Try to find a cargo van with a headache cage in it at a salvage yard. These cages are usually made out of a square tube framework with expanded mesh. They are used in delivery / work vans to protect the driver. With a little work any of these could be cut to fit the purpose on FEL's. I have one salvaged from a Ford E-150 work van that I plan to mount on my B6200 w/ B1460 FEL, to do exactly what you want to do, when I am clearing brush, etc.

What kind of tractor do you have? If you have a sub-CUT such as a Kubota BX model, make sure you purchase one especially made for a sub-CUT...if you don't you will not get enough clearance when the 3pt is fully raised.

A landscape rake can be a very useful tool to rake debris and even to move and shape dirt to desired look.

There are a number of UCC search firms that could determine if there is a valid UCC lien filing on the tractor in question. You could ask an attorney to search for you or you could do a search thru a UCC search firm on-line.

UCC liens are filed on the person owning the equipment and not by the equipment itself. In other words, you can't search by a spefic serial number, but by the owner's name. The problem being is that the person you are dealing with may not be the "holder in due course" meaning he may not have a perfected ownership, so if you search his name you will not likely find anything. If you know he is the owner, per a bill of sale from a reputable dealer, then you can reasonably presume he is the rightful owner and if a UCC search shows no perfected liens, you can purchase with reasonable confidence. If the search brings up a lien, you need to make sure the lien is paid before you take possesion.

It's a complicated process and folks not fully understanding UCC law can get burned without professional assistance. You are best to purchase new or used from a reputable dealer, but if you really want to deal with a private party, get professional help....an ounce of prevention....

SC my personal recommendations normally are to go with factory original if possible. The people who designed the tractor shold know more about the loads that can be taken and where. I'd have to say a economical after-market could be had for mid three thousand with a upper end just over four. Don't buy a higher rating loader then what the manufacturer offers!

cb, I have a G-14 Yamaha cart with the four inch lift kit and ten inch tires on the front and twelve on the back and it does go good on dry ground but in heavy mud or snow it pushes the front end to much.

Farm Pro has sold thousands of the 2 cylinder engined tractors. You should be able to use NAPA 1381 oil and NAPA 3195 fuel on yours. wix numbers are similar (added number in front).

If you need other parts, a Farm Pro dealer will be your best bet in the case of the TY290 engine parts.

On these units, as well as newer ones even such as the B7100 DT or HST, B5200,6200 on up the line, B1550,B1750 etc, even on the B7500 series, whether DT (gear) or HST, all have a left foot clutch.

This is used, a) for starting interrupt, and b) for pto implement engagement.

Dealers all deal differently on trade-ins I know some that I here won't take them at all or barely, we will normally take like for like and only one of. I'd recommend selling what you don't want privately for a better deal on the backhoe. I'd worry on that tractor with the turf tires for loader backhoe work. You might want to switch tires out which would be another problem for you after the purchase.

The price is not all that far off. I know from my own checking around for my Woods, the scoops are about $300 each, whether it be 8",10",16", 24".

Watch the auctions...I was able to pick up two scoops, one 8", and another 16" for $90 each! (yes these are factory scoops, not aftermarket)

You'll love this one. Years ago when I bought my backhoe, it is a Woods 650 (6.5' depth), it had a 24' scoop on it - for that size hoe. I never really could fathom that size hoe with that size scoop. I use the 16" for most everything other than the trenching, and is great.
