What is the maximun diatance the 3 point hitch lower arms show be on the BX2230. My was set at about 18"-20".<br>

I have a drawbar from the dealer that is about 22", but I saw where Cat 1 spread for the lower arm is 26". <br>

Is the 26" for a true Cat 1 hitch and the BX2230 is consider a Sub Cat 1 ??? Maybe 20" or something??<br>

My local dealer knows I am in the market for a tractor and he e-mailed me just the other day with info on a tractor he just took in on trade. I went to see the tractor today and really want to know everyone's opinion on this as I don't want to miss out on this if it is a good deal.<br>

Tractor Vitals: 2003 TC40D - 138hrs - Hydro trans. - NH Loader - NH Backhoe - 4 wheel weights - balance of warranty - looks new with the exception of a crack in the hood where a round fence post rolled off loader and hit hood. The tractor was owned by a doctor who had horses and looks like it was lightly used.<br>

The asking price on the tractor is $22,000. Does this sound like a fair price? I was thinking about trying to get him to throw in the mid-pto (parts and installation) and/or a rear remote into that price. Any thoughts on that?<br>

I really appreciate any help you guys can give me as I am wanting to make a decision quickly so I don't miss it.<br>

Today I bought a mid '80s L2850 D 4 wheel drive tractor with a BF500 loader. It shows 560 hours but I don't trust that. It is in good shape but looks well used. I drove the tractor for about an hour and found nothing wrong except an oil leak I couldn't pin down. It also came with a NH 60" sickle bar mower, a 72" Landpride backblade, a landpride fertilizer spreader, a 60" rotary cutter, and a Kuhn 48" rototiller that can't have more than 2 hours on it. The other implements are well used but all in working order. I paid $10,500 cash. I can use all of the implements on my small farm. What do you think?

I agree with Peters. You can't go wrong with 1/2" ply. sheathing. Any R value lost is more than made up by added structural strength (if attached correctly). I will admit that sometimes I will use OSB as wall fill with plywood on the corners, but I also like to cut in diagonal bracing on exterior walls even with solid sheathing.

I know what your saying,but, as a business owner/operator since the early 70's,and still haveing rentals,I can tell you that as a new or small business,the gov. will only allow you to declare a loss for 2 consecutive years without scrutiny.If you already have other forms of business endevors,they WILL look at what your doing.Some times your better off to just do it and not get greedy.

I picked up my Woods GTC 52 Tiller yesterday. So last night I had to trim the PTO Shaft. Despite the nervous sweat in my eyes, all went well.

I wound up cutting 2 inches off each piece. I could have cut more but saw no need to do that in case I move to another tractor some day.

I used my sawsall to trim the ends, then filed them clean. It worked perfectly.

The comments made here help as much or more than the Woods Manual.

Sounds to me like about 20 hp should do you fine...a little more if you want plenty of power and weight for a backhoe. If you could find a 4110 or 4115 new or slightly used, it will be a fine machine for you. The medium frame tractors have a few more comfort features but would be overkill for your purposes. Hydro with a FEL is a must in my book and either a 54" or 60" deck will be fine. I would suggest a 60" because it is easier to trim with since it sticks out past the tires farther. Enjoy!

There was on a news program some years ago an amateur video shown, taken by a nervous person watching his neighbour cutting down a big oak in his garden. The nervous one had by words forbidden his neighbour taking down the tree, as his garage was right beside it, on the other side of the fence.

Still the neighbour had arranged with a mobile crane of several ten tons, tied the tree to it. The camera shows the tree as the chainsaw yells and the cracking beginns. Then the picture is pointing hazardous around as the cameraman runs away and a crasch can be heard.

A bit distance away the camera turns to the scene. The tree lies over the garage on the nervous persons all lawn and the crane lies on side, showing its chassi to the world with the boom all over the place...

Sometimes there is just not enough heaviness. How a professional crane operator can make such an error, I do not understand. Big tree full of leaf!

So I am as everyone here glad you got away with it. As an amateur I have also taken down a few trees and I do have LARGE respect for heaviness, momentum and forces connected to such work.
