Harvey there is no fun in it period! I have it done nearly yearly from both ends do the problem I have with food. Used to eat everything and anything and now it comes back to haunt me. It has been painless as I have been out for them but it isn't my idea of a fun time at all and I do believe you are getting a great price! To bad it's not an extra to life's pleasures for that money instead of just something that might help you live long enough to find them.

jrestill, I now realize that I don't have the quick attach that skid steer's use, but rather JD's own version of a quich attach bucket. I can see that the Borgford looks like the Cadillac of grapples, but it is a little pricey. I may contact them and see if they manufacture a version that fits the JD quick attach system, and thus eliminate having to buy an adapter. Thanks for the info.

denwood, I've been through many hurricanes and tornados, but Ivan was by far the worst around here. I am nearly a hundred miles inland, but we had 100-130 mph sustained winds with "bands" of even higher winds. Lasted about eight hours. Snapped big trees like toothpicks. Anyway, with my limited free time and stubborn do-it-yourself attitude, I am still not finished cleaning up six months after. Good point about the cutter getting in the way. I thought I should leave it on for ballast when I first got the tractor (my first) but quickly realized I was gonna bash it into a tree, so I now keep it off unless I need to use it. Yes, I have already started swatting the mosquitos. Comes with the territory. BTW, nice job on the fork/grapple fabrication.

I just read your post (the long one) I commend you on your english, that must of been hard to complete. Good job! I think your 55" of width is a problem. The tasks you are asking from the machine will require a larger framed machine than 55" wide.

Dave, my 6 acres of land is fairly flat and sure hope this tractor works for me. I purchased this tractor mainly for taking care of 1500ft of road frontage and maintaining my gravel driveway. I really got shafted from the contractor that cleared my land and built my house. He left me with a big ole mess. Tons of dirt and piles and piles of wood surround my house. Would have been nice to locate a good 4wd fel, however, good tractors in my area are rare. I've been looking for a good used tractor for several months and have found most to be either overpriced or wore out. Would have been nice to be able to purchase a new tractor, however, my budget didn't allow for one. I looked at some of the major brand tractors and found most 4wd,30hp's priced around 12000, add another 3000 for fel. Oh well, a man has to know his limitations of his tractor, lol. I suppose I should listen to my wife and just go out and rent a 555 and finish up this mess.

Bear with me greg. LOL I will be digging into it tomarroo morning so I will need all the help I can get. Dug out the trailer today and hauled it into the garage.
Last year I had the volt meter on the pins and id not have any stray voltage when no power was on. I turned on each one seperately so I could positively identify which pin was which. (that much I remember) Also. The last trip I took with it (when I had the problems) I pulled over on the highwy when I realized I had NO running lights.
I went back to the triler connector (thinking it may of came un hooked) I wiggled and pushed the connector together firmly. The lights came back on and I thought I was cool. I made it about anouther 15-20 min and realized the lights went out again. This time I stopped and could NOT get them to go back on. Pulled into a gass station ans found that I blew the fuse. I switched fuses (a spare and blew it right away (imediately) I switched to the last spare (that size) and same thing happened. I did "not" want to put a larger one in incase I had something big time wrong going on. Waited till light came and ran the rest of the 300 mile trip with out running lights. The trip home I hooked up two spare lights I had at the other house with a jumper line to the accesorary (cig lighter) hook up. That is where it stands now. Like I said I checked out the truck as good as I am able (I am no electronic wiz but can hold my own sometimes) If I hook a light to the running light on the truck thru the trailer hook up seperately that uses the same voltage as the trailer lights. And if it does not blow would that say that it is in the trailer wireing and not the trucks trailer package? Still open for ANY help. I will be about 4 hours away (after I start tomaroo) from buying a new trailer wireing and light package. I really dont want to go that route and end up NOT being in the trailer wires.

Good idea. I do see a flaw in your logic. Although tractors do not use gas, they do use diesel. Even hybrid cars depend on petroleum products (gas, just less of it) to go.

The only way to get out from under Opec's thumb is to find a way to survive without buying much from them. Buy from south america or drill domestically. Explore nuclear, solar, and wind power to make to more efficient.

Most importantly the Bush family needs to go against their oil-wealth roots and take a long-term stand on energy usage. Take funding research of alternative power (like solar) seriously. Start giving REAL tax incentives to those who conserve energy and/or get energy without using oil products. Ignore the powerful plastic lobby and push for more bio-plastics. Look into methanol and other renewable resources for heating and vehicles.

And this may sound totally counter intuitive, but RAISE the price of on-the-road fuels. If gas cost $4.50 a gallon like it does in Europe, suddenly carpooling, transit, and gasmileage would be "cool". (My only worry is if the goverment adds a $2/gal gas tax, you know they're going to pee the money away)

psimonson, there are several 2210 owners that are interested in backhoes. We all have been following posts on TBN about the first Woods unit, as well as pics taken by another poster at the Ft. Wayne tractor show. Your homemade unit appears to be a quick-change one, are you willing to share any info with those that are leary of a subframe unit that isn't easy to change over?<br>

I like the shipping container approach. If it's long enough you could put a workshop in there too. That, and car alarm or even a motorcycle alarm. Just be sure it has its own battery that cannot be disconnected easily. Some of the newer technology uses a cellphone to call you and the police if there is an intruder. But they cost as much as a good insurance policy. Around here the first thing an insurance agent asks is: "Is the area fenced in? No fence = higher premium.

