If I were deciding between a 7800, 2630, or 3030 I would probably take the 3030. It would be the most expensive, but with all the features--four cylinder engine, hydraulic PTO, and position control--I think it would be worth it. Unless you really needed a larger tractor, why don't you just get a backhoe for yours?

If I have a B7500 with a non-folding ROPS, would I have to get a folding one if I wanted to use a backhoe? If so, how much would it cost for my tractor?

I have an L3400 with a 3pt. hitch that shudders as I lift. It goes down fine. I've heard that Kubota has a fix for this problem on the L2800 and L3400 tractors. Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks , Ben

You might want to check out the previous thread on rotary tillers as it was helpful to me. Just a couple key items; Make sure your PTO HP is enough to operate the tiller sufficently, make sure the tiller is wide enough to cover your tracks or at least slides, gear driven seem to be popular however I think King Kutter and First Choice are chain driven and come highly recommended. Last but not least, Woods, LandPride, Frontier are well known for their HD tillers, but are more expensive. There are other high quality, not so dealer mainstream brands like CCM and First Choice that might be good alternatives, and they run around $1500 give or take depending on size!

Another site to price check is ironsearch. Like Ken said they are dealer prices so you need to discount if it is a private sell.
From what I know of the TC-30 pricing the price is fair but not a steal.

I replaced both tires on my big wheel barrow with solid polyurethane tires and love 'em. It's a little more bouncy now, but not having to worry about air is worth it.

Although some manufacturers frown on it, we used to use the 1,000 rpm setting (our newer tractors don't have it) to run light-power TPO run implements to save wear on the tractor.

Things like debris blowers, water pumps, etc. don't necessarily require the full PTO power a given tractor can produce at PTO speed. By running the tractor at half-speed, but setting the output to 1,000 rpm, you get a lower power output at 540 rpm PTO speed.

If you do end up with a brush-hog mower, get the optional grass blades. The are still heavy duty blades but the are built with a twist to them. This gives a little lift to the grass for an improved cut. And if you hit a little brush, they cut right through with no problem. They cost about $30 for both blades.

Oops - typo there, I corrected it to 4110. I also noticed I didn't make it very clear that I was looking for the Woods tiller for the 4110, and leaving most of the mowing and light hauling tasks for the GT245.

Now 'docs' post make even more sense to me, as I assume he was wondering why I was thinking merely changing tiller 'brands' on a tractor would improve things.

Changing to the tiller on that machine (GT245) was always a bit of a pain anyway.

I understand your concern about the smoke. My stove is only 70ft. from the house, which is close. There have only been a few days in two winters that I could smell the stove if I opened the back door of the house. It just depends on how green and how wet the wood is. I don't even cover mine, I just stack it on a trailer that I pull up in front of the stove. The stove I have, you make the chimney as high as you want. The stoves that have blower fans only smoke for the first 10 seconds and then clean up. My last electric bill was $97 for 1254kwh. My propane is at 40% of 500 gal. from 10/04.

Well I have been torture testing my Gator. The steering column is now loose and rattles in the bearing or shackle in there. Any suggestions as to tightening or repair? 2003 model.<br>

I also have a LK3054. I've got 300 hours on it and I've used it for loader work, brush/grass cutting and I have a Farmi winch that I've been logging pine logs up to 24" in diameter and the tractor has had no major problems except for a sight glass for the transmission leaking, which was a matter of getting one ($2.50) and installing it in about 15 minutes. I did have to add front weights and tire chains for working in the snow (logging), but it's a very capable tractor.

Regarding your note on the dealer supplied 2004 Kubota.

It's really tough to negotiate a near brand new Kubota with loader and BH as you describe. 45 hours? that's a baby. I never did find the equivalent to NADA used guide for tractors.
What's your reason to offer 15K? how do you justify that price?
Seems to me that's a lot of cash for a whole lot of tractor. Final price is just between you and the dealer frankly, walk in with cash to make an impression.
If he doesn't accept, you walk I suppose.
Right now, with springtime 2 months away dealer can sit tight and wait for the spring ;enthusiasm; to occur where buyers think about landscaping.
Better off working a Kubota finance deal (new)so as not to place so much cash down at once. Best of lick.
