It's always a good idea to clean the suction screen during the 50 hr service. There are always filings from the manufacturing rpocess that you will find on the screen at 50 hrs. It may not be required, but is always a good idea.

Make sure that you document the problem with the dealer service to protect or even extend your warranty. I doubt there was any damage to the tractor.

I just purchased a 4720 back in September and now need to figure out how I can get the cab version. Anyone in need of a new 4720 (only 80 hours)? The cabs are really nice and I know I will eventually end up with one real soon. I just don't want to give 4 or 5k away getting rid of my 4720. I keep seeing myself in this cool cab on those hot humid days in July and August, with the mosquitos and bugs on the outside.

Does anyone have, or know if you even can, attach a front end snowblower on a JD4200? I found one company that makes one for a 4300, but they said the clearance on a 4200 was too low for their machine.

I had no problem with my empty trailer that weighs about 2800 lbs but you might be right with a heavy load. I see they sell a stabilizer for their forks which tells me that they may move around.

Nope, way to warm in Iowa. Was close to 40+ degrees yesterday and we had thunderstorms overnight. All that water, warmth and the frost would make the yard softer than jello. Ugh!!

Carl, the site Ken linked to is good, but IMHO, it is a little more important to have a working knowledge first. If you don't understand the what, why, where and how, you will just be wandering aimlessly in the dark. You don't need a 4 year college program, just the basics.

One of the best examples I've found is a US DOT publication, linked to below. While it is aimed at 'real' roads, and for people who do it for a living, it is a really good crash course for anybody. Well worth the time to read it.

IMHO, the other critical item is the equipment. Without the right stuff it can be a long and tiresome job. With the good stuff, it's a joy to do.

I would suggest a good box blade is the first choice. Next is a coin toss between a good landscape rake or rear blade, hopefully both having a double offset hitch. They are for pulling the shoulders back without driving in the ditch to do so.

Ideally you would have a hydraulically adjustable, tow-able box blade with independently adjustable gauge wheels or pull-behind grader attachment. Either would be a serious investment to the average homeowner.

I use 3 Oz. of PS from the white bottle to 5 Gal of diesel fuel the year around.
I took a baby bottle and marked the 3 6 and 9 ounce marks with a black sharpie pen.
Using the baby bottle and marking it like this saved me from ever having to use a measuring cup or funnel again. Let me tell you I don't miss having to clean up a funnel and a measuring cup every time I go to add 3 ounces of PS to the 5 gallon can when I take it to get it filled.

Hi,

A JM220 would be a 2 wheel drive unit. Does it have power steering? If not a Farm Pro 20HP tractor can be had for that (or less) and will have a 2 year parts and labor warranty up to 2000 hours. The 20HP engine is not EPA certified (except Homier/Farm Pro). Many are imported under TPEM program and if done correctly are legal to import. There do not appear to be any major differences between the Homier Y380 engine with EPA label and the non EPA version, so most all parts should be interchangagbe. This is assuming you are getting a Yangdong Y380 engine, some Jinma tractors have been arriving with laidong 380 engines and parts for those are not as common.

Since the 4wd version of this tractor sells for about 6K, I think the price is fair.

You will be pleased with the tractor, they work well, sometimes an occasional minor problem, but all in all a great value. this tractor will outlast 3 or 4 sheet metal framed riding mowers and save a bunch on fuel costs too.

If the site glass is all yellow on level ground it is over full. You will see the yellow/white when it is a proper level. This wll not really hurt anything though unless it is way over full.

The tinny rattle sound that goes away when you press the clutch in is normal.

The whine when operating is also normal. Kubota recommends running the engines of HST rigs at PTO speed. This minimizes the whine.

Use the lowest range practical for the work your doing.

But most important, enjoy your L3400.

hello all new to this but here goes i am looking to buy a new 220 jinma tractor here in north carolina for 4888.00 would like to know if this is a good tractor an what i should look for. i don't think its a epa an don't know what that means. i only have 3 acreas to care for an thought i mite buy a fel for it. scrape blade box blake, brush hog. will this tractor do the job. and what is the diffents in a none epa tractor and are parts east to get for both. here is the link to there web site.

Umm, they are called "shear bolts" for a reason -- they are supposed to break instead of something more expensive like a gear box breaking. You SHOULD NOT be replacing shear pins or bolts with the hardest thing you can find -- they should be no more than a Grade 2 bolt.

Thanks Boomer. I used to to a bit of body work, so your advice is a good reminder.

Anyway, the car now lives in my garage. Other than going back to get an alignment and some other minor front end work, she's gonna be a good runner (and alot cheaper than new!).
