I was just wondering the proper practice for starting my tractor, i got it yesterday. this morning i went to start er up, took ages. i preheated for about 45 secs probably, decomp lever out turned her over, pused in the decomp and she went, chug chug chug about 20 times then stopped. did the same again, nothing, preheted loads, then away she went. the first time it went chug chug chug there was lots of smoke but when it finally went there was little.
so whats the proper way to getr it to start first time with little smoke?
thanks

I have a similar tractor (B6200). Not sure what the "rules" are, but I start my tractor with decompression knob in RUN mode. Otherwise, you dump fuel into the cylinders. Also, it may very well be you have a problem with the tractor instead of just the wrong starting procedure.

I have a b6100, an older version of the 6200. On mine, I generally pull the decomp handle, pull the fuel shutoff lever to the closed position and spin the engine over to bring up the oil pressure. I then push in the decomp handle, set the fuel to 1/2 or a little less, preheat 30-45 seconds and it usually starts right up. Once running I slow the engine speed down to a fast idle and let it warm up.

I use this method with temps in the low 20's F and it has always started right up. Good luck.

ive been practicing and i do it now by heating the glowplugs till a little coil on the dash glows, with the throttle set to minimum and the decomp lever out spin her over push in the lever as soon as you hear her chug, push in the lever and revv with the foot throttle and away you go
thanks again ....
