Yeah they're asking an arm and a leg for the simplicity. They're banking on their 20 year rep. This is the only compact tractor model, so I'm a bit sceptacle of the design. But it drives nice, almost too nice for what I want to do with it.

something on the line of a pulveriser would be in order over a tiller. You should only need the top 3-4 inches in good working condition for pasture grass. The best advice I can give is to take your time, dont rush and jump the gun on your prep work. Take the time to prepair this area and you will benifit for a long time instead of fighting the outcome of rushing to plant.

Denwood, there are hydraulic disconnects everywhere. The third SCV lines for the grapple are mounted on the inside of the right loader arm with disconnects that connect to the grapple. Swapping between bucket and grapple is no problem. I've never had the loader off, but there is a big row of disconnects right below the right loader mount that the loader hoses connect to.

The last one that I checked on had 230 hours on it, and with a FEL and canopy, it was 13,700. Does this sound like a decent deal? Is the 3130 a pretty good machine? I have read a few post of the opinion that it is underpowered, but I do not know. Once before, they had one with 120 hours on it, and it was 15,700 with FEL. The salesman said that the price is based more on how long the lessor has had the machine, more than the hours. The more months they are leased, the lower the selling price. This nursery leases tractors ever year, all 3130's.

Hardwood, why do you suppose it is either or with the PB and the 3 point hitch. I was under the impression JD wants you to dump the return from the backhoe before entering the rockshaft valve so you don't accidentally operate the 3 point when it is unable to move and likely to cause damage. If you plumbed the PB to a remote valve that has power beyond port and then ran the return from the remote valve into the regular return to the rockshaft valve, you can have both at the same time.

If you have to VPN or play multiplayer games satellite service isn't a good option either. Some VPN clients are better than others but the slow latency on sat links causes problems with those applications.

For lots of us there are no other options. My dial-up speed on a good day is a whopping 21.6 kbs. We're on a shared microwave link with dozens of others and it will be years before we get cable or DSL (if ever).

I have built several Garage/shop/pole barns and have a few ideas:
1. Build as big as you can afford - you'll use it all
2. Woodworking and Mechanical work does not belong in same building - sawdust where you dont want it and grease where you dont want it
Trusses are cheaper than stick built and provide great spans without center posts
3. An "L" shape building with a drive thru bay for tractor with implement attached is a real nice feature
4. You cant have too much light or too many outlets - my outlets are four feet apart and 4 feet off the floor - all around
5 Implement and tractor barns dont need concrete floors unless you like sweeping
6 A long central (towards the front) retractable air hose works well. You can always attach an extention. Water collection drains and pressure regulators need to be at each drop if you plumb air lines.
7. Collector vehicles deserve their special spot in a clean garage - not a work shop.

I was about 12 or so and spent a couple of weeks with the sis and b-in-l on the farm. I got to do some horse pasture brush hogging with what I thought at the time was the hugest tractor in the world (JD 4020 I think it was).

The thing I most remember was that the shifter on the right side of the steering wheel had the most complicated pattern I've ever seen. When I was done hogging it took me 5 minutes to get the shifter into "park" from the working gear. I thought it was really cool to have a gas pedal and a throttle lever! Also was my first diesel experience.

Depending on the loader model I'd be leary as to using it for any heavy duty lifting or digging. The 8-n is a bit lighter then the newer tractor and didn't have as much oil capacity unless it is a front pump system.

Hey, I'm interested to add rear SCV for ,say, 3pt hydraulic top & tilt cylinders. Would JD offer this option as a add-on DIY kit? Any idea what would be a fair price for this rear SCV kit? I'm interested to use a diverter valve and loader joy sticks to control the rear SCV functions.<br>

I read somewhere that the only way to get this apart is from the top. Remove fenders/floor and take it apart from there.

HI Guys, I currently have a Kubota L35 and I may have to give it to my business partner. I was looking at the DK40 with FEL and 8.5' BH. My local dealer is quoting me $24.7K. Is this a decent price and does this tractor compare to the L35?

Yes, the 82 was quite comfy, we drove it all over the country.

Later on we bought a Subaru Justy and that was ridicules.

I felt like I could punch holes in the floor and just walk around with it.

I am still looking for a nice used Brat from that era....
