Your tractor not to defend it but a block heater might help it's cold weather performance and is far less money to spend and if it was a good model would help keep the new tractor's sales tax in check. There were many models of tractor's built by IH in the seventies and it would help me to better help you with the model number so I could know what you and your husband are used to so I could better advise you for your replacement. At this point there are small round balers that work fine behing the L-series of the Kubota line but your best value might be the MX or M version to give you a little extra horsepower. Often during haying it is nice to have a couple of tractors to make the task of hooking and hooking less and they all don't need to be the largest or equal size or features. To handle a 5x6 bale of dried hay off a bucket spear you would need a lift capacity in excess of a ton while bringing it back to the lift arms or pivot area would mean a couple hundred lbs less and all of this is important to giving a good recommendation to you.

My favorite up here in NY is blends of Kentucky Blue but it is expensive straight up and they do a lot with Creeping Red Fescue which seems to spread good and is extremely hardy but get's in to my gardens easily and is hard to stop the creeping action but the turf at 3" plus is lush and hard to kill with the dry summer we are having and it does wear well. We are on a good loam with good drainage from gravel and sand below.

If you don't have down pressure, then you have float! Three point hitches have pressure only one way and that is up!

Enjoy your 7800. Spent the weekend with the forks on ours. Moved 192 landscape timbers around the yard with them. Would't be without.

The three point hitch problem is a matter of adjustment by the tractor operator on a Kubota! The inmates were used while an extended strike by the unions basically closed some plants, interesting enough the quality control stayed at the same level at the dealers end and the inmates were not used in the factory that builds the TC-s or DX CNH tractors. Now the biggest thing that should be of concern that does have merit is what you have for jobs to do and the attachments you want to use with the tractor to do the work.

Sorry to bother you guys again, but I've got a "rookie" question on trailer axles. I took the flooring off my "new" used trailer this weekend. Now I'm replacing all the wiring as some had cracked insulation.<br>

But I noticed that both axles have a slight (and equal) bow to them. They are "drop" axles and do not look as though there was a problem. I'm suspecting that they are bowed (up) and flex down under load. Am I right??<br>

I am looking at buying a 1977 Belarus 520 in Texas. It is 4WD with 70 HP, 52 HP. Does anyone have ideas of approximate range of value? Are there problems that anyone knows of with this model?

Spray some Boeshield T-9 on it when you are finished using it and put it up for a lengthy time. I use it on many of my tools and implements to keep them from rusting.

ONEACE: My dealer told me the TS's are having problems with loader arms not being strong enough so they're being redesigned due to the extra power going through them from the rubber tracks. I have steel tracks now----should I be concerned? Also, have you seen anyone double up on the vertical rub strips on the cab to keep the loader arms from moving side to side so much?

I'm looking at a 2004 NH TC29DA, the tractor is probably everything I need. It comes with a loader. Just wondering how the Kubota L2800HST stacks up against the NH. I know the Kubota has some 3pth problems, but the NH's issues with the strike makes me wonder too. Any thoughts on this issue would help me. Thanks.

The three point hitches on all sub-compacts work the same, as far I as know. All these tractors lack "position control" of the hitch, as do some basic-featured regular compact tractors. There is simply a lever that you move back to raise, push forward to lower, and the "hold" position is in the middle. The hitch is only raised with hydraulic pressure and cannot develop down pressure so in a way the "down" position is a lot like a float.

As a comparison, with a position control system the lever moves within a graduated quadrant. For example, if the lever is at 1 with the hitch down and at 10 with the hitch up, placing the lever at 5 would hold the hitch halfway. The hitch position moves to match the corresponding lever position.

You are correct that lack of position control makes precise control more difficult. It is hard to raise and lower the implement in small, controlled amounts. Blading is one of the jobs that position control is really missed, but it is possible to do without it.

I forgot to add to that post I am well aware of the bottle design flaw, and I am sure it did not cause the leaks I see, although all have had oil mess from that bottle. I am talking about drips of oil hanging off front and rear transfer output, being slung 360 degrees by shaft. Oil running out of the power steering shaft where it meets the engine, a constant supply coming from the oil pan, not just some spillage from oil changes. Another of the trucks I looked at had tranny line leaks and when I got to the dealer, they already had it on the lift to fix them. this was not a dodge dealer, VW and it was the managers personal vehicle. A/c also dumped and they found the evaporator in the cab had gone bad. That made number 2 with bad A/c when I got to the dealer. I had and 89 and a 93 cummins no problems, dad has a 97, only the most minor of problems. I just wonder if I am looking for the holy grail, wife is tired of going on goose chases and I am now worrying about new, maybe I should just settle for a tweener truck. tween now and when Toyota makes a diesel fullsize. I am getting close to just saying the heck with it I don't need a $20-34,000 problem. Ford all but out, chevy isn't even in the ball game.

I was told the Massey does not have a float position on the 3pt hitch. Would this be a pain for box blading, tilling, or running a posthole digger?

Understandable and probably a wise decision. You can do the build your own thing on the Deere website and knock off about 15% of the MSRP price they show for the typical good sale price. 20% is not the unheard of but that will require some hard bargaining. Models and equipment that do not move well or are aged inventory can be discounted as much as 25% but this is not the norm. Implements they will knock off about 10 to 15%

The Bridgestone Revo Duelers have gotten pretty good comments over on some of the Dodge/Cummins boards as a good all around tire.. I will need tires for my truck before winter, and they are what im going with.. I am going to keep the same 265/75/16 size in an E load range..
