7.5 GPM. So I ended up buying a stand alone Hor/Ver with a Honda Engine for $500 less and it has more features and seems to be built just as rugged.
I guess it is all Preference. At least with a stand alone, I am able to tow it up to the location, leave it and keep the BH on my tractor which I use to lift the logs and hold them as I cut them into length. So I am happier with my decision.

AV8R- ye made an excellent choice. operate it safely; it's alot bigger than that BX. 730 hrs. on my L3130 GST and no problems. I did can the R4's for R1's though.

I have had a B-2400 for 11 years now and the only thing I can relate your problem to is your 4 wheel drive may not be fully engaged. I had similar(but not exactly) results one time and found out my 4 wheel drive had moved out a little. I always leave mine in.

a plumer friend of mine had an apprentice that hooked the tolit up to the hot water, 3 months later when the lady of the house asked why when she washes the tolit it is hot,he went back and fixed it. to bad there was a finished kitchen below it.

Check were the water is taken from on the eng and but foam pipe insul around the heater hoses long hoses loose alot of heat on the way to the heater. Have the same trouble with forklifts when wwe put heat in them.
