Hello: Beagle brought up an interesting point about warranties. I suspect that Kubota is governed by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (see link) that all manufactures must follow. Basically, the law prohibits manufactures from practicing "sales tie-in" provisions. That's why you can use a Fram filter on your new GM truck and not void the warranty. As I understand it, Kubota would have had to demonstrate to the FTC satisfaction that only their filters meet the specified standards. Maybe someone can set me straight.

Sand will not help your drainage at any rate that would be useful for you life. In order for sand to help drainage, it must be added at such a high concentration that each sand grain touches others and the remaining topsoil cannot fill all the voids created by the sand touching. This concentration is huge and not realistic. think of it as dropping marbles in a glass of water. Until there is not enough water to cover the marbles, no more pore space is created to aid drainage.

I was sure I was going to buy a b7800. Then my dealer started to introduce me to the l2800. Both will have loaders.<br>
He said (on a message) that they were about the same in price.<br>

I see that the L2800 is a little heavier. What else. I'll be using this around my 3 acre property and to landscape. Which means I'll be trailering and using it in peoples yards. Is the L2800 too big for this? I'll be speaking with the dealer tomorrow. <br>
I really was convinced the b7800 was the machine for me, and had heard nothing but good about them.<br>
Please advise.<br>

DK, your question about breakout. As you may know a skid loader lift capacity is rated at 1/2 of its tipping load. Who cares about lift capacity it is just some legal rating blah blah osha blah blah, we all use them to the tipping load, some beyond that like brokenarrow. Breakout is often even higher and if you add more counter weight, the amount you can actually get out of it for lifting is higher. So as for tractors, you just add more weight and you can now lift that load you couldn't before. In my reasons for buying a John Deere, it was one of the higher ranked reasons. I always want max lift for that one big rock, log, etc. in that specific size machine. Sure some guy could increase his hydraulic relief setting, but then you run higher risks of damage. I figure if the factory set it correctly, it should be able to handle it. Especially with all the liability manufacturers have.

I have a 4300 with R4 tires. It was terrible going in reverse. I put a set of 3/8" chains on the rear and now I can go anywhere. I have a 450' driveway that is a hill. I can even push snow going up hill! The rear chains made a big difference. Also, my tires are not loaded, this might also make a difference. Fred

The Woods product (GTC40)seems narrow at only 39" side to side vs. the Frontier (RT1150) at 49". Or should I be looking at the GTC52 which is 51" wide? It says it needs 20-30 HP and the 2210 is only 23 HP.

I'll need to check on Land Pride as well.

Does everyone make their own tillers or is the case of one manufacturer who makes various brands?

I'm currently looking at purchasing a used B2150 HST 4x4 and have a few questions.<br>
1. S/N is 55574 - What year?<br>
2. Backhoe is a model 4520. Can anyone provide information on this? Dig depth, lift capacity, etc...<br>
3. Is this the right backhoe for this tractor? It looks kind of small.<br>
4. Does this model have any particular problems I need to be aware of?<br>
5. What's a good price for it? It comes with a LA350 FEL, Backhoe BL 4520, 60" rear mount snow blower (Agrotrend 2yrs old), TSC 6" post hole digger, adn a 60" brush hog. Tractor has 2,400 hrs and looks to be in reasonable condition. Owner is asking $12,500.<br>

Im considering a L3400 and would be appling for KCC financing. I was wondering how flexible they are on approval. I have no bad credit or bankrupties. My score is in the low 600 range simply because of a few high balance credit cards. Before I take a hit for an inquiry I wanted some peoples experience with KCC. Also would it help to go joint with my wife to show her income ?

I have never had a problem with a cop in my life, My Brother in Law is NOW a Deputy , Another brother in law was a constable for many years, a brother was in security for years. I at one time thought I would like to do this work, but decided I didn't have the balls for it.... I do not think all cops are bad, on the contrary, Most of them I know have been just regular guys, The Sheriff lived across the road from me and we got along fine. I flew with another at our flying field in town.. Most are upright guys. Something was definately wrong with the one I met up with. would I call him if my lights were flickering as I came home, dang straight, He would probably do a great job, if he had the attitude he had with me against real criminals, When you enter a house that has been broken into, with the person or persons still inside, it requires a different attitude than pulling an average guy over for a traffic violation, This is what makes a good cop, adapting to the situation, it may be what he needs to do. He might be one of the reasons Green Bay is one of the 10 lowest crime areas in the U.S.A... But...he had a problem of some kind that day, and he was wrong to treat us the way he did.

Sounds alot like many buisnesses. This is pretty much common practice in the USA. No loyalty on either side of the fence. When you think about the succesful company's many of them do not practice this form or employment and are rewarded with lyal employees which then puts the team work back in place. Look at our last superbowl champs 3 out of 4 years. Not really any super stars on the team but a heck of alot of good players playing together as one.
The whole country should look at that just a bit harder.

