All the KK tiller guys, I picked up the TG-60 the other week from TSC. I have not used it in the dirt yet but turned the PTO on and before I got it up to speed, had to disengaged the PTO. It seemed to vibrate the tractor excessively. I was doing other things with the tractor so I didn't pursue the problem at the time. I was barely, if at all, at 2000 rpm. The tiller is supposed to run at 540 PTO rpm and I think that is somewhere around 2500 rpm on a TC33 New Holland. Anyone else have the similar vibration? Is it normal?

The manual states to bring the tiller up to speed in the air, and then lower it as you move forward.

A number of states in the South East are encouraging planting chufa, North Carolina and Tennessee being a couple. Chufa is an annual and must be replanted each season.

Whatever you choose, go hydro. Whether mowing, plowing, landscaping, grading,...whatever it is you're doing, a hydro will be good. No clutch, just push down to go as fast or slow as you want. I have had both...hydro is the biggest time saver you can buy...I would rather have a 54" deck with hydro than a 72" deck manual. (I mow 4 acres.) It is much more difficult to move things only an inch or two with manual. Drive the tractors, talk to the reps, talk to others who have bought locally. Most of all, enjoy your purchase but don't rush into anything...a couple extra weeks could save several years of wishing.

I am currently looking into purchasing a new BX23 tractor. The current dealer's price is $16,900. That is before attachments. Of which I'll get the 60" mowing deck and possibly the rear snowblower.<br>

I want to make sure I'm not getting hosed by them. Can anyone provide any insight to dealer cost or their own personal pricing?<br>

use it behind a jd 790 I dont have the 3 pt lifting clearence problem and have no problem lifting at full height to sharpen blades or to clean the deck.<br>
plenty of grease fittings that are very accessable and the belts are easy to tighten.<br>
the only thing I did was goto pneumatic tires and dropped the pressure to keep the bouncing under control at speed<br>

I have recently had very poor service from my local dealer and I am reluctant to support them. Is there another avenue to purchase a seat, such as from the factory. I have looked at other dealer's sites as well as the Kubota site and can not find a part # for the model tractor.

Even though your tractor will handle one, there is no such thing as an inexpensive seven footer. Cheap maybe, inexpensive never. If you've got $1800 bucks, check out the IM-702 (from International Machinery Corporation). Their medium duty six foot IM-602 by contrast runs under $900 - about $1200 for the HD version.<br>

You might not here of any problems for years on the 5X03 tractors. There are built to last, and don't alot of electronics to screw things up. A very simple, and sturdy design that reminds me of an older style of tractor, but in a modern shell.

You'd should be ok with the LX6, or the equivelent Rhino. Both are good implements, but the price difference may not be what you think. The JD includes saftey chains, extras on the Rhino, and make sure you get the slip clutch.

I do not have one to measure but I am reasonably sure your are right. I have a john deere 65" tiller and the overall width is about 71".

I know just how you feel! I put out several saw tooth oaks, various other nut trees we got from the forestry dept. & extension service. They have already started to grow buds. The deer, turkey, and (unfortunately) the coyotes are out and about and some of these rascals are trying to dig a few up but I kept several in reserve for this reason.

I would check to be certain the valve seats have been untouched. Is this a NEW head assy.? If so, and you replace the valves with a new exhaust valve, the seat and valve angle must be compatible and as a good practice (required in my opinion) should be lapped in to ensure a good seat and seal. If the seats have been ground, this could be a problem as it could significantly lower the compression ration dependent upon how much material was removed.

As far as prices go, between oil prices and steel prices, the car hauler I bought 11-03 has gone up $500 in price.

I went to the gas station with the Camry the other day and dropped $45 bucks into the tank and it takes $55-60 bucks to fill the pick-up.

I guess it is all sort of in line though. When I was a kid I made 2 bucks an hour, I bought a brand new Datsun for $1800 and gas was 25 cents a gallon.

Now the car is 18 grand and gas is $2.50 and wages are 20 bucks.

The TC 48 & 55 have the same larger frame and use a larger loader. You would be going from a 1386 lb. lift at 19.7 height to 1830 lb. I believe the 48 does not come in hydro however the 55 does. Wheelbase goes from 73.5" to 74.8". The tires get bigger, etc. That is a pretty good size tractor. You're getting into a pretty nice sized toy with lots of green. What are you planning to do with it?

brokenarrow, your point is well taken. You're right, but Im really at my financial limit with the barn at its current size plus the tractor i've bought to put inside. I do have a 12x18 covered-bay in addition to the barn itself. This is where I plan to store the implements. There really is not much room to manuver in the barn b/c of the middle posts... unfortunately, its not going to be clear-span (again.. too much $$). Thanks for the input.
