The Kutter brand is gear driven with a slipclutch and shear pin. I sometimes wonder if these dealers have ever used any of the stuff they sell? I have used my Kutter side by side with a buddy who has a Deere and there is basically no difference. I bought via Fleet Farm - dont feel I need a dealer bias thrown in. If you look each type over, you will find most are pretty much the same - gear driven that is - so get the cheapest that will do the job. I am no brand fan except for Kubota.

With the understanding that I might be a bit biased (I have a 4115) I will venture into this fray.<br>

I think you must divide the the question into two parts:<br>
1) clearing the land and,<br>
<br>
2) maintaining the land.<br>
<br>
I am with Eric all the way on the size issue when it comes to land clearing but when that is done it is important that you are left with something you can live with.<br>
<br>
So the question is..... does the 4115 have what you need to maintain the land? I know it will do the hauling and digging chores if you are not running a farm operation or harvesting your own hay. <br>
<br>
So how often will you need to re-clear the land? If your land requires brush hogging every other month then you had better size the machine to do that. <br>
<br>
In some instances it makes more financial sense to buy the maintenance level tractor and then rent a big machine for a weekend or two to beat the place into submission.<br>
<br>
If you can make the logistics work, the 4115 will provide you with an ultra-reliable and very useful machine.

Macdaddy the crushed stones will always stay loose on the top but would be good for a layer in between the stone dust which would hold and compact hard for a strong surface that is not always plowed off every winter for when you do have snow.

I read everyone's comments about the paper issue and I smiled. We operate on a two level paper distribution system in our house. The primary level is the main storage area in a closet in a spare room. Then we have the staging area which is a shelf in one bathroom and the vanity in the other. We don't always keep the staging area stocked, but it's at least 95% effective. Sometimes she doesn't restock the staging area and that's when there are problems. I'm usually the one doing the resupply. But at least she goes along with the staging area.

I have a B3030 with FEL and 60" MMM. I think it is a great machine and would be a nice step up from your BX2230. However, I agree with Murf in that you might be happier in the long run by keeping your fine machine and looking for a used larger tractor for the bigger jobs that you will do occasionally. I also agree that for occasional BH work you are better off to rent a rubber track mini-excavator. I have done that a few times myself and have been very pleased with the capabilities of those machines. I would look for a '50s or '60s Ford 800 series or a MF 35 or 135 with a FEL. These are very nimble and solid tractors and will have the weight and power to run 5' to 6' brush hogs, 2 or 3 bottom plows, discs, etc. that you might want to use. Another good tractor from that era is an Oliver 550. I see these models listed for sale in the $4000 to $6000 range quite frequently. Just my .02 but I think you have a great machine right now for mowing and yard work. I would keep it and get another tractor for the bigger stuff. Good luck.

I've had an Erskin on my 2120 for 9 yrs now and to date no problems, very well built blower. By the way very nice site boys-glad I found it.

Same unit... I was initially told it had lower hours on it, so I passed.

In addition, I heard from an insider that it was being sold amongst a divorce... She ws selling it, but it was in his name... and the bank held the title..

I prefer clean cut deals.. pay, get the paper, go home. :)

Glad to help. The grapple is great - excellent for rolling up slash and carrying around smaller felled trees and stuff.

Ben, I haven't heard of this yet but the tractor hitch system should still be under coverage so talk with your dealer.

Johnny1 the make of a backhoe would also make a difference. I'd say off the cuff a little under four hundred will have the fold down rops to you but I don't have the price book with me either!!!! On the second attempt! Looking at the price book, retail is at 580. Time flys when your having fun, but so do the prices!

Kubota normally is good on shipments from the wharehouses or factories and most time is within a couple of weeks. Ther production schedule is mixed which never leaves a dealer out of stock for to long of a period. Some manufacturers are nine months out!

Based on my reading these comments earlier I used the float on my 2410 and it worked great, and I did not have to hold it in place. Thanks everyone for helping me understand how this works

I have a midwest box blade and I can tell you that they make a quality Box Blade. Most dealers can also get them in what ever color you need to match you tractor if that is important.

Just purchased a tractor with a Kelley B751 3 point backhoe attachment. Looking for an 8" bucket that will fit. Seller says he found one for $295.00. Not sure where but thought I would shop a bit before I call him. Any offers???<br>
