If you're asking whether I do that, no. But a hydraulic toplink IS actually on my shopping list for 2006. At the moment I get by with the good old fashioned threaded style; dismount and adjust by hand.

One thing I have noticed over 20 years is that they do not like the Arsinic treated wood (the old green pressure treatment). I have had tree stands for over 20 years and never once have I found a nest under one of them. I have had 3-4 stands that were built with plain old untreated plywood and 2x6's and sure enough their is almost always a nest under those. Dont know if its shear luck or if the arsinic has something to do with it. Also I notice my old dog NEVR laid down on my arsinic treated wood deck? Dont know if it had something to do with it or not.
Here is my newest idea's on controlling these little basturds. This spring I plan to trap as many of the early flying females as I can. (after early spring I think it is futile to continue trapping since all of them are just servants of the nest then.) I also plan (and tell what you think of this idea) to drill a round 1 ince hole in the top of this shed. Attatch a hose adaptor and attach a 10' long hose to it. (enough so I can reach it from the ground) Seal up around the hole and then wait till summer! LOL HA HA After I know there is a nest in there I will use the hose to administer that fogger that kills these little pollinating loving little friends of plants.
This will be more FUN than anything! It also assures me of being able to get in this shed with out having a minor cardiac arrest. Whatcha think of that idea?
By the way? Did I tell you I just love this this time of year? 10 inches of snow and not one hornet.

Last thing. Have you ever noticed this? I left a nest from the year before in the peak of my house last year there were NO new hornets that made a nest in that spot? Is this because of the old unused nest there?

I purchased a B7800 this fall and love it. I have had a Super A with a Belly mower for years that I really like it for all the reasons everyone likes a belly mower, but also have a 72" rear finish mower on an old Long 350. I put the finish mower on the B7800 because I ran out of cash. With the hydrostatic trans, I really like the rear mower for trimming. Yes you do get tired of turning around, but can back under bushes, into corners that a belly mower can't do. Secret to me is the easy forward/back hydro over a clutch with the rear mower. And rear is easier off/on with 3 pt hitch. I'd get solid tires on the mower.

I can't sat I have ever seen a precleaner on a 4960. They were equipped with a aspirator that used a venturi effect to suck excess dirt out of the air filter housing. If your filter is clogging too quickly, maybe the aspirator hose is torn. If you just like the appearance of a precleaner stack, I dont see any reason you can't add one. if you remove #4&5 from attached diagram and fabricate an elbow to extend through a hole you could cut in the hood, you would be all set. Item #2 in diagram is the aspirator hose if you want to check it.

I've run both the two range and three in many different applications and I'll take a three range any day. As far as the new higher performance most often in many companies means better then they had before. Still might not be the highest or best but new to them!

I don't think they do Murf, we'd better keep tis type of knowledge quiet or we will have to have a muti billion dollar study for ten years to study the feasablity of implementing it. It does seem strange they can find the barn that one cow came from but can't find 500,000 illegal immigrants.

We sell Worksaver and so far have had good luck with them. There are many manufacturers that are working on them now for introduction soon. Do get it with the extension for the deeper hole. Another nice option is the guide handle.

Hmmmmmm..As goes for the reply on the Kioti's you would be correct on them being Daedong! Therefore the dealer gave me bad info. Oh well...no biggie.....I wont be going with them. It will be blue...waiting on a quote from another dealer, hopefully will have all said and done by Christmas.....we will see.....

One of our neighbors had a new one about 10 yrs. ago, I don't know the model number anymore. But back to the topic, I used to cut their grass quite a bit as they traveled a lot in the summer. I used their Dixon ZTR. It was a real nice machine to run, did a nice job on their rather hilly lawn. If I were to go back to a dedicated mowing machine I surely would give them a good look. I remeber his posts and photos. But I am sad to say I didn't know him well. On the plus side it looks like he enjoyed life. A good memorial to him would be for all of us remember to enjoy life while we live it. You never know when it will be your turn to cross into the next adventure.

ye Peter, seeing as this tractor doesnt have a water pump I suspect that Murf is 100% correct in the fact that a thermostat would only hinder it's cooling operation. I did replace the electronic temp sending sensor with a manual sensor and guage which is indicating that I am running at about 223F to 230F under medium load conditions. I have been trying to find out what the "normal" operating temp should be, but as of date the few emails I have sent to those I could find that work in this type of tractor have not answered me. As Murf indicated the Asian Spec run hotter that the NA specs, so 230f-240F may not be considered hot for this tractor????? Maybe Im just a little paranoid.. lol. Best I can hope for is that a dealer or a Yanmar mech. sees one of my posts and can verify this info..

It's safe to do IF you put a gauge into one of the SCV couplers and set it to factory specs. They do tend to drift lower with age and use. The adjustment involves adding additional shims (available from JD) under the pressure release spring. If I remember right, it's accessed by rmoving the sheet metal panel right below the seat.
