Looking at the spring of 2005 steel has gone up beyond most peoples belief. In some cases where we use it has gone up more than 50% from 2 years ago.

I just bought 300 crusher anvils for the plant at $120 + freight. 2003 they were $85. I think these (2005) are comming from Africa.

So be cautious when some one says I only paid XXXX a year ago.

There does not appear to be much relief insight.

Art may be able to share how much inflation has impacted the grades of steel in these attachments.

Just received my 3430 with 509. Didn't get manual for the backhoe. Any suggestions for removing bh? This is my first "modern" tractor. Traded in my 8n and HATED to watch her go.

Thanks for the great memory jog, cthonestguy.

We (my wife and I) had a absolute bonehead (and I am being kind) of a neighbor in about 5-6 years ago (when still in Australia). This moron's wife got a load of horse manure dumped on their driveway. They then proceeded to spread it around their yard. The one problem was that thier yard was terraced a level above ours. Quite a bit of that horse manure wound up in our yard, and especially close to fence area close to them. Even two years ago, and prior to moving back, I was still picking weeds out along the fence area.

I will keep in mind the weed problem with the "organic matter". Thanks!

My dad used to tell me that concrete could be too wet. Somewhere in the past, and after working with him on stuff, I knew that the dryer that it was and remain workable, then the better it was; one never wanted it too wet. Only now do I understand on how to test it. Thanks!

There isn't a repair manual for the YM2200. The closest would be the YM240. If that is the book you received, use the YM240 specs. If you still need the specs or the correct book , let me know.

You probably did already but any more than 2 turns of the torsion bar nut and you need a front end alignment. Don't wear out those new sneakers too soon.

Yooberpete, you know as a female I can't let you get away with saying that without saying something. <g>

The only reason women get into trouble is because they haven't had people show them ("women don't need to know that stuff") or because every guy around them says "you can't do it!!!" and the woman becomes a nervous wreck.

I operate my FEL and BH confidently, but every time I try to ask a guy for a tip, he dismisses me. So, I just had to teach myself. And yes, women can have a "pucker" sensor, too.

The difference between the 710 and the 720 is the size the 710 is a Little smaller designed for smaller tractors 45- about 60 hp. The 720 is made for about 55 to 90 horsepower

I agree, somethings like welding to widening a rim should be left to professionals or those that are fully capable. I have a welder at home and never even use it. Our shop has all sorts of welders, fabricators and machinists. I can get anything made! These jobs are rated in 6 packs, 12 packs and 30 packs or multiples thereof.

In the case of what I originally was looking for, is if anyone knew if the rims from a larger JD fit a smaller JD.

I have a JD4600 with 285 hours on it, purchased 1999. It is a powr/reverser with creeper gears. It is used for cutting 13 acres. It is in excellent shape and I can forward pics if need be. I am looking to sell it for 15,000 and wanted to get feedback from the forum. I also have a Landpride FDR2584 rear grooming mower and Landpride RB2596 rear blade. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Fram.com provides a cross reference for you on filters. Gators, Exmark and some compact JD tractors can use Fram oil filters from Wally World.

Yooperpete, I would definitely suggest the Grand Canyon. I have been to Sedona and Phoenix and in my opinion the best of Arizona is the canyon. Get on the national park web site and locate lodging in the park. My wife and I visited the canyon in late January, no crowds.

Las Vegas is only 4 -5 hours from the canyon and from there you can be in Death Valley in about 2 hours. Death Valley is a nice place to visit, but not in the summer. Due to the rain this year there's a lot of wild flowers in bloom. We stayed at Furnace Creek.

If you are going to visit more than a couple of national parks, purchase an annual pass for $50.

Also, there is wonderful scenery in southern Utah. Have fun. Dave

It depends on your area, avaiability... But not knowing your and your dealer location???? Also now is the time to buy snowblowers. Fall is the time to dicker on BH's.

But me thinks if you feel you made a good deal DO NOT go out and try and second guess yourself by asking others. Most will tell you what smokin deals you could have got...

I know a couple of people if you told them you smoked the dealer and only paid $1000 for the above because it had fallen of a truck and damaged the paint. These 2 would tell you about the dealer who offered them $500 to take it off their lot.

I think as long as you keep it as a matched unit you will have much more value down the road.

There's a further update to this thread. An email response was received about the tiller's PTO driveline stating the following:

"Vender recommendations and industry standard is 1/3 PTO profile overlap. At maximum extinction (the furthest the drive line will extend while in use) you should have 1/3 of the shafts overlapped. Any equipment that is to use a QH15 will need approximately 4 1/2" more length than for a standard set up. I feel that you may need to get a new driveline or profiles if your unit has been shortened for that sub-compact and you are adding a quick hitch."

So, there we are. Somehow, I still will feel better knowing there is more than adequate overlap in the PTO driveline.

I am looking to buy a 2005 TC35DA w/16la loader. I have a price of $20,900 with the quick attach loader feature. Is that a good deal? I also plan to pay extra for ballast ($350) in the rear tires and a grill guard ($200). Am I missing anything? I am also looking at a Woods Heritage finish mower, 72 inches for $1650. This is for mowing about 4 acres w/ no trees and a lot of dirt work.
