I received skid plates on a stock order frok JD in less than one week, thought this might be helpful for people who think they aren't available. Going to put on this weekend. Jim F

I'm not really sure of current prices, but the price sounds about right to me..<br>
I'm not real familiar with the 1914. But reliabilty on my Kioti DK 35 has been great so far.<br>
I've owned it now for 4 years/ 705 hours and never had a problem,the tractor has never been back to the dealer.( I Replaced a tachometer cable at around 500 hours)<br>

I did a similar project last year. Took my old 84" rear blade and made it a front snow plow that goes on the loaders quick attach.
I welded a bracket for adjustable skid shoes on the blade.
I also made my blade so it can trip/flip down and spring back if I hit something solid to help prevent damaging the loader.( I highly recommend this feature, because you WILL hit something solid).

The first thing you should do is what shortmagnum said. Spend a lot of time thinking of ALL the expenses/overhead that you will have and I mean EVERYTHING. You need to include how much money you want to take home each week. Try to figure it as monthly costs, that is monthly rent, elec., heat, etc. Multiply by 12 then divide by 52. Now you have your weekly costs so divide it by 40. Now you have your hourly costs with your take home pay. Is that anywhere near your $40 per hour figure. Don't forget you have to pay taxes. It is tricky to be in business and really make money. DO NOT ALLOW CREDIT, your best friends may stiff you. Come backs will eat you up. Been there, done that. A little bit gun shy now.

The sight glass is white when ther is no oil over it especially when new. I have found that ther will be a small air bubble trapped in the top of the glass when full but it might go away. As long as you don,t see all white your ok.

The problem is probably at the flow adjustment valve. Either the valve is froze in a closed position, or it needs to be cleared. Make sure when you turn the adjuustment knob that the valve is moving. Sometimes when they freeze up the knob turns without moving the valve. If the valve shaft moves, you will probably need to remove the valve and clear out whatever has restricted the flow.

Kinda looked for a it manual looks like they might not make one. The ford/newholland model before the tc29 was a 1725 i think they are the same tractor just a diff model #. Have you just tried to get the pto part of the repair manual, they do come in sections? And what is the pto doin or not doin?

Dave, do you have a FEL, or do you want to start from the hydraulic block.

If you run from the FEL like we did (no rear block on the 7800), you only need to make sure you run a Power Beyond circuit, so the downstream valves see un-disturbed pump flow. You can get a diagram of a simple power beoyond circuit from the Princehydraulics website. Running off the rear block would also require a Power Beyond Circuit.

We originally (BC..Before Cab) mounted the valves to the loader tower for two reasons. It simplified the Power Beyond plumbing off the FEL valve so all the hoses were hidden, and allows the operator to control the valves with your right hand, like the FEL. I've seen a lot of installations with the spool valves mounted off the ROPS, and didn't like the "dangling" hoses. We also fabricated brackets for the plugs that mount to the rear axle instead of the ROPS. This way, all the hoses are tucked away under the tractor and not run anywhere where thay can be seen or, more importantly, get hung up on anything.

With a cable remote joystick, the spool valves can be mounted anywhere that would reduce the hose runs and be out of the way. We left the spool valves on the tower when the cable remote was added.

I do not extend the oil change interval. If I can, whats the sense, I'm using this (more expensive/better quality oil) to make my engine last as long as I can, Not to squeeze every penny out of the increased cost. (IMHO)

That price sounds correct. I have a L3430 and I replace the filters in spring and fall and I believe I am paying over $50 for the ones I use.
Wish they were less, but havent found any place that sells them for less. I use the Kubota brands.

I will need to replace entirely. Turning the pins is not an option, as the wear is that bad. I picked this bulldozer up cheap because the guy didnt want to replace this stuff. I will replace everything I can, as I expect it to last me the rest of my life. I dont use it alot each year, but dont want the tracks coming off and I am afraid that is what will happen if I continue long. I was told I can get the entire assembly for each side already put together(or as much as possible), then it is a matter of taking off the old, replacing the gears and whatever else looks to need replacing. The rest of the dozer is in good shape(engine,blade,hydraulics,transmission,etc), so it is
worth doing.

The other point to keep clearly in mind is that there is the law of physics / nature, and then there�s the �rules� of process, i.e., the building codes. The laws of physics, for the most part, are deterministic. Unfortunately the same can�t be said about the building codes and laws of men.

In my opinion the building codes are established primarily to keep the masses from hurting themselves. Recall that old saying, �a little knowledge can be dangerous�.

I look at some of the electrical discussions that occur on these boards, and to be honest I have to ask myself why people would even attempt some of these projects based on their limited grasp of the fundamentals. Seems to me that they are just setting themselves up for trouble. The sad thing about it, is that their knowledge is so minimal that they tend to get �snookered� by the �flubby dust� and �mythical� stories that others post as responses.

Why not take a class, read some books --- do some research. The responsibility is on the individual asking the question to sort out the advise. But remember, one needs a basis or foundation for making such a determination

Certainly true for me, but my finances and inexperience narrowed my range to something I could purchase, use, and possibly resell without too much of a loss. I think what this little Kubota is, if nothing else, a real piece of equipment, not a lawn toy.

If it all works out, I'll probably find it easier to justify the cost of an upgrade.

Now to try to get something done with it.

The battery on the 4210/4310/4410 machines is a BCI group 22NF which Optima doesn't make, so there's no easy direct drop-in replacement. Randy found a battery of another brand which works with modification to the battery mount. At one time I emailed JD and suggested they work with Optima to make a drop-in replacement battery to reduce warranty claims. They acted interested but apparently it was just an act. On mine the dealer pulled the radiator and oil cooler and cleaned and repainted everything all under warranty. That's when they gave me a remote vent cap.

I've been reading your postings. My father just gave me his 2130 after the dealer pretty much told him the same story. Dealer told him that with the trouble it was only worth a few hundred dollars. To look at it you wouldn't agree it's spotless. Anyway his problem was when hot it wouldn't move at all in any gear. Let cool for a little while and all is fine again. Is this what yours did? How is it now after the shims were added? What exactly are you shimming? I was going to do exploratory surgery on it to figure out what was going on - is this the common problem with the 2130?

The front tires at 75% fill may not hold enough fluid to be worth the trouble. That's the only reason I can think of.
