I began driving '79. I remember all too well the gas shortages and the thought that I wasn't going to drive, my lifelong passion at the time. I always try to get the most efficient vehicle to do the job.
One thing about buying another vehicle is just not the cost of the vehicle but, insurance, maintenance, and here in Pennsylvania, $60 for inspection each year. But if you're only getting 12mpg, you can make that up pretty quick.

Does anyone know of a source other than JDParts for filters and such? It would be nice to be able to order oil and hydraulic filters from somewhere else because with JDParts they ship to the dealer and you still have to go there (not convienient for me). Or does anyone know where you can cross reference part numbers to find a standard filter from an autoparts store that will match the JD filter?

From the description, it's not clear what moved and what didn't. But it sounds like you have new locations for the suspension arms. You did not mention anything regarding the shocks. If the frame mounting point for the shocks stayed the same but the control arms were lowered by 2", then you are probably hitting max shock extension.

Easy test: measure the shock length (either eye to eye or the exposed shaft length. The jack up the truck and measure again. If the difference isn't much then you are hitting the max extension of the shock.

I don't really know if that is a fair value, but I can tell you that you will always get more money if you sell the tractor on your own. Dealers want to profit from the trade just as they would a new piece of machinery. Try the local papers, or ebay.

Went round and round (NH TC30, Branson, JD 790, etc..), am settling on a L3400, FEL, Box Scraper, reinforced loader bucket w/ chain hooks for 15,400. Am also getting the backhoe for $6400. Fair price? <br>

I've got the 5 foot Woods finish mower by JD. has 4 wheels, does not scalp and does a great job on all surfaces rough or smooth.

1*The new Legacy XL is a lot closer to the BX and the 2210 than most peaple think.
They may lack some experience in the Utility tractor market, but it is worth noting that Simplicity and Agco are cousins.
2* Simplicity can draw a lot of experience from that relationship.
*The fit-finish and overall quality was every bit as good as the the Kubotas I've had, and that says a lot in my book since I really like the Botas
3* Simplicty has always made good equipment,.

1*The Legacy XL is a lawn and garden tractor as Simplicty plainly states in their brochure on the Legacy XL.
The BX Kubotas are Sub Cuts.
You can't compare a lawn and garden tractor with a sub cut because that's an apple to oranges comparison.
2*But it still don't make a sub compact, compact or utility tractor out of a lawn and garden tractor.
*Even so that don't make the Legacy XL garden tractor a sub cut or cut tractor.
3*I agree they do, but a good garden tractor does not equate to the same class of tractor as Sub compact and compact.

Which to buy BX2200 Deer 2210 Simplicity XL - they re all about 15k

Stay away from the models with the vertical shaft engines and the pump mounted under them. It is a real PITA to adjust your flow with the valves mounted under the machine.

I say slightly because not all machines present the noise. And some like yours appears after a few hours.

I didn't catch the part about only having a 1/2 acre of finish mowing. You're right, a simple rider (or walk behind for that matter) would be a good alternative to the MMM and probably produce a better quality of cut, although a bit slower. The biggest advantages of the 7510 are ground clearance and a full Cat.1 hitch. Traction will be better with the larger tires and being slightly heavier, but engine power is almost the same. Try them both and see which one you like better. If the 7510 will fit into the spaces you need it to go and the extra cost isn't an issue, then I'd go that route.

On the JD you have a 2 position dump circuit. If you move it just a little to the right it dumps slow, if you move it to the extreme right it dumps fast.

It is the inbetween where you get your hesitation.

Well its back in the shop again. The front drive shaft was knocking and about to fall out. I call Kubota in Calif. and talk to one of the head guys there. They told me they would look in replacing or refunding me. I told him about my trip and how I was unsure about taking it with me. He said he would give me an answer in a few days. All I can do is wait. If its not one things its another. They are quick to take your money, but slow to refund it.

I just ordered a new 300cx loader with a HD bucket (in place of the standard bucket)for $3500 if I install it...add $100 if I would choose to have them install it. The initial price given for a 430 loader in this thread is too high...especially since the retail price is about $50 cheaper than the 300cx and it is an old model that they want to clear out.