I am considering a CK 20. Have been looking at the Kubota B7610. Locally the the CK can be had for $750 less, plus a little better interest rate, and the dealer is close. The loader specs look pretty good. I wish it had just a few more hp's, not that I feel sure that I will need them, but you never know. The CK 30 is too big for me, I feel sure. Any opinions of this tractor and its' capabilities would be much appreciated.

I was just wondering the proper practice for starting my tractor, i got it yesterday. this morning i went to start er up, took ages. i preheated for about 45 secs probably, decomp lever out turned her over, pused in the decomp and she went, chug chug chug about 20 times then stopped. did the same again, nothing, preheted loads, then away she went. the first time it went chug chug chug there was lots of smoke but when it finally went there was little.<br>
so whats the proper way to getr it to start first time with little smoke?<br>

The 3015 Mahindra, like some of the other small Mahindra line are formerly the CubCadet Mitsubishi line. I have a Cub 7234 and other than red paint they are almost identical. I've wondered the same things about a turbo on a small diesel. How long will they last, is it something else to go wrong, etc.

I think everything depends on the site, that is the only variable. Wet ,dry,sunny,shaded,elevated,low? you get it.<br>
Now take control of the variable to eliminate trouble down the road. The way to do that is to make the site higher if needed to drain storm water,get down below any frost,IMO the most effective way is a 4-6 foot frost wall and a perimeter drainage of stone and pipe and fabric.<br>
Now the rest of the methods are shortcuts to avoid this expense.They may or may not work in your area. Believe me<br>
I have tried them all with varying success,depending on the site.Seems like, if it works for one guy it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The next guys site isn't quite drained the same and one year the frost shoves one of his posts through the roof. Now the repair costs more than the frost wall. Pour a wall four feet below grade and at least<br>
18" above grade with anchor bolts every 3-4 ' and build yourself some thing that will appreciate in value and not need maintenece for a long time. The concensus around here is the new PT will last about half as long as the old formula.Notice this chart stops at 14 yrs. the new formular drops like a rock in the 15th yr. Not sure if it is the same product you are dealing with? But I think it was a fed EPA rule?<br>

Well the weather cleared up nicely while I was having my morning cup of coffee. Turned into a nice sunny day, so I got quite a bit of plasma cutting in today. <br>

I've uploaded some pictures of a circle cutter jig I built for my plasma cutter, and some pictures of cutting out wheel weights.<br>

I should describe this plate of steel I am cutting up a bit better. Forgot to get a good picture of the whole thing but this will give you a pretty good idea: It is about 19 feet long, by 58 inches wide. One long edge has a four inch edge rolled down, and the opposite edge has a four inche edge rolled up, but tha tedge has a about a five inch deep notch for about six or seven feet in the middle of the long side. Welded to the bottom side of the plate are three long pieces off angle iron, 3" x 3" x 1/2" thick, about sixteen feet long, and welded across one end of the plate were two pieces of angle stock, 3" x 3" x 3/8" thick, 56 inches long. This was one well-reinforced piece of steel! Fortunately, the angle stock was only welded on with stitch welds, about two or three inches of bead every foot or two. <br>
<br>
In order to take the angle stock off, I first gouged out most of the weld bead with the plasma cutter gouging tip. This removes pretty much all of the weld bead, but leaves a thin smear of a weld down in the root of the joint. In order to help separate this, I took a 1/16" thick x 3" diameter air grinder and gouged a bit more of this weld smear away and then was able to get a 3" inch wide broad chisel into the crack with a hand sledge. After a few whacks, there was a loud "BANG!" as the last of the weld popped apart. From then on, once I had some prying force into the gap, I could go back and gouge out more weld and each weld would "BANG" itself apart, sometimes requiring a bit more encouragement from the local application of a broad chisel and sledge. <br>

Using that process, I removed one of the 56" cross angles the other day, and this moring I removed the other one, and also removed one of the 16 foot long pieces from the underside with the whole plate lifted up on cinder block stacks of two blocks high. I was very careful to have everything well blocked before getting under it to work, and they used a lot of caution as that 16' length of 1/2" thick angle iron started to separate. But with all of those pieces removed, it left one long edge free to begin cutting circles. <br>
<br>
I did take some pictures of the circle cutting. The first three are taken through a piece of plexiglass, so they are a bit cloudy. The first two shots are from about three feet away, and the third is about eighteen inches from the torch (all with self timers). The fourth shot is of my work setup with three disks cut out. I went on to cut three more for a total of six disks. <br>

A pretty good day's work. <br>

This project is not only going to yield a lot of wheel weights for my tractor, but a bunch of valuable steel for fabricating other projects.