I see you've already begun doing your homework on Chinese tractors, so I thought I'd just give you a little heads up in case you were tempted by that belly mower. It's got no gauge wheels and no nose roller. And last I checked, you will NOT be able to retrofit them (through Rural King) either. Their buyer was more concerned with the profit line than he was about selling a mower that doesn't scalp. Leveling it is tricky too. it's supported by the TPH in the rear, so rear height and right/left leveling is pretty straightforward - as long as your hydraulics don't leak. Front height and leveling is coarse though; Chain links and keys. Adjusting the chains is not an easy one man job - without a floor jack.

A relative of mine used to use a three gang mower on his "Super Size" lawn. His yard allways looked like the White House lawn, but even he with his patience of a saint he finally grew tired of all the maintinence and now uses a MMM. Frank.

Reminds me of a local who just for fun built an 8N with 5 in-line transmissions. He takes it around to tractor shows. It has a V8 Chevy(?). He has a tape measure secured around the front tire that shows how far it travels in one day--somewhere around a few feet in a day at idle.

Then there's a gigantic 4 cyl. diesel engine from a power station in the Upper Penn. of Michigan a guy has on a 40' drop deck trailer. It's flywheel is 12' across, each cylinder is about 4-feet in diameter. Has no mufflers and puts out 140 hp.

Cappy TX. If you service your own pickup then you have the skills to take care of your tractor. Normaly only basic hand tools and you owners manual will get you thru it fine. Far as hooking up three pt. equipment alone, having a quick coupler on the three pt. is a real big help. Deere calls theirs the I Match System, but there are many other brands to chose from. Being on a level surface is a real big help too, even with a quick coupler. I started out without a quick coupler, but even the small equipment can get to be a real pain to jiggle around till the pins line up. Best of luck. Frank.

He opened this thread addressing disappointment with a CTC loader for what would seem to be a YM1500. If you took the time to check my profile, you'd see that I'm a former Yanmar owner too. But you and some of the other posters decided to ignore his question and start comparing loader experiences COMPLETELY out of that tractor class and loader capability. <br>

If you'd also have taken the time to look at the CTC website (http://www.compacttractorconnection.com/loader_frame.htm) you'd maybe have seen MADE IN USA. If you've got a problem with Chinese tractors, this is the wrong venue.<br>

We had the exact same thing no water in oil but rad was a mess.

Was a blow head gasket and a cracked head.

Heads are cheap and gasket kits are nothin.

Thanks Art. Here is what I can tell about the tractor. It is basically new. It is GST model (I guess that is the transmission type), quick detactable front bucket, canopy. I don't know of any other options available or what else it has. It doesn't have an auxillary control for FEL for 4 in 1 bucket. I would probably want to add this option later if necessary. Thanks again. He is pretty firm on his price.

On a similar but opposite vein, around here things have gotten out of control with survivors of specifically automoblie accidents who feel compelled to put up crosses, signs, wreaths, or stuffed animals--or all of them. It got so bad other motorists were getting into or causing more crashes to stop or slow and look. Now some communities consider it littering of public land (I strongly agree). If they had to have it up leave it for a week at the most and take it down, but they don't. They leave it and the county grass cutters mow them down and it makes a big mess. Call me old-fashioned, but that's what cemetaries are for.

Yep, I got the enclosed cab and heat (last year I just ran the heater blower and an extra, small fan--that was good enough for me--$3200 for air cond. is way out of my budget--plus is sucks the power out of the engine--on a car it can be as much as 25hp). The dealer threw in the remote battery jumping posts and winter heater for the hydraulics and engine ($500-700 he says worth). New Holland kicked in almost $5G, and the dealer didn't give me A-plan like last time (new owners) but took about $2500 off list. Dealer gave me $19,180 and I owed $15,000. Payments will be about $85 more to $505 for 60 months and nothing down and payoff old machine included. Also got the hydraulic quick-tach plate which makes my aching back feel betta already! LOL. My brother-in-law works at the Wayne. MI Ford Truck Assembly plant so I know what you're saying about little perks. I bought a set of light-weight over the tire steel tracks and tried them out on my current LS180 and was astounded (dealer said "go ahead and use it--not worried about racking up hours until new comes in--just don't break it", he says--so what does my buddy do? he lifts a frozen block of compost half the size of the bucket, it rolls back over the bucket and pushes the cab window out--lucky for him he didn't break it--DOH!!). Anywho...we could drive over wet, soggy grass that I couldn't even walk on without sinking. In 12" of sticky mud the machine would still go. The only limiting force was the HP wasn't there to travel and push a big load. Can't wait to get the new 185.b as it has about 12hp more. The new rubber tracks LT185.B units are nice but I'm happy with this set up. Rubber track isn't always the way to go, especially with what I do concrete removal, demolition, etc.
