Well, I bought a 790 and took delivery the end of Febuary to get the JD incentives on that model. Bought the basic diesel 4WD with FEL, LX5 mower and a Frontier box blade. I've got 25 hours on it so far and am getting fairly proficient in dirt moving and grading work. I'll be ready for maintenece pretty soon and wondered how much of it the average JD owners do themself.
Also, are their any tips for how to best switch from a box blade to mounting the LX5 by myself. Most of the time I'm without any assistance and it was quite a chore to get properly aligned and attached the first time I tried it.

Cappy TX. If you service your own pickup then you have the skills to take care of your tractor. Normaly only basic hand tools and you owners manual will get you thru it fine. Far as hooking up three pt. equipment alone, having a quick coupler on the three pt. is a real big help. Deere calls theirs the I Match System, but there are many other brands to chose from. Being on a level surface is a real big help too, even with a quick coupler. I started out without a quick coupler, but even the small equipment can get to be a real pain to jiggle around till the pins line up. Best of luck. Frank. ....
