Does anyone know if the TC 48 and TC 55 are a bigger chasis then the TC 35, 40 or 45...is it worth it to bump up to the TC 48?

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone recommend a fertilizer be added during transplant. I've heard all kinds of suggestions from the people around here. We have mostly sandy soil, with some loam.

I always use my rear blade or box blade for rear ballast. If more is needed, I prefer wheel weights. I would only suggest using loaded tires if you were doing loader work close to 100% or if you have a BH that is frequently used.

It would be up to you to decide if the wheel weights stay on or off when mowing. If you are looking for a nice lawn, with little damage, the weights should probably be removed.

Good machine for welding up to 1/4" steel, can weld up to 3/8" with some pre-heat and some practice. I believe that machine can run MiG or FCAW wire. You may want to start with the FC wire to get a little practice before using solid. If you can start making decent welds with the FC wire, you will be happy with what you get when you start running MiG.

I have a TC24 with a 4' cutter. It seems to lug a little bit in real heavy grass and weeds but will do the job. I would not recommend the 5' cutter unless you are only cutting fairly light grass.

The cooling system is a thermo-siphon sytem. On mine I had to take the radiator off and give it a good cleaning both inside and out. Also make sure your running 70-30 water/antifreeze.

What weight of oil are you running? For warmer weather I think the manual calls for a straight 30W.

Thanks for the input. I take my l 3400HST In next Monday for the recall work on the PTO and to have the BH 75 hoe installed. Are the buckets for the hoe interchangeable with other brands or do you have to stick with Kubota?

I'd recommend going to machinerylink dot com. Click on the tools and resources tab, then used tractor price guide and follow the prompts. Their prices tend to be dealer asking prices and private party sales are usually a bit lower.

$1000 more for steel? That makes no sense to me.
I was paying about $0.38/lb for A-36 structural steel
before the big run-up in steel prices. If steel has gone
to $0.60/lb or even $1/lb, you would be looking at a TOTAL
steel cost for a 7 1/2' backhoe of less than $1000.

I have the TC30, and it works great for me. I also have 10 acres, and it does exactly what I need. I have FWD and the front end loader, and it works great. I would also recomend going with the 9 x 3 trans. to save some money. One of the main reasons that I got the TC30 was because it is so easy to work on. But as said earlier, one of the most important things to think of is service from your dealer. Get to know them, and ask all the questions that you can think of.

Very good suggestion, Denwood. Never occurred to me. Cutting the wedge (some logger-types around here call it the "bait") that way will probably be easier on my back and arms, too.

BrendonN, the Farmi winches look top-notch, but probably too much for my needs and budget.

StephenR: Believe me, I was on the edge of my seat, too. Talk about pucker-factor!

Ive had my B3030 for 2 weeks. Nice tractor worth the wait! My dealer ordered 5 B3030's last fall. Mine was considered retail sale. This might have had something to do with the early delivery.

My real problem came with the garage being on a slope (side slope). With 3-4 feet of snow in some years, the melting and runnoff needed to be addressed.
MacDaddy, you sure that 24x36 is large enough for you? I found out that I really need about 36x36 to be able to comfortably turn and move impliments in the garage with the tractor and fel attatched. Mine is 28x34 and I knew I should of gone WIDER but at the time the tractor was not in my plans. If I was to do it again (which I may sooner than later) I will not build less than 36x36. I know funds are always a top priority. Much cheaper to wait a year and build larger that to not build big enough (man I wish I would of practiced what I am preaching LOL)

I believe the steel guards are the cheap way to cover lliability issues. In really thick grass, they can keep too much in and cause bogging. If you do any rough mowing and back up, they bend way to easily. Chains are nice, but if safety is not a realistic issue for your intended use, you can always run the way mowers used to came, with nothing. I use nothing since it came that way, and I back up a lot over all trees I can force the mower over. I also do not mow near any people or roads.

I'm looking to buy a Frontier Tiller Model RT1150 for use on my JD 2210. The data on the JD web page says the unit is 62" wide (outside to outside). Data on the RT1250 says that unit is only 54". They are both 49" tillers. One of the "outside" measurements is wrong.<br>

I bought on ebay, a "new in box" head assembly for my 755.<br>
It seemed reasonably priced for a "just in case" future need, I figured I could resell if I never needed it. Here's the rub, upon inspection, it appears in fact new, but apparently assembled wrong, with an extra larger intake valve placed in an exhaust position. That is to say all valve seats are proper and correct, someone just stuck the wrong valve in one hole. The question is, can I just buy a new exhaust valve and install, or does it need to be "fitted" or "lapped" to the seat. (Clearly no fitting was attempted in the existing situation)<br>
