I still feel it is as much good filters as well as good oil that will make your engine run a long time, as far as going 1 million miles that mobil 1 claims that isnt uncommon at all in the trucking industry about every oil can make that claim, shell rotella/chevron/sunoco oil and more and that is there standard oil not synthetic. as far as amsoil having the market cornered on synthetic I dont make that statement,I said amsoil has a loyal following of customers who after using it feel it is superior to other products out there,As far as the API rating on oils I feel it is like the good housekeeping seal useless,

Though I don't have one (yet), I have heard that a toothbar makes a loader into a digger very quickly. Moving rocks and more compacted soil would be far easier with a toothbar to break the material up, first.

There are several manufacturers around on the 'net, but the first place to start would be your dealer (IMO). I have seen prices for my LA211 (BX2230) ranging from $150 to $500, for a 48" toothbar.

Found a nice D-15 with 3pt and few dents, wide front, power steering for around $3800. Always wanted a D-15, would use it for bush-hog, post-hole digger, dirt work. Is this a good price? Anyone had poor luck with the D-15?<br>
Any advice on the old allis loaders, with gravity dump bucket? Are they worth using for dirt work?<br>

I see JD also has several front mounts, diesels, with 4wd. City crew has one, and they are built on the same frame as the 585 (just turned around end for end).

Hardly comparable to a DUI. I know several people with DUI convictions who are upstanding citizens who have mended their ways. I can't say I know any murderers though (not that I would care to).

Could anyone give me the volume a 54" bucket holds on a Kioti ck20? The dealer thought greater then 1/2 yard, but I highly doubt it. I would guess nearer 1/3 yard. <br>

No I have never had a problem like that with the steering on my DK 35.
I have 665 hours on my 35. The only problem I have had with my tractor is the tachometer cable broke at around 500 hours.

The 3400 is a great unit and we've sold good numbers. We sell three brands, and actually could say I sell the NH only painted red. Cadet is Mitshbitshi and Dae Dong or Kioti, looking at the warrantee work we do and what I recommend would be what I'd be looking at buying given the information I've recieved of the jobs to do and the terrain and time. I listen to customers as to why they like the equipment they are using and I often use much of the equipment we sell which also helps in knowing what the equipment can do!

jdgreg, I'm sure the caps will fit some other batteries but not all. You'd have to try it to be sure. The JD dealer may just give you one. Mine did. Sure worth a try if it's free.

Not familiar with the Farm Pro 8240? Is this a new model line? I have seen the Farm Pro 8020 which looks to be a pretty impressive machine with the 80 hp Perkins diesel provided the price is competitive.

Can you expand a little more ont the specs. for the 8240 and if you don't mind my asking; what did you pay for it and where did you buy it?

Below is a link to a "bucket/dipperstick/boom" diagram. This should help you to identify which hose and you can price the hose on the JDparts website. Your dealer should be able to give you a better price than what is on the website.

Art brings up a good point, you can definitely go smaller than a B3030. Look at the B7510 and B7610 as alternates to the BX if you plan on going into any rough areas with a loader. The extra ground clearance makes it easier to attach implements and your ground clearance quickly gets used up in loader and scraping activities making a BX a little less useful.

I'm sort of where you are now, but I have a 2210 and have owned a 4110 and still ponder over the "true value for myself", i.e., stepping up slightly as opposed to a considerable jump up the latter. In fact, my good friend has commented to me "you will not be happy unless the next purchase exceeds your expectations, based on your experience with the 2210, because it's a great overall machine".

No question, the bigger machine, i.e., 2320..2520 will give you better control of the 3-point (position control, added height for lifting implements, and backhoe option), and for the loader you will gain speed and lifting ability and I know from the larger frame vs 2305 you will have a more stable platform. However, if the 3-point usage is not a high priority (meaning the 2210 easily covers your needs and mine does a great job with bush hog, 50" tiller, 4' boxblade, rake, etc.) and you can live with lift capacity of the 200CX, then your right, it becomes tought to consider the additional 5K.

If you have been on this site long, then you know there are many VERY HAPPY 2210 guys (not to imply the 4000 series guys are not happy as well), but you consistantly hear "this is a wonderful machine and believe me it has attitude".

If you are looking at the CK20, check out the larger
CK25/30 with the KL130 loader. In the $15K+ range and as good as the Kubs.

I have had several JD 955s. I have bought several operator's manuals (tractor and loader separtely) on Ebay and one I & T aftermarket repair manual for this series. The I & T manual is only fair and I got it from Overstock.com. The Technical Manual TM1360 from JD is expensive but comes up on Ebay often.

I am not saying that it is not possible to purge the oil from the FEL hyd. circuits and cylinders but it may not be practical. Ideally you would want to be able to exchange all fluids for new when changing the trans. oil and filters but the FEL hyd. circuit retains the oil remaining in it and short of draining each cylinder and line individually; I think it would prove to be a VERY messy and PITA process that would not yield the results to justify the hastle.

The oil is goes through 2 filters and a very fine sump screen which should more provide more than adequate filtering. I would guess a 460 FEL may retain possibly as much as 5 gallons of fluid and more likely less. The 4600 HST is listed as holding 33 qts. of trans. oil and 27 qts. for the gear trans. I can understand your concern of wanting to get as much fluid as possible out during the change.

I did my own change on my 4410 during the 50 hour break in service and to be honest; the oil I drained out looked as good as what I put back in from the Hygard plastic jugs. The machine has performed well without problems. I have about 238 hours on it currently.

In my opinion, I think you would more than likely do more harm than good as you would be introducing large pockets of air into your hyd. system which tends to make hyd. and hydrostatic pumps VERY unhappy not to mention opportunity for running for short instances without oil which is never good.

I think you would be best advised to perform the service by the book. Perhaps your dealer may have some more detailed info.
