Thanks for the comments guys. He did have a sheet he left with us from Cablevision that talked about FCC regulations and these stray signals. There was a phone number at the bottom of the sheet we could call but my wife is hesitant to call the cable company in case it is legitimate. We don't want to do anything to remind them there are "stray" signals (if it is legitimate) so that they start tearing through our hookups.

My wife did say this guy looked like a shifty character and he looked aound the house a bit before he knocked on the door. We were once robbed so my wife is extra aware of all suspicious characters that come around the neighborhood - that's one of the reasons why we have so much security now. I used to think she was too cautious - but not anymore. I will tell my wife about your comments. Thanks again!

I would file a report. The cop was acting in avery goofy and confrontational manner. Definitely unprofessional, especially the way he backup and made as if to grab his weapon. Especially since you kept your hands on the wheel. It sounds like he has a problem and maybe shouldn't be having a gun and a badge.

Ok everyone!! The snake has been caught! See my pics. I posted the photos under #1 (cause I screwed it up), #5 and #6. I don't know how you add words to describe the photos. I think that may be on the board somewhere, but it's not obvious so I haven't found out how to do it.<br>

The scale is hard to see, but it's about 18-24 inches in length. I plan on getting a more accurate measurement upon it's removal. I hadn't checked that room for well over a week. I was in my skivies when I found the body this morning by acident. I wasn't prepared to dispose of it while dressed like that. But I did take photos! <br>

I had set traps along the wall where I had found it the first time. But this time I used the good neck breaking ones. It couldn't squirm out of the trap this time!!<br>

I am looking for filter cross-references for my B7610HSD-F. Most of the online cross-references do not include the B7610HSDF in their lists. Ditto with the auto-parts stores. I got these numbers from a local dealer.<br>

Dave, yes there would be a difference, several actually. First, with an increase in speed so too comes a gain in inertia and a gain in centrifugal force. The inertia would help overcoming momentary increases in load, from say a sapling. The centrifugal force does the same basic thing, helping to keep the blades out-stretched in the cutting position when they load up instead of swinging back in. Then there is the difference in cut from the blade contacting the grass at half the speed, this would result in more of a 'hacking' through the grass instead of slicing as it does at the higher speed. The faster (to a point) a blade contacts the grass the better the cut.

Earthworks, I think you have it reversed, a flail takes LESS power to cut the same width not more. Not much more mind you, but more. For instance where the rule of thumb for a bush hog is about 6hp per foot of cutter, a flail takes only about 5hp per foot of cutter. Again, tip speed is one of the functions of the better-looking cut. They are also safer, since they don't tend to fire debris like a rotary does. We use them extensively in our work on goldf courses, they certainly do a nice job. They also sit closer to the tractor so they require less counter-balance and generally weigh less too, all of which makes them ideal for a CUT. They do tend to be rather spendy though.

Very new weldor "Dumb question of the day":

What affects how much filler is deposited into the weld? I haven't had much time on the arc yet, but the little I have, a couple of times, just about the time I think I am getting a good puddle and moving it around, I have had it burn through a couple of times rather suddenly.

Is this purely a function of not keeping the stick moving around enough? Or does the length of the arc have an effect as well? Sometimes I have found that as the stick gets shorter, I forget to keep moving in closer to compensate. Can this contribute to burn through?

Approaching this question from the other direction, do you deposit more material with a shorter arc, or with a longer arc, or does it make little difference?

My other reason for asking is that I have some 1/8" steel plate with a couple drilled holes ranging from 3/16" diam to 1/2" diam that I would like to fill with weld. What would the process for this be? Would you stand the panel vertically and then try to lay a bead around the lower circumference of the hole? Or should you lay the panel down flat with some backing behind the hole, maybe a thick chunk of aluminum plate so the steel won't stick? Or ???

