Scott, it seems that any amount of laod you are applying will correct the problem so I'm still going back to the linkage. For the tech's they often raise the machine on stands and disconnect the linkage and see if it is the internals. The worst I've seen is the casing where the lever goes thru being dry and causing the problem.

I had been waiting for the KK tillers to go on sale and they have not budged yet. The price for a 60" KK tiller in WV is $1,220 and they are setting outside and don't look to be in the best of shape. I sent my dealer an e-mail and he quoted me a 60" Woods tiller for $1,295. I picked it up this past Saturday. Haven't got to try it out as the ground is either very soft or frozen.

Thanks for the info on the 7018 rods. At $5 a box maybe I ought to pick up a few more to practice with. I still have to get the electrician to hook up the 220 circuit for now.

Denwood: Would the fork set up work on 4110. I have a lot of log work that now I cut up small and pick up with bucket, If I had folks and clamp set it would make my life better.

A guy at work has one. It makes a huge difference for him getting in and out of the parking spots. I think it was about a $5000us option. The axle sure looked heavy duty also.

It's the crankcase breather hose. It vents the crankcase to the atmosphere. If you had coolant coming out of it...check your oil. Is it all gray-brown and foamy? If so, you have coolant in your oil. If your oil looks good, clean that hose off and keep an eye on it.

My BX22 spoiled me. My JD 46 hoe is not the same quality.

It does just what you describe, and I have narrowed the problem down to sloppy fitting joints.

It is considered animal cruelty to shoot cats (at least in my area). The biggest problem is telling the wild feral cats from the free roaming cats people say they "own" (even if "own" doesn't mean vaccinated, spaying, or responsible for). You shoot a pet cat you WILL be put up for felony cruelty charges if caught.... so be sure these are truly homeless ferals and not your neigbor's.

I agree, there are far too many of them and they're as big a problem as anything. I have one of these nice nextdoor neighbors who lets his cats breed and wander the neighborhood. I love cats, but I don't love these unvaccinated, unneutered monsters who crap on anything they please, shred bark of newly planted trees, and turn my birdfeeder into a catfeeder.

The hard part isn't getting rid of totally homeless feral cats, it's coping with the feral cats your neighbor "owns" because then they're legally considered "pets". And without a leash-law for cats, there's nothing I can do legally to make him be responsible for his animals. Naturally, I did politely explain the problem to said neighbor and ask for his help. He got mad at me saying his "barn cats" were doing me a favor keeping down mice. (Maybe the SERIOUS animal problem should be the humans?!)

I wonder how wrong it would be for me to catch them and drop them off at a shelter... three states away where he'd never find them. I can't kill them. It's not their fault their owner is an $%#$

Pretty much all of them have ind front now. There are several that do not have it in the rear. I've had all of them over the years, honda, yamaha, suzuki and now Polaris. I think the polaris has the ride of a new caddy compared to the rest. Now that I'm getting older and closer to 40 than 35, the nicer ride is a plus.

I prefer a straight rear axle over the independent rear because it doesn't "wash out" on you when making crazy banked turns over bumps. it seems to be more predictible. Also, go with an automatic. I never though I'd want an A/T on a quad but once you have one you will never want to shift again. Just be sure the machine you buy has a high and low range.

Quite honestly, they are all good these days. It's a matter of the options you want and price. I have a couple of 10 + year old ones that still run great. Stay away from the chinese knock off junk. They are as bad or worse than the chinese tractors for 1/2 the price of a real one.

You didn't mention the need for a backhoe. If you plan on mowing 85% of the time a bx23 might be a waste of money when you can buy a bx2230 much cheaper without the backhoe. Keep this in mind and you will save thousands of $$$$.

I just had to tell someone. I ordered my new L3430 HSTC today. With the tractor I also ordered a 723 Loader with a quickcoupler, bucket, 6 foot loader blade with power angle,rear remote hydrolics, 72 inch rear mower, block heater, solution in rear tires,rear cab work lights, and radio so I can listen to Merle Haggard and sing along. I just can't wait to take delivery.

great job on the forks I like the idea of the grapples for picking up logs. I will have to get started on mine, an old friend of repairs forklifts I will have to see if he has any old forks.

I currently own an old gear shift Kubota, but am looking to upgrade to a newer model compact. I ran accross this used but very nice Massey Ferguson 1225 today. Overall very good condition, 4WD, 60"MMM, PS, HSD, good tires and about 500 hours. The bracket for loader is already there, and the dealer said he could add the rest for a few thousand. I feel I can get this unit for $10K out the door including the loader and the existing 60"MMM. Only problem is I know very little about Massey, let alone the 1225. Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated.<br>

I am looking at a Kubota L4630 with a BH90 backhoe and LA853 FEL. The asking price is 28,000. Tractor has only 10 hours. Is this a good price for a new tractor? In eastern NC. Thanks Bill

I hate to sound like a broken record but the "poor man's grapple" I made for logging works really well. (see my pics 1,2,5,6 and 11. The two main gripes about using clamp on forks for logging, visibility and log stability, are taken care of nicely. You can easily see the log in the grapple as you're picking it up and it's clamped down as you move it (them) to the pile. One other issue with forks is that you have to slide the forks under the log. Fork height and angle have to be perfect every time and still some will tend to roll away and you'll end up chasing them. I can just open the grapple, slide the bottom arm along the ground and slightly push the log forward. This also straightens the log with respect to the grapple arms so you don't even have to approach at the perfect angle to clamp down with both arms. Unloading works well too. Just open the arms and the log falls down a few inches to the pile. With forks they will tend to roll off in any direction which will make a pile with less than good visual appeal (the trucker won't like it either).

I've recently finished cutting a second truckload of spruce pulpwood so I've piled upwards of 30 cords with this rig. The truck hauled it away this past Sunday. It works great for $200 in materials and two evenings of fabrication. Someone should really make these.

The problems with the New Holland TC33 tractors breaking is when a 3pt hoe is used. I have not yet heard of a TC 33 breaking with a sub frame mounted hoe. With the sub frame the stress is spread to three points on the tractor. 1 the rear axle housing 2 the bell housing and 3 the front bumper. With NH and rhino hoes you have a 2x4" square tubing as frame connectors and you would be hard pressed to bent those which is what would have to happen before the bell housing snapped.
