I became a believer in synthetics back in the late 70's. I bought a new VW Scirocco and ran SL-1 synthetic oil in it from 10k miles on. At 110k miles a head gasket blew due to cranking up the turbo boost too high (my hot rod days). When I pulled the head I was astonished at how clean it was. The machine marks on the cam were still visible. No wear whatsoever, and none of that brown varnish was present. I have used synthetics ever since (on equipment I care about anyway).

I appreciate the wonderful advice from the board memmbers. However, My original post dealt with a pricing issue. I was quoted $11,700 from a dealer in CT for a BX2230 with bar tires (loaded) and a FEL. I wanted to know if this price is a fair representation of the market in the Northeast.

Murf, I don't think they sell the Discovery any more. They sell a Freelander and an LR3 though. Not sure which of those is close to the Discovery. As far as Edmunds TCO ratings, the Navigator at $1.00/mile comes close to the Range Rover. Others are up there as well - the BMW X5 is .88/mile. They don't have a number for the Escalade yet.

hey all, new to board.looking at buying a jd la tractor for restoration.the ser# tag is gone,does anyone know if it is on the tractor in another spot besides the tag?also,would anyone have an idea of what this tractor would be worth before restoration?it is in pretty good shape now but needs to be redone to look showroom again.<br>

My BX2230 leaked at the same connection, the dealer came out and fixed it for nothing under warranty and also found that I was not getting full pressure in my hydrolic system so he changed it to get it back to factory specs. Keep an eye on the leak to make sure it does not start again.

well...i already ask this question..answer...kubota b21...as for the legal sue...well the base of the action was that the colors were too similar between the companies and kubota claimed that the orange and blue is their trade mark...the sue was never complete as kioti agree to change their color which is now grey and orange... as for the engine...kioti bought the same plans from the original designer this would explain why they have both the same engine (design) is it the truth? i don t know..legend and false informations are hard to distinguish...hope someone will make it clear....

Although the tractor doesn't book that high on it's own when you had up the costs of the options it makes it look real good. Those tractors were very reliable and were replaced by the B-2710.

According to machinerylink dot com $8500 is in the ballpark for one in good condition but that's more than I'd pay for that setup. 650 hours isn't too many hours, but you do know that 2WD tractors aren't very desireable, right? They don't play well with loaders, if you ever want one, and that's half the utility of a small tractor.

Me being the type person that does not take great pleasure in switching out implements just to be doing it: I would use what's already installed on the tractor. Your front bucket should scoop 6" of top soil with no problem. If it seems to be difficult you could dig strips with back hoe then scoop out remainder with bucket. I actually do alot of what you are doing by back dragging my bucket at full or almost full tip back then scoop it up. Depends on how hard your ground is. I do have a box blade but do most everything with fel, I do not have back hoe.

My 98 F150 just passed 200K miles this weekend. That in itself is no big deal. What I think is outstanding is that other than maintenance, the truck has NEVER BEEN IN THE SHOP. Not even for an oxygen sensor. Like the eveready bunny it just keeps going and going. In fact it runs and drives like it was new. I keep looking at new trucks but for now I can't seem to justify one.<br>

I would be the first to complain if it was a lemon. Because of its excellent record I thought I should give Ford credit for selling me a great product.<br>

Tractorbuyer, I understand where you are coming from, however, I would recomend the TC. A year ago I brought a TZ24DA, HST, with a 60"MMM, out the door for $10.5K. It's an excellent tractor but has its limits. <br>

I wish I had gone ahead and spent the extra money to purchase a TC24. I have a 5' rear blade I purchased from a co-worker for $50 (cat 1), but had to modify it so the TZ could lift it more than a couple of inches, not enough 3PH lift height. I have been laying 8" ductle iron pipe, a 20' section weighs 640lbs. The tractor handles the weight okay, but I don't have the ground clearance to straddle the pipe without removing the mower. <br>

On the other hand, if I had purchased the TC24, I would problably have wanted the TC29. Please heed the advice of others on this board as to purchasing the right size tractor. Dave

We have 7/8" Gold Edge Seal OSB subfloors and had a sink overflow in the laundry room. The cut edges of the OSB have swelled up some and telegraphed through the linoleum. I would only use OSB in an area where there is absolutely no way for it to get wet.