Rudedog: I'm a private consumer and a contractor who uses NH Ag and Const. equipment, and I have no affiliation with tractor dealers. That said, I would have to agree with Oneace. He's operating under the assumption that if you buy locally you should be taken care of better (usually), and I would have to agree. I have a case where NH may be buying back my '03 skid loader that is defective, and NH tells me, and my attorney agrees, it's between me and the dealer who is local. So far they (NH) are working with me, but we'll see. I didn't get anywhere at first with the dealer until I e-mailed the NH Corporate HQ--then the wheels started to turn---don't bother calling the NH Customer Service--use e-mail then there's a paper trail. Also, call or write NH Credit, who I also use, and tell them what is going on---they should get on the dealer's butt. The other thing you need is a sympathetic District Rep. But that may be too late seeing as you bought out-of-state--but it's worth the trouble to call. You also have to kiss some major butt at local dealer to get him to any warranty work---a heart-felt apology can go a long way. I get calls from people who didn't want to pay my higher price for contracting work-- but they call again to fix what the cheaper guy messed up. If they treat me nice, then I'm more than happy to help them but don't expect me to make up for their mistake dollar-wise---and beleive me it will cost a lot more the second time to undo crap.

Off topic, but since you mentioned log splitters. Are you concerned about hooking up an unknown splitters lines to your lines? I'm thinking there could be a contamination problem.

I have a 2304 and it had a stuck 3 point when I got it. It was not too difficult to get at. On mine, it is under the seat. I cleaned a lot of sludge out and it has worked fine ever since. At the same time, I put in new fluid and a filter.

I think all of these responses have been beneficial. It seems that the ability of this system to work depends on what your needs for pressure are at the remote site. If you just need it to pump up a tire, most likely no problem. If you want to run air tools, it might just be an expensive mistake.

I have also thought of the same project but I only have about 8' to run underground. Condensation was also my biggest concern. You'll need to be able to blow the line out regularly so you'll need a high flow valve at the low pressure end.

As usual, it's the lawyers, courts, unions, and agents who are encouraging and allowing things to get out of control. The league governing bodies for all these sports turn a blind eye as long as the money keeps rolling in.

I'm a bit of a football fanatic, and I really hate what's happening to the sport. The league is putting all these rules in place to 'protect the players', to the degree that it's taking all the fun out of the game for the spectator, and putting way too much power in the hands of refs to control the outcome of games on "judgement calls".

Combined with the fact that they are only hired part time, I see a recipe for disaster there for corruption and game fixing.

Athletes more and more are just looking out for themselves and rarely have a 'team player' attitude for more than a year or two out of college.

I blame free agnecy for this. Free agency has ruined every sport it has touched. There is no loyalty to the team or from the team, and so players and teams have a 'hell with them' attitude. As a result, everybody has become a commodity, represented by lawyers, unions, and agents.

Combine this with the fact that the media elevates them to god like status, exacerbates these problems even more.

Pro sports are definitely not going in the right direction.

It's always fun to do this without looking at them or knowing local markets. To replace that with new would be just below the 20,000 depending on local fee's. I'd have to say youshould be just do to the vintage just below the $15,000 dollar mark. When selling anything you need to bring the right people to the sale this will assure you won't be wasting your time with dreamers or people looking for that allusive special bargin of a one time buy of a lifetime.

A few weeks ago in Kentucky, Lexington I believe, a couple of guys broke in a house, assaulted the wife, took what valuables they had and left. Afterwards, the man of the house graped his gun and begin firing as they drove away, hitting a neighbor's house.

This person is now in jail on wanton and endangerment charges. This was a stupid move, too many cops movies, and he probably hadn't been trained on proper use of a firearm.

I don't blame him for wanting to go after the guys who robbed him and assaulted his wife, but he mishandled the situation, and provides more fuel for the anti-gun people.

We farmed ( row crop & cattle) until semi retirement. Had a Kawasaki 4 wd mule until last December. I sold it and then bought a Kubota RTV 900 without having the oppurnity to really test drive one in the field. I use it every day to feed with and misc chores around the farm. In my opinion they are overated. The transmission is slow (and often difficult) to shift. Also, there is no glove box or standard cargo space under the hood. The power steering is great! Also, Kubota doesn't seem interested in consumer assistance. This was not a problem with Kawasaki. Our Kawasaki wqs early 90's model & used hard. We have to cross water in the pasture EVERY day. This is only my opinion as a Work vehicle.

I got the 52 inch for $1150. My dealer said the BX could even run the 60 inch, but all I wanted was to make sure I was covering my tracks. All three Kubota dealers I have talked to says Kubota is being overly conservative by recommending the B40C tiller. I had my tractor with mounted tiller delivered this afternoon and it fits the limited category 1 hitch just fine.
