So while we are at it...another question.

In searching through e-bay, the idea of buying one of those mini excavators comes to mind. A new 3pt hoe is in the neighborhood of 5-7K....or so. For the same, or a touch more, you can buy one of these 1 to 2 ton mini excavators. Of course, they are used and represent an entire another machine to keep running, and one with tracks to boot. But, the idea of the nibleness, and having to machines to work together, and the overall advantage of the excavator setup, it seems like it might be a worthwhile purchase.

Any exerpience with the mini excavators? They seem to be small little diesels, I assume running nothing directly, but everything is hydraulic. So, a 12 hp or so diesel running a hydraulic pump....

Any thoughts? Stupid question....please share your thoughts...

Dennis, I looked at the TIVO option they have as that would give me HDTV and TIVO. But their discount for me was still way out of my price range. As I'm a long term customer, they dropped their upgrade price on the HDTV receiver and dish. But only after I emailed them to remind them I could get a significantly better deal by switching to their competitor.

I'd love the TIVO, but it's just too expensive for me to get past the boss. I'm surprised I got the HD upgrade slid past. I've had the TV for 2 years, but have needed the receiver to get the HDTV signals. But using the DVD on an HD unit is awesome!

I figure I can wait for the price of the DVR's to come down before I go that route. It will probably take 2-3 years. By then my kid will be old enough to be in control of our lives so TIVO/DVR may be my only option to catch my programming.

All of this talk has me thinking of fabing up some skids for my rear blade. I haven't used skids before due to my topography and how the snow setles. But it would be good shop time and an excuse to use the welder... It would also help keep rocks out of the grass.

I've got a 4310 and the loader is off most of the time in Summer. I put on when I need it and then pull it off right away. I have a 72" mid-mount mower so having the loader off is really nice. I have to maneuver around trees, landscaping, hills, fences, etc. So having the loader off is best for me. It goes on and off in a snap.

I drop my loader on a concrete pad in my shop. I haven't had any problems with leakdown, but it's pretty new yet. I was timid at first and didn't have anyone watching me. So I took my time. Once I took it off and put it on once, I was like "this is so easy, sweet!!"

That's my story and I'm sticking too it.

You did not say how new your Kioti was.....

I have seen with the 2 new CK30s I bought that the hydraulic
fluid that comes with the tractor is on the low side and of
unknown brand. Furthermore, one of the machines experienced
a significant leak past one of the loader cyl seals when
the fluid got very hot. I suspect the original fluid is a
cheaper fluid that loses viscosity rapidly with higher temp.
I suggest replacing all the hyd fluid with a good tractor-hydraulic synthetic like Chevron THF 1000.

If you're interested in selling that combination outright, I'm in Pittsburgh and have been looking at the same setup (new) at my local Kubota dealer.

I think the price he gave you is about right considering he'd probably try and sell it for around $8900.

Many engines have tight chanels in the block and head. It is difficult to fill the engines correctly and they need to be power filled. I might suspect a chanel has not been drilled properly if it has always stayed hot.

Like Art suggests check the machine with another temperature gauge. A temperature gauge is just a thermal couple. It can go, will go and can be incorrect from day one. Years ago I would weld my own thermocouples for experiments. I can not tell you how many were bad or went bad. You are welding two dissimilar metals so it is the nature of the beast. Like brasing steel.

Chris, the 2210 suits my needs reasonably well. However, the loader does not work well for snow removal. The slit pipe installation has been discussed here in the past and would help. But the real problem with the loader, is that does not roll the snow to the side like a blade would. I actually use my box blade, going in reverse to clear most of my snow. Unless it gets too deep, then I use the FEL to move it and pile it. A 5� rear blade that can be angled would work even better than the box blade, except for having to twist around to look behind you all the time.

If I had only one choice for a landscaping implement, it you be the box blade. It allows you to rip up compacted soil, move it around, and level it off. Matter of fact, I just used my box blade to reclaim another 1/4 acre from the alfalfa and gophers about a month ago. Couple things I don�t like about mine is that at the time I purchased my box blade, the sub-CUT sized implements were not readily available, so the attachment points on my box blade are for a true CAT-1 3-point, and not the limited CAT-1. As a result, it does not lift as high. Which also limits how much you can rock it forward and back with the top link. The other thing is with the 2210, I do not have position control the 3-point, which would be helpful with grading tasks.

The 22NF is an odd size as the plates are smaller than the standard 6". The battery you found may be the only sealed unit sold. The price reflects the rarity. I checked the Deka guide as they make a large selection of AGM and gell batteries.
One option would be to go to a low gassing Ca based battery. The discription is in the Deka guide.
If it is any consilation the JD 750 and JD 955 have the same problem. Placing the battery over the front axel and next to the hot radiator is not a good idea for a battery.

I would not go with a light 7 ft cutter. The larger deck makes them suseptable to bending. They are a lot heavier than the 6 ft. With the width I would not go with a single rear wheel. My 287 BH requires 55 HP. The weight make it trouble even for a larger frame tractor like my MF65. I would recommend you either limit you self to the 6 ft or get a heavy 60 hp tractor.

Heard about it, had it put on, made the matter worse. No explanation from Kubota why some B3030's do not vibrate. Have driven one that doesn't so they realy do exist.

I have the BX2750B on the B7610 and it works great. I have a 1000 foot paved drive. It even handles the large parking area I have with no problem where I have to keep blowing snow over again.

They are available without the backhoe but the most favored package is with the hoe. Depending on needs you might be better off with a standard none industrial strength unit and those do come in the hydro or you could move up to the L-48 which also come with a hydro.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I agree that the dealer really makes the difference. I also don't mind going a little bigger for the power to choose whatever implement I might want. With all the 0% financing available it seems like a no-brainer. Should have made a decision in about two weeks and will let you all know what we decide on.

I am looking at purchasing a Raptor 4000H 4X4 hydrostat utility vehicle. I have read good and bad reviews concerning this manufacturer compared to the big boys - kawasaki, john deere, cub cadet, polaris, and ect.. Does anyone here have an opinion of real life use of this machine. The model I am looking at has the 25hp air cooled kohler enging, hydostat drive, bed lift, and aproximately 200 hours. It apparently is a popular unit in the mid west but I am not sure how much of a footprint they have in other parts of the country. Any advice would be appreciated I need a UTV but have a limited budget and have to shop for the best deal.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that the oil quantity listed in the manual for the transmission of my 4410 was wrong. It listed 6.8 gallons of oil for the eHydro trans. My drain pans QUICKLY alerted me to the obvious as the 8 gallon catch pan ran over! When I completed the 50 hr. break in service I ended up putting slightly over 9 gallons of Hygard back in the trans to get it back to the full mark. I suspect your 4600 maybe the same way.
